The three of us rested (with a girlfriend and a 5-year-old son) for 9 days, arrived on the eve of the New Year 2012. We planned a trip for a long time, looking for a decent inexpensive hotel closer to the ski lifts. The location is really good, it is quite possible to walk even with the equipment. But that's where all the advantages of the hotel, unfortunately, end.
The first 2 nights we slept in outerwear under all the blankets that we found, + we asked for a heater in the room from our guide (brought, thanks to her, in the middle of the night, my own, from home... ). It turned out to be simply unrealistic even for an adult to take a shower - steam came out of his mouth, to stand barefoot on the floor - it’s even scary to imagine in such a hellish cold! Hot water flowed unstably (the water heater seemed to be also set to economy mode. . . - no more than 5 minutes per person). The child caught a cold right away, I had to call a doctor for insurance (upon arrival home, all this resulted in acute otitis media).
As it turned out..... the hotel began to drown right on the day of our arrival (allegedly the very beginning of the season! ) - and it was already December 29!

In the corridors of the hotel, you can break limbs and smash your forehead on a random oncoming jamb, because the light turns on "somewhere there", about three meters from the entrance to the corridor, you need to grope... we are used to it, of course, but on the 5th day... ))
There were no dishes in the room, towels were not always changed (sometimes they took away dirty ones and did not give new ones). The bed linen is oddly sized, the sheets barely fit the width of the bed, all rolled up during the night, you sleep on a bare mattress. There is a pool, but taking into account the policy of saving on heating at the hotel - rarely anyone dared to go there, it was empty, someone from the group seemed to use the sauna, but you had to ask the staff to turn it on for heating in advance.
They feed in the basement, for breakfast every day the same thing - scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with chemical sausage or cheese. For 3 days there were problems in the kitchen - they generally gave out dry rations, adults would be fine, but the child is small...
When my son fell ill, we had to boil water in the room, there was no pot/kettle, and the reception refused. Fortunately, kind people, passing by (Bulgarians), vacationing in the same hotel, only on the top floor, as it turned out in SIGNIFICANTLY better conditions (with carpets, bedspreads, dishes, etc. ), gave us 1 of their dishes for a while. The time was reminded at the reception after 2 days - they demanded to return the taken pan.
And that's just what I remember, it's been almost a year. . .
I have been to many places, including the Mexican villages forgotten by God, but I have not seen such a "SERVICE" anywhere. There is simply no service here. The staff is friendly only as long as you have the patience to endure this "hospitality", as soon as you need to get them to solve the problem - they immediately stop understanding Russian and English and switch only to Bulgarian national gestures: they shrug their shoulders and nod...
All the rave reviews here are clearly written by the hotel administration or tour operators. The entire group that was with us there on New Year's Eve 2012 all cursed and swore to write angry reviews, I hope they did.

First time posting, just to warn other travelers. Bansko is a wonderful place, a charming town in the mountains, the whitest snow, clean air, delicious cuisine and a cheerful atmosphere. And all this pleasure, as it turned out, can be crossed out by getting into such a cesspool as the Polaris Inn.
Have a nice rest!
