I have been traveling with the Silver Ring for several years. Previously, it was called a historical club, specialized only in trips to the Scandinavian countries and the Northwest. Gradually the geography expands. There was an idea - to close the ring around the Baltic and neighboring seas. Something similar to the Golden Ring around Moscow. Only, in this case, Petersburg becomes the center. Today there is an office in Moscow. And this means that you can find trips to the European part of the country. Other, more distant countries are constantly appearing as well. The firm cooperates with other excursion companies.
As for the subject, it is wide: there is still history, there are nature tours, but other topics are not forgotten.
The main thing that attracts me: in many tours, the names of the guides are displayed. I have my own, which coincide with the interests. I went with them to nature, to tours connected with the Middle Ages, with Marshal Mannerheim, with the history of religion.
And the history of Russia is sometimes easier to learn from Scandinavian neighbors than in Russia. I really like that the company shows cities and their suburbs not in a standard way - a sightseeing tour, but with visits to different parts of them, often those that even the locals do not know about. I met people who did not know these places, even after living for decades in the country. The same applies to nature: the club is not afraid to turn off the well-worn road to a country road and show the inquisitive people the hidden places of the country.
There is no need to even talk about the amount of information. Sometimes there is so much of it that it takes months to "digest" it, calling for help from photographs, records, reading other sources. All this contributes to a deeper immersion in the topic of interest.
Typically, trips are made by bus, which allows you to get to small and hard-to-reach places.
And, of course, ferries are used (without them, the Baltic cannot be crossed and the islands cannot be reached). Such modes of transport are convenient for those travel enthusiasts who either do not have their own car or do not have a company for a trip "of interest". There will be people on the tour who share exactly your interests. Perhaps these will be your future companions. And who doesn't want to find people with similar hobbies?
You can pay for the trip without any problems via the Internet, which I have been using lately. After booking, consent is sent, then the payment system sends documents on payment, and the company - on its receipt and a password for entering these documents for the trip. The last letter comes with an agreement, etc. a voucher, where it is written what exactly is included in the payment and a message about a seat on the bus (not every company does this, which causes a literally "battle" for seats). Before departure, information about the place of departure is posted on the website, tel.
guide and his name. Everything is clear and understandable and allows even people living far from St. Petersburg to travel with the company
