If you happen to be in Siena, then regardless of the purpose of visiting this interesting city, you must visit the Siena Cathedral. It is not for nothing that it is called the most beautiful temple in Italy. The interior decoration is of rare beauty, marble floors amaze with the technique of creation. On them, biblical stories are intertwined with ancient mythology, historical symbols - with allegories, half-erased medieval images with realistic paintings. The floors are open for public viewing only in the summer.

The cathedral was designed and built in the period from 1215 to 1263 on the site of an earlier building. Outside and inside the cathedral is finished with white and greenish-black marble with the addition of red marble on the facade. Black and white are the heraldic colors of Siena, their origin is associated with the white and black horses of the founders of the city, Senius and Askia. The interior of the cathedral is remarkable for its exceptional artistic expressiveness of the mosaic floor, the magnificently decorated pulpit by Niccolò Pisano and the statue of John the Baptist, sculptured by Donatello.

Incredible mosaics and stained glass. An indescribable atmosphere of peace and joy. You go inside and the spirit captures with delight and surprise! By the way, black and white are the heraldic colors of Siena, their origin is associated with the white and black horse of the founders of the city. Entrance to the Cathedral 4 euros.
