It was not the first time in Phuket (always lived in hotels in Karon). Upon arrival, they said that there were no available rooms in our hotel and we had no choice how to go to the hotel they chose, moreover, in Patong. We know that hotels in Patong are cheaper than in Karon, although the sea is also nearby, it is dirty and you will have to take a taxi (600-700 baht in both directions), and in general, there are plenty of restaurants in Karon, it’s not every day to hunt, but to You go to the sea on all days if you haven’t gone on excursions. We said that we can only consider hotels in Karon. Anya (meeting guide) assured us that there was not a single free hotel on Karon (they didn’t want to pay extra) and despite our disagreement, they brought us to a hotel in Patong. They tried to convince them that they have the right (under the contract) to check us into a hotel of the same or higher level, but the fact that it is in a different place, so...

alas... But we are experienced tourists, we know our rights and, at least, carefully read the contract! In Thailand, there is no official stardom, but it is indicated at the discretion and opinion of the tour operator. So we said that if the hotel they proposed is in their opinion and 5 stars, ours is 2, and in general it is in a different place. We refused to get off the bus and forbade anyone to touch our things. Another guide Evgeny came out of the hotel, began to convince us that we had no choice and that we would live where they decided, and they would not be taken to Karon. He offered to get off the bus and go to the hotel, just to look (we know this trick!). Attention! As soon as you get off the bus, your things will be taken out, and when you return, you will no longer have a choice - the bus has left, your things and you are on the street. Don't be afraid to stand up for your rights! Maybe then travel agencies will begin to fulfill their duties normally and will respect us. They won’t leave you on the street, they don’t have the right, and they won’t force you to pull.

And while you are on the bus, the company is responsible for you. In any case, threaten the tourist police (for them, it is worse than usual, because tourism is one of the main incomes of this state and the company can have big problems). We said that we would only go out on Karon, to which Eugene replied that then we would spend the night on the bus and went to the hotel, they say, if you decide I am there, leaving us with the driver (they wanted to take them with exhaustion). Anya, smiling sweetly, referred to the fact that her husband was waiting for her and in general she was in a hurry, said goodbye and left. Well, of course, there is absolutely no time to deal with their direct duties :) Well, it’s not worth talking about the rudeness of Russians towards each other, it’s necessary to creep in front of foreigners ... This is all the Soviet past that is still absorbed with mother’s milk ...

So at the hotel in the bus we sat for about two - two and a half hours. But we are not lazy. During this time, my husband got through to both the operator in Moscow and the representative office in Phuket.

Of course, they are not used to seeing our tourists who are familiar with legal rights, but still hoped that we would break :)) The driver got off the bus and kept talking to someone on the phone, then in Thai, then in English. It was hard to hear, but by some phrases we understood that it was about us. Then he hands the phone to her husband, says that this is his boss. The man (Russian) politely introduced himself on the phone as the director of the representative office of Biblio-Globus (in Thailand, Sayama Travel) and promised to try to resolve the issue quickly. After 20-30 minutes we were driving to Karon. We were immediately brought to the hotel that was booked (Talay), where we were met by another guide Alina and confirmed that there would be no rooms in this hotel in the next four days, and she didn’t know who was to blame for this overlay. They either pointed at the Moscow office, then at the hotel, then at the representative office and nervously apologizing promised that now we would be taken to a really good hotel 200-300 meters from here.

By the way, we saw people from our own flight in the lobby, they were settled without any problems. But everything that is not done, as they say, is for the better. When we heard the name of the proposed hotel, we agreed to take a look, because resting here is not the first time we heard excellent reviews about it, and for the price it is certainly more expensive. As I wrote above, the guides claimed that there were no free hotels and even one free room on Karon - we were given three to choose from! It was wonderful - a huge terrace (20-25 meters), everything is new, excellent service, wonderful staff, ringing cleanliness in the rooms, excellent breakfasts (great choice, delicious, fish, meat ...), beautiful territory, good location and the sea, and to restaurants, and to shops, three cool pools. Three hours of struggle were worth it! There were very few Russians there, we met two couples. The next day they called us and asked how we settled down, how we like everything.

This does not happen with foreigners, because.

in this case firms pay huge compensations. A friend of my husband (a Frenchman) told me that if this happened to them, they unquestioningly lodge in the best hotel, excursions are free and a lot of bonuses for the next trips, if only they would not sue! Once he had a problem, so in addition to all this, they also gave him two tickets, each in both directions to anywhere in the world during the year.

If we know and defend our rights, then we will have the same. And when travel companies take money, they will understand that they will have to work it out, bear responsibility for this and defend the interests of tourists, solve their problems, otherwise they will have problems!
