The Peter and Paul Fortress is located on Hare Island, the historical core of the city.
The fortress is part of the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. From the Naryshkin bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress, a midday shot of a signal gun is fired daily. In 1991, a monument to Peter the Great by sculptor Mikhail Shemyakin was erected on the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress. Since the beginning of the 21st century, various entertainment events have been held on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress. There are also guided tours.
