I want to tell you about holidays in the UAE, Emirates, Dubai. Rested from April 26 to May 3.2013.
Hotel Gloria Media City 4*. Tour operator: Natalie Tours. In the UAE - for the first time.
The flight (with EMIRATES) went well, we were fed. The only negative was at check-in. We took one suitcase for two, its weight was 22 kg. They explained to us that this is not possible, they offered to put 2 extra kg in hand luggage, and only after that they accepted the suitcase. Explaining: one passenger - one suitcase up to 20 kg. You fly together - these are your problems. Since there is only one suitcase, the requirements for it are the same. There was an awkward moment. We were told: “The two of you are not recorded as a group”, so you cannot share luggage for two and in the case of electronic check-in, you may not even get a seat next to each other. Something like this... But we got seats nearby, and in the UAE they immediately bought a second suitcase. So check with your tour operator. Natalie Tours didn't hear anything about it, if anything… But the fact was noted.

At the Dubai airport, at first there was, of course, Duty Free, the purchase of alcohol on vacation. Everything is great, only the cigars that we bought there (2 types) did not like at all.
Quite cheerfully, we all gathered in one place (fortunately, I read on the websites in advance that the company hosting us was just not Natalie) and we were loaded onto the bus. After admiring the city at night, we arrived at the hotel. I was surprised by the many girls on the streets in short skirts... I scored long skirts, focusing on the reviews of travelers. But she didn't regret it. They were needed, they were more comfortable, especially in the old city. The city is amazingly beautiful!
Liked the hotel. Having prepared a phrase about a high floor in advance, we got a wonderful room on the 37th floor. But with two separate beds. We were not very happy with the option and so we returned to the reception. The administrator did not appreciate the depth of our problem, offering to move the beds with a smile, we did not want to and therefore got a room on the 33rd floor. There was only one bed, but two mattresses. But these were already trifles... Because we really wanted to eat, we arrived at the hotel at 23.30. The restaurant is open until 00 o'clock, but we were allowed to have dinner without any problems. Thanks to the guys at the reception and in the restaurant for the service.
Number: chic - bedroom, living room (each - TV), equipped kitchen, laundry room, bathroom (it even had scales). I was especially struck and touched by the refrigerator... Large and locked with a key. Options: either travelers close food from each other, or food and alcohol from the staff... I don’t know the correct answer... The view from the balcony was of the city... It was breathtaking.
I don’t know much about Russian channels, I didn’t watch much, they took films with them and connected the disk to the player. But there were definitely one or two. The room was cleaned every day. As for the dust, I don't know, I haven't looked at it.

Phone charger. You need an adapter, you can order it from the administrator, leaving a little money as collateral, which will then be returned... Or, as it turned out, the required socket format is available behind the TV and video player. Again, charging for a razor in the bathroom has not been canceled. In general, for a Russian person there is always an option...
Restaurants in the hotel. Visited the main restaurant, Lebanese cuisine and Southeast Asian cuisine (I think so). Main restaurant: breakfast-dinner was included, but we sometimes changed it for lunch. Everything is good, delicious, there are seafood, they give sushi rolls. Desserts are good. What else to add - I do not know. Lebanese (the one on the left, if you stand next to the restaurants) - the salad and dessert are tasteless, but the kebab is good. Asian - I liked the dishes, but very spicy.
Free Wi-Fi was not available in the restaurant.
Didn't like the bar on the 40th floor at all. Of the ordered cappuccino and cakes, they brought only coffee... and then very soon... They completely forgot about the cakes. The bar downstairs has good coffee.
I especially want to praise the pool and jacuzzi on the 8th floor. In the evening… It's just a fairy tale.
Beach. Were on a payroll. There is no storm of enthusiasm about this. Beach and beach… Sand. With the number of cigarette butts he was supposed to. There is nothing bad here. The sea was a little upset. I expected more than 10 meters fenced with floats. But also not bad. Although to me personally, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea are the most attractive. Especially since the beach is far away. Initially, tour operators do not warn that not everyone can get on a free transfer, but only those who fuss in advance... and much in advance... But not earlier than a day in advance. Registration - at the reception of the accommodation service.
I really liked the metro. But be sure to buy a silver card. Ask for a metro map at the accommodation service. The station itself - next to the hotel - is a plus. We rode around the city on our own, walked without excursions.
That's where I really recommend to go - Madinat Jumeirah (there are maps in the hotel lobby). Taxi. This is little Venice. And the market. Everything is great and wonderful. It's really worth walking there. Again with beautiful views... And on the Parus as well.

A fur coat. . . The purchase was not planned, but since such a booze has gone on. . . A woman is sitting in the lobby of the hotel, offering leather and furs. We talked with her, decided to see my dear man’s jacket... And as it always happens... Passing by fur coats... I didn’t pass by... Norochka, Greek, patterned (white with dark patterns), just below the knee. Stunningly beautiful. By figure. Bottom line: my man's talent to communicate with the director exceeded expectations. The fur coat was given to us with a 50% discount and it is worth it. In our country, even in principle, I have not seen anything like it, not to mention for that price.
Jewelry… I have a hobby – I love natural stones… if possible in silver… There was an ambush with silver – in the UAE we did not find beautiful silver with worthy natural stones. If the stone is natural, then only in gold. A lot of beautiful stones and products. Emeralds with diamonds in white gold turned out to be our choice… Until now, I can’t take my eyes off such beauty, our Russian stores are no match. In terms of jewelry, we went around the jewelry market (the one that is gold), the jewelry center (at one of the metro stations) and my dear bought a ring for me in our own hotel... There is no prophet in his own country... In addition, they took natural stones separately from the jewelry center - emerald, peridots (chrysolites) - I want to order jewelry with them myself.
The gold market. . . It was a sea of impressions. The jewelry itself is good… Lots of beautiful things at beautiful prices. It doesn't smell cheap here. The most interesting thing was not there. We walked around the market, lunch time, I wanted to have a bite to eat. We turned a little to the side in search of food... Slums... Even sometimes it was uncomfortable to be there. I am an impressionable being. . . I was just horrified when the guys nearby in a cafe started eating scrambled eggs with dirty hands, smearing them on a plate. I was unprepared for this, instantly got sick of eating. Then it was more fun... A group (4) of oriental girls of the most ancient profession approached. Interest stirred in me, I forgot about the Pakistanis sitting next to them with scrambled eggs... The girls, of course, are colorful... Age - 40 and up, far from nymphs with the figure of Aphrodite. The make-up is the brightest, but the outfits are black. Although to the toes, they actively demonstrated the beauty of the body, slightly opening the floors of the clothes. In general, it was also a curious sight. But I still wanted to very cheerfully leave such a pleasant institution.
Malls. Were at three. Outlet, Emirates, Dubai. I don’t know... I’m not a fan of shops, in principle. They took something on trifles... Adidas T-shirt, a very beautiful tunic, men's shoes - in the first. In the other two, they didn’t even go shopping. We admired the oceanarium, the waterfall and looked at Sky Dubai from the cafe window… Everything…

Singing fountains. . . I saw fountains in Barcelona and in Prague. Therefore, these were “nothing” to me... But, probably, if there is nothing to compare with and a crowd of people does not interfere, then it’s worth a look...
I brought home coffee with cardamom, I bought it right at the hotel in the supermarket. I recommend.
Bottom line: I liked the city, I liked the hotel.
With those who say that service in the UAE and everything else is “wow, how amazing”, like, this is not some kind of Turkey for you... I personally am ready to argue. Perhaps you just did not come across good hotels. I am a creature not very affectionate and demanding to life. Therefore, in Turkey and Egypt, I liked everything in hotels. There were mistakes, but it happens everywhere. And I didn’t appreciate such a “WOW! ”... Yes, good, comfortable, everything is great...
But for me, for example, it's great and I like it almost everywhere where I rest. I don't look for dust on the shelves and cobwebs in the corners. Was in the Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Egypt. Maybe not the whole world, but not the first time I'm going. So I just loved it all over again.
And one more thing. . . There is no cheapness in the UAE. . . Leather, furs, gold. . . Maybe it makes sense to go for cheap things, but only during the sales season. And so - we did not observe... But maybe, of course, we looked in the wrong places.
Of the minuses:
1) transfer to the beach. There is a clearly limited number of seats on the bus, and if you are not among them, your choice is a taxi for 40 dirhams.
2) there are no cafes, shops, etc. near the hotel. even in small things
3) The hotel has no territory (if it is important to someone)
