To choose or not to choose...

We have been traveling with Tez Tour for several years now. Prices are certainly higher than other tour operators, but always everything was at the highest level. The last time we were in the Dominican Republic was from 06 to 20 November 2015 (this is not the first time we visit this country). They arrived at two o'clock in the afternoon. The meeting guide was Eugene. We waited for everyone and went to the hotels. On the way, he briefly told about the local time, water, currency, morning meeting with the hotel guide, and fell silent. But about six years ago, the guides told the history of the country and local customs and a lot of interesting things, so no one was bored on the bus. Upon arrival at the hotels, he showed the vacationers where the reception was located and left. There was no help from him during the check-in (although other guides usually control this process). We were driving to the Barcelo Dominican Beach Hotel, there was another couple and one girl with us. The couple turned to Evgeny with a request to help them with the settlement, because

they were not the first time in this hotel and they needed to arrange a superior room. Eugene nodded understandingly to this, but in the end he left everyone to deal with their problems and desires on their own. The next morning there was a meeting with the hotel guide Nadezhda. The woman was very sweet, cheerful and pleasant to talk to. She told us about all the available excursions, suggested that everyone make a travel schedule, etc. We asked her to help us change the room, she helped us, came with us to the reception and explained the problem (she herself does not speak Spanish perfectly). On this trip, we decided not to waste time on long excursions. They only wanted to go to the Don Lucas factory (shopping local cigars, rum and natural cosmetics) and Macau beach (only 20 minutes drive, and the photos from there are just awesome). The trip to the factory was not a success.

At first, the bus driver for some reason forgot about us, which is why we wasted several hours of our personal time (while we were getting ready, waiting for him, etc.). I had to make an appointment for the next day. Luckily, it worked out the second time around. What can not be said about a trip to Macau. Having signed up for a certain day and paid for the trip, we began to prepare satisfied. But the night before, we received an alarming call from Nadezhda, who said that the group was not recruited, it was not profitable for Tez Tour to take us, and we were not going anywhere. We were very disappointed, but decided to try our luck and made an appointment for another day. The next time the exact same thing happened. That is, this tour is considered one of the cheapest and most unfavorable for guides, and they simply don’t sell it, they actively offer to go to Samana, Santo Domingo, etc. We were just horrified. Why was it necessary to promise us this trip, if everyone knows that it is difficult to recruit a group.

Two weeks flew by unnoticed, and then came the day of departure home. Initially, the ticket indicated that the departure time was ten in the evening. Nadezhda said that the flight was moved to 17, and they would pick us up from the hotel at 13.50. We were taken by a friend of ours, Eugene. Then for another hour and a half we drove to all the hotels on a tiny bus with a luggage trailer in order to pick up all the people. Eugene said that the departure was at 18, told about the rules for carrying luggage, upon arrival at the airport showed us where our check-in counters were. He forgot to inform about where you can pack the luggage crumpled in the trailer. With that, his mission was completed. Standard memorized phrases, a disgruntled look, no interest in making tourists happy that their tour operator is Tez Tour - that's all about him. So next time we will think a few more times whether it is worth taking vouchers through this company.
