Vienna is calling!

I fell in love with Vienna once and for all. A city where you want to return and I returned - for the second time. I hope that my romance with this city will continue. I bring my recommendations. I would be glad if they are useful to someone.

Getting around Vienna by public transport is a pleasure. Buy a weekly Wohenkarte pass for 14 euros and travel by metro, buses and trams.

We drove from the airport to the hotel without any problems. We chose the most inexpensive way for 3.60 euros - by train and metro. So, after receiving the luggage, we go out to the welcoming hall. From it we turned right to the pointer to the OBB (this is an electric train) and left the airport building, then the gate to the left and then went further a little forward, to the elevator. In the elevator, they pressed the button with the pointer OBB (electric train). On the platform in the machine for 3.60 euros, we bought an Einzelfahrt 2 Zonen ticket to the Wien-Mitte station.

We got on the train with the Floridsdorf direction indicator, drove for 30 minutes and got off at the Wien-Mitte station, and you don’t need to buy a metro ticket (since it is included in the price), then changed to another branch and got to the metro station we needed.

We took a taxi from the hotel to the airport for 30 euros. I recommend Delidelux, mob. tel. +436642309701.

It seems to me that museums are a feature of Vienna. There are many of them. The museums are thematic, the exhibits are unique, the expositions are designed thoughtfully, with skill. We visited twice (in 2011 and 2012)

Kunsthistorisches Museum - I think it's a must to visit. The art gallery of the KHM Museum is beautiful and vast, containing world-famous masterpieces by Cranach, Rembrandt, Brueghel, Vermeer, Raphael, Arcimboldo and many others. Many works, of course, are familiar to the artist. albums, but, as it turned out, they are located in Vienna! The temporary exhibition KHM in 2012 is dedicated to the work of Klimt, beloved by the Austrians.

Of course, I advise you to leave time for visiting the halls of Egyptian and ancient art, the coin cabinet - they are no less entertaining. It is best to visit this huge museum on Thursday, when it is open until 9 pm.

The Albertina is currently hosting exhibitions of the Impressionists and Klimt. You can see Russian abstractionists and avant-garde artists - Kandinsky, Malevich, Rodchenko, Lentulov. But keep in mind that the permanent exhibition with graphics by Michelangelo, Raphael and Dü rer is temporarily closed. Therefore, Albertina somehow disappointed me.

The Museum of Natural History has a huge collection of minerals and paleontological finds from around the world. You can manually launch the volcano, see the coelacanth and Venus of Willendorf. Stock up on time - there are 20 million exhibits in the museum!

We had a goal - by all means to listen to the organ in the church.

Therefore, on Sunday morning, we ended up in the inner square of the Hofburg Michaelerplatz, where we entered the Michaelerkirche, the church of St. Michael. Church of the 13th century, in its architecture you can see elements of the Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque styles. There is a column with dragons, medieval frescoes, a magnificent rococo altar. The organ of 1714 sounds wonderful, very solemn.

We also visited the baroque church of St. Peter (Peterskirche). There was also a choir at the Mass in Peterskirche. The acoustics under its arches are wonderful, the music sounds sublime and simply mesmerizing. There is a half-hour organ concert in Peterskirche every day at 15:00 on weekdays and at 20:00 on Sundays. Free admission. As I understand it, the program of organ concerts is changing. In our day they performed Handel, Haydn.

Attended a Classic Exclusive concert at St. Anna Kirche. Played "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi and also works by Mozart and Bach. I liked it very much - I recommend it. Ticket 29 euros, purchased near the church at Annagasse, 3.

Concerts will run until June 23. Details: www. classic exclusive. com.

Ticket discounts

Discounts do exist and you can actually get them with an Austrian Airlines boarding pass. We received a 50% discount: at the KHM Museum - 6 euros, at the Albertina - 5.5 euros. In the DO & CO cafe in Albertina, upon presentation of boarding passes, everyone is given melange coffee for free (but this is when ordering other dishes, of course).

Restaurants

This time we visited four establishments, each had a menu in Russian.

Of course, we visited the restaurant-brewery 7 Stern Brau (Siebensterngasse, 19) recommended by everyone. At first glance, it will seem that all the places there are occupied, but feel free to come in - the waiters will tell you where to sit. Excellent beer - 3.7 euros for a glass of 0.5 l! Liter - 6.90. I really liked the Rauchbier variety - a dark beer with a smoke smell and a smoked aftertaste, but not at all bitter, but very pleasant. Ribs were taken for two, a huge portion of delicious ribs with potatoes and sauces - 14.90. More is not necessary.

Near the Mercure Westbahnhof and Ibis hotels there is a restaurant HAGENTHALLER (Wallgasse, 32). The audience is local, but tourists from nearby hotels drop by. The interior is modest, but the food is decent. Huge, as expected in Vienna, schnitzel with delicious potato salad - 12.70. We also ordered cordon bleu with lingonberry sauce (10.90) and two cream soups (3.5 each). Plus two glasses of white wine (according to 3.1). The bill is 37 euros.

The Greek restaurant MYTHOS (Webgasse, 45) pleased us with delicious lamb and goat meat dishes. We ordered Lemonato - a huge leg baked in foil, in lemon sauce and with a side dish (15 euros) and rack of lamb Lammkrone (16.50). The soups were also good, especially the pumpkin Kurbissuppe (4.20).

Restaurant LINDENKELLER (Rotenturmstrasse, 12), located near St. Stephen's Cathedral, attracts with special video advertising. menu - Mozart menu, Straus menu. These are complex lunches - meat, salad, strudel. Not bad, but for the first time we absolutely did not like the service. Mozart menu costs 21.50 euros and includes Tafelspitz. But he did not impress us - probably, this dish should be tried in Plahutte.

According to reviews, it is excellent there.

I also recommend the Tchibo coffee chain. Here they will offer good and not expensive (at Viennese prices) natural coffee. It is profitable to take the “Deal of the Day”: coffee plus some kind of cake for only 3.5 euros. The Viennese themselves drink coffee there.

All shops and brands are well represented on Mariahilf Street. The street is 2-3 km long, so some shops on it are even repeated. Large shopping centers are interesting - Peec & Clopenburg, Van Graf, Glengross, Kleider Bauer (all kinds of mid-price brands) and C&A (cheaper). There are shoe networks - Humanic and Salamander (these networks have a huge range of fashionable shoes and bags from 100 euros). For women's clothing, go to Street One, Jones, Comma (urban style for fashionable women, sizes 40-50). For larger sizes, go to C&A.

You can also go to the largest shopping center SCS. It is more convenient and cheaper to get there not on the Baden blue tram, but on the Ikea bus, the stop is opposite the Opera. Schedule (from Monday to Friday) Ikea-Bus to: 8.00, 10.00, 11.30, 13.00.

Return: 16.45, 18.15, 19.45, 21.30. The schedule is up-to-date, I specially photographed it on the bus  . The way there is free, back - 1.5 euros (you must buy a ticket before the bus leaves at the Ikea ticket office, the driver will not let you on the bus without a ticket).

Do not forget to apply for Tax-Free for purchases from 75 euros.

What to bring home

Austrian sausages, sausages. You buy in a regular supermarket or in the Naschmarkt market. You will feel the difference - ours is impossible to eat, and the Austrian ones are very high quality and tasty. Apparently natural : -).

I will answer additional questions - ask.
