Indifference to the fate of tourists

I rested with a young man in Ayanapa from 05/12/12 to 05/19/12 at the Faros Hotel. There was a very unpleasant situation that left a very unpleasant aftertaste and could have terrible consequences.

On 05/19/12 at 07.10 a bus was supposed to pick us up, heading to the airport in Paphos. But this morning the alarm clock let us down and we woke up only at 07.23. Until recently, I did not believe that the bus had already left without us. At 07.27 we called the hotel guide Yuri with a request to return the bus for us, in response we heard one phrase: "Take a taxi, it costs about 140 euros." Of course, I understand that we ourselves are to blame, but we were shocked by such indifference to the fate of tourists, because we were not late for the tour, but for the airport!!! There was a state of confusion, helplessness and despair, because. we only had 55 euros left. After 20-30 minutes, they phoned the bus driver and asked to wait for us somewhere. We were told that they would wait for us for 15 minutes.

We went by taxi to catch up with the bus. While driving, I had the feeling that my heart was not beating, because. there was a terrible fear that if we did not make it in time, we would be dropped off on the track with bags and no money. We caught up with the bus before reaching Larnaca, about 10-16 km. For a taxi, pay 50 euros (for speeding). Of course, I am still very grateful to the bus driver and accompanying person that they waited for us, but I still arrive in a state of shock and do not understand two points:

1. Why didn’t they even call us, but just left. Indeed, according to the hotel employee, the bus arrived when it was not yet 7 am (it was scheduled for 07.10). This is not the first time I travel, I have been to more than 10 countries and always, even when going on an excursion, they waited for all those who were late, called everyone and even searched for the hotel.

2. Why the hotel guide was so indifferent to our problem. I am more than sure that when we called him, the bus was still traveling around the city and collecting tourists from hotels.

After all, if Yuriy had made a little fuss, and not waved us away, then 2 full buses would not have had to wait for us on the highway.

We arrived home on May 20, but I still have this situation before my eyes and a lot of questions: “Why?”, “How so?”……..
