In December 2019, the trip to pre-Christmas Vienna, which I had long dreamed of for a long time, finally took place, the main purpose of which, of course, was the Christmas markets. But besides them, it was planned to make several trips - in the vicinity of the Austrian capital and cities more distant from it, so the hotel was chosen on the principle of proximity to the central railway station of Vienna, as well as with a more or less reasonable price. Hotel Kolbeck, based on the given parameters, turned out to be the best option - the path from the door of our room to the entrance to the station took a leisurely step of 5-6 minutes. Proximity to the station also gave the advantage that there was a small InterSpar supermarket at the station, which was open until 23:00 all 7 days a week. For Austria, where shops are open until 8 pm maximum on weekdays, and almost everything is closed on Sunday, the presence of a working shop in the immediate vicinity of habitats is a significant plus. Especially if you return from a trip late and it would be nice to buy something to eat / drink on the way. : )
The accessibility to other modes of transport at the hotel is also excellent - on the one hand, there is a tram stop right in front of the hotel, on the other hand, the Keplerplatz metro station is a 2-3 minute walk, from which the trip to the very center of Vienna in the form of Stephansplatz takes about 10 minutes. Also, of course, there is a large transport interchange near the railway station, where a lot of urban transport lines intersect. And it’s great to get to the airport - trains from the main railway station in Vienna go there every 15-20 minutes, the travel time depends on the type of train and takes from 15 to 30 minutes.
Another, in my opinion, the bonus of the hotel was the ability to pay for breakfast on the spot and in fact, that is, if you had breakfast - pay 7 euros / person at the reception, did not go to breakfast - they don’t add anything to your price. And since we had, among other things, early departures, such a system seemed quite convenient. Breakfasts were absolutely standard - cheese, meat and vegetable cuts, eggs in different variations, sausages, milk, muesli, yoghurts, delicious croissants (whose homeland, as you know, is by no means France, but just the same Austria), butter and jams, juices from the machine and coffee from the coffee machine. In other words - for a camping breakfast, that's it. And you don't have to go anywhere else.

The rest is an absolutely ordinary budget trio. The main part of the hotel is located in a nice historical building, but, in addition, they rent a few more floors in a neighboring house, where we got a room with windows on the pedestrian Favoritenstrasse and a small shopping center with a Mercur supermarket (here it just worked according to the standard schedule and on the day of our arrival on Saturday it closed at 18.00, and on Sunday it was closed). By the way, this part of the hotel has its own exit to the street, which is also quite convenient.
The room is spacious, warm (it was possible to adjust the batteries), provided with everything you need (except for a refrigerator, but instead of it we used a window sill - some kind of winter all the same). There was no balcony, but none of the hotel rooms seemed to have them, so those wishing to smoke would have to do so when going outside. Linen during our stay (5 nights) was not changed, but towels were replaced every day. The bathroom had a hair dryer (specific, of course, but served its function), liquid hand soap and shower gel. This was enough for us, because. I prefer to carry the entire washroom with me.
At the reception, we were met by a Russian-speaking employee Zharko - he immediately gave us a map of Vienna, told us which places to visit and how to get to them, as well as which transport tickets are better to buy. For us, this information was not new (after all, the 7th time in Vienna), but those who came here for the first time will not be superfluous. : ) In the future, he was approached with requests such as a kettle in the room or the possibility of a later check-out - all issues were resolved instantly and to everyone's satisfaction. ; ) In the absence of Zharko, a young guy was on duty at the reception, with whom communication in English was also very fruitful.
The only thing that can sadden a more fastidious tourist is the transition from one building (where the reception and breakfast room is located) to another (where the room was located), which passes through, let's say, the backyards of the buildings, and even the economic part of the located on the first floor of the restaurant. This is not catastrophic, but I had to walk past boxes of vegetables for cafes, some household gadgets, etc. But if you are such an esthete, then the transition from one building to another could be made along the street along, so to speak, front facades. And by the way, they are very cute! : )

In other words, the hotel justified all the “Wishlist” assigned to it and did not cause any complaints. I think that during the next trip to Vienna it is quite possible to stay at this hotel again.
