The suitcases are unpacked, the panties are on the shelves, the relatives have presents. My wife started the washing machine, and I sat down to paint in all its glory my impressions of the rest received.
It is worth saying that the choice of the hotel was approached, as always, carefully. This year we decided to make the resort of Sveti Vlas happy with our presence in the second half of August. Having studied the Internet, Google maps, Google Earth and other written and graphic sources, they chose the Monastery I hotel, which, in principle, suited the location, availability and quality of the complex's apartments for 4 people (2 adults + 2 children), distance from the sea and elevation. Monastery I belongs to the Denevi Resot hotel group and belongs to the group of hotels of the first Premium coastline (Arena, Monastery 1 and 2, Diamant, Bademite) - overlooking the sea. They have one more first coastline, but without a sea view, and also the second and third.
It should be noted that the reception (check-in desk) is centrally located in the Diamant Hotel. But, I knew all this, the distance was about 250 m - it seems to be not far through the Arena Hotel. What is it like to register, get the key once, and be like that. Oops. Here was my first mistake. I didn't take into account the relief. Sveti Vlas is generally one continuous rise, located in some foothills. And the first coastline is also replete with ravines.
So, upon arrival in Burgas, we are met by the host Teddy Kam. He collects everyone in a wonderful bus and takes them through Sunny Beach (thank you, even though we didn’t stop by Nessebar). Most of the citizens who arrived this day, as well as on other days, seek to relax in the most popular resort in Bulgaria, Sunny Beach. Do I need to tell you that while everyone was taken through the streets, hotels in Sunny Beach, it took 1.5 hours.
And then smoothly Sunny Beach turns into Sveti Vlas and the remaining 3 families finally bring us to the hotels. We are the last. And here, oops, the driver refuses to go to Diamant, arguing that he will not pass (and this is after the narrow streets of Sunny Beach, designed for only 1 car). We are dropped off 300 meters from Diamant, where the reception is located, they show us the direction with a wave of the hand. Thank you Teddy Kam for the awesome transfer. In the heat with suitcases and bags, we reached the Diamant, found the reception. We are happy to register, get coupons for breakfast in the Manastir mechan. The guy calls up someone on the phone, then starts looking for someone (as I understand it, someone who will help deliver our things). As a result, going out into the street, looking around, he opens his car and offers a ride. It turns out there is no direct road from Diamant to Manastira I. There are wild trails and paths along ravines, through the Arena amphitheater and a supermarket.
We drive up, then along the main street of Sveti Vlas, then we go down to Monastir, in general, we made a round trip. We are met by a woman with keys. And here we find out that we were settled not in Monastery I, but in Monastery II. Dude, how is it. We ask why we were moved, we find out that there are no places in Monastery I and these hotels are nearby and nothing terrible has happened - they are on the same coastline and they are equivalent. And we are offered a delightful room on the 6th floor in a hotel without an elevator. It should be noted that Monastery II is located much higher than its neighbor, in the central building it has the highest elevation corresponding to the 8th floor relative to the lowest elevation of the 1st floor, in contrast to Monastery I, which has 2-3-storey buildings located on a more flat terrain. That is, Monastery II is a building located on a kind of rugged terrain with a height difference of 15-20 meters. We were outraged to the core.
The call to the receiving party was essentially no different than what we heard from the woman with the keys (I don’t know who she is there by position): they are nearby. When I asked who was responsible for the distribution of numbers, I did not receive a clear answer, either the central office of Denevi, or the host Teddy Kam, or someone else. But, the sending tour operator was shocked (they called the agent on Saturday evening). As a result, they promised to move the next day, when the guests leave Monastery I (from the second floor). Another "Thank you" Teddy Kam for looking after the interests of the clients. If I wanted to jump like a mountain artiodactyl over the hills of Monastery II, I would immediately buy a ticket to this complex. As a result, tired, we decided to go up to the 6th floor of Monastery II. Thanks to the guy who gave us a lift from the reception, having loaded half of our luggage, he helped us up to the apartment. His name is GENADI, or at least that's the inscription on his badge.
A woman with keys, on the way up, painted the merits of the rooms of Monastery II, comparing with Monastery I, promising that as soon as the guests leave, she will definitely show us the room in which we were supposed to live and we ourselves will compare that she is not deceiving - it is much worse. Naturally, no one came the next day, and we didn’t even insist, because after unpacking our things, we decided not to spoil our nerves with these moves, otherwise the whole vacation would go to waste. Moreover, according to Bulgarian laws, they have the right to provide customers with a room equivalent to that booked in a hotel of at least a class.
Departure was also sad. The guide promised that they would pick us up from the Monastery Hotel. The same was indicated in the departure schedule. Time 04.30. I, with my belongings, noticeably heavier from gifts to friends and relatives in the form of alcoholic drinks, went down from the 6th floor, dragged myself to the parking lot of Monastery I through all possible obstacles.
We must pay tribute, the representative of Teddy Kam appeared on time (last time in Nessebar we waited more than half an hour), but without a bus. The girl announced to us that the bus will not go here and we need to go to the street. St. Vlas (Hotel Arena II), and this is another 300 meters uphill. Needless to say, I had no other words other than swear words. Cursing, I, with all my belongings and my family, dragged myself to the bus, where I also besieged the driver. You think I'm ashamed - not at all. Once again, I would like to express “Thank you” to Teddy Kam for the simply drop dead transfer in the square.
So, when choosing a hotel of the Denevi group, keep in mind that their location is different, you will have to jump over rough terrain, the hotel does not have transport, you do not influence the choice of hotel, it can turn out “as you are lucky”, the reception is one for the group and for any questions will have to go there, regardless of where you settled. This is the end of my review of Monastery I or Denevi or Teddy Kam and will describe Monastery II.
In general, as I said, Monastery II is located on a rather rugged terrain, the territory has large elevation changes. A complex of buildings with a height of up to conditionally 8 floors, taking into account the stairs of the territories. They settled us in building G on the sixth floor of G28. I want to say that the staircase has a large steepness, and the number of steps per span is 16 - that makes it more difficult to climb. The apartments were well furnished, the furniture was not shabby. The ceiling and walls are painted white, in some places scuffs and traces of small dirt are already visible, but without looking closely you can not notice this. The bathroom has small stains on the ceiling. But all this is not important, the impression of the room remained good. The kitchen is combined with the living room, the kitchen itself is medium in size, all the necessary utensils are available: pots, crockery, cutlery, etc.
The only thing missing was no microwave, had to use an electric oven, the stove is also electric. Household appliances included a refrigerator, a toaster, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, a washing machine and a dishwasher. Well, here the set of household appliances depends entirely on the owners of the apartments. All rooms are privately owned. The living room had a sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table, a dining table, a rack for equipment: TV, satellite set-top box, DVD. There were air conditioners in every room. The bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, ironing board and iron. Access to the balcony was present in every room. But the balcony itself is another story. View of the sea and the pool from the front of the building, and from the end it had a passage and smoothly turned into a large terrace overlooking the sea. On this terrace there was a large table with chairs under a canopy and four sun loungers.
There was still a lot of space, I would not be surprised if my own small pool fit there, but unfortunately it was not there. The bathroom is combined, equipped with an acrylic bathtub. The inconvenience caused the absence of any shelves in the bathroom and a trash can. There was no hair dryer either, but my wife always takes her folding one on the road. Upon arrival in the bathroom there was a bar of soap and two bottles of shampoo. This is for four. There was no mention of shower gel. In principle, we still use only our own shampoo, soap and gel were also with us. But the fact itself, as such. In other hotels where we stayed, no matter what we displayed in the bathroom, these detergents containing surfactants were displayed by the number of residents, and were updated every day. Not here in 12 days. For the sake of interest, I began to pour shampoo into the toilet, no effect.
It is paid, a card with access passwords is bought in the same place at the reception. The cost for one device for 7 days is 20 lev, for 3 devices for 7 days - 45 lev. I won’t hide it, they took it for 45 lev with a fool. The wifi signal is decent. In the morning, until 09-10 hours, you can even dive into its expanses with more or less good speed. Then everything. Constantly lags, falls off. Connecting to the network is a problem. After seven days of trials and nervous shocks, I bought a Telenor SIM card - a mobile operator, 3000 Mb of 4G traffic for 7 days worth 10 levs, distributed it to my household and I was happy at any time of the day, anywhere. By the way, it is possible to extend 1000 MB for 14 days for 5 lev.
We ate at the Manastir mechan. Our breakfasts were included. For each breakfast, we were given a cardboard coupon at check-in, which we gave daily at the restaurant. Breakfast, I must say, did not differ in variety.
This is what we ate in the nearby Dolce Vita, but only spaghetti. As for the rest, we did not betray Manastira in any way. There are not very many people at breakfasts and lunches, but dinner compensates for this fact. The waiters are quite mobile, they fulfill orders and requests with accuracy (I write for a reason, in some places I encountered the opposite). I saw high chairs, but I didn’t see the children’s menu, what they could eat there. Only once we were bewildered, having arrived in the morning at 9.00 (the restaurant from 8.00) we found complete unpreparedness, bare tables, etc. , they began to cover right in front of us. But, it was an isolated case, I want to believe that there were serious circumstances for that.
Swimming pool. Oh, that's a separate issue. Starting from the very opening, service personnel gathered at the tables of the bar: a cleaning lady, maids, bartenders, a pool cleaner. Starting from 10.00, the maids disappeared, followed by a cleaner.
The pool was not cleaned. Dry leaves floated along with the rest. One day the cleaner still decided to clean the pool, but it was only enough for half. He was very tired, went to drink coffee at their table, and by 10.00 he simply disappeared (I even took a photo of the tortured cleaner). The second half was cleaned for him by one of the vacationers in pretty pink shorts. The sun loungers near the pool were equipped with mattresses. Somehow, a cloud that came up in anticipation of rain forced the staff to collect all the mattresses and umbrellas and put them near the bar. We did not wait for the rain, after half an hour the sun came out again. But umbrellas and mattresses were left lying in a pile near the bar. No one thought to put them back. Vacationers themselves slowly dragged them away on sun loungers during the week. By the time I left, all the umbrellas were already in their nests. But on the very last day, bad weather came up and they were removed again.
I don’t even know when they will be returned to their place now. The beach is relatively clean. There are few butts. Sun loungers and umbrellas for 8 lev. There is a large free area where vacationers can safely sit on the sand. Stairs and cobblestones lead from Monastery II to the beach. We constantly ran to swim in the sea and were already used to climbing it, although at first it was difficult. The beach is small, but there was enough space. The sea in the second decade of August was calm.
The pedestrian street where the shopping malls are called Tsar Simeon is located somewhere in a 20-25 minute walk from Monastery II with continuous elevation changes. The street is small: shops with all sorts of souvenirs, clothes (well, not Italy, but good Turkey), restaurants, cafes. There is absolutely no entertainment for children. The unfortunate lunopark is located on the street. Odessa, you can get there on the street. Tsar Simeon get to the post office and turn left, go down a little along the hotel Laguna.
Several trampolines, a bungee, a couple of carousels for kids. That's the whole set. There is animation for children on the beach. Somewhere at 10.00 morning exercises begin, and a little later water gymnastics. In the evening, the Arena amphitheater hosts a children's disco, it starts at 20.00, but only on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. It lasts 1 hour. Animators hold several competitions, award winners in competitions that took place in the morning on the beach (there is a children's corner). One day there is a hit parade. They include 10-12 songs and then count the number of dancers for each song. Prior to the competition, questionnaires are distributed, where you have to guess which songs will take the first three places. At the end of the hitparade, those who guess correctly are given minor prizes. Several times we attended the festivals that took place there in the Arena amphitheater. The first time we got to the festival of folklore music, the second time - children's and youth creativity.
For the sake of variety, you can go, even interesting.
For shopping we went to Burgas. You can get there in various ways. Travel agencies offer shop tours. Our guide offered a tour for 22 leva per adult and 11 per child. Visit MALL Gallery, MALL Plaza, and some other shopping center (I don't remember). Departure at 10.00, back at 14.00. Our friends shared their impression: galloping across Europe, they didn’t really manage to do anything. You can get on your own. To do this, you can get to the bus station in Sunny Beach by bus number 5 for 2.5 leva, and from there you can take a ticket to Burgas for 6 lev. Bus number 8 also goes to Sunny Beach via Sveti Vlas, but it does not go to the bus station, so be careful. The third way is the fastest - taxi. We agreed to drive for 50 lev each way and in Burgas 5 lev from MALL Gallery to st. Aleksandrovsk.
The taxi driver drove us by bypass roads, quite quickly, so we passed the big traffic jams at the entrance to Sunny Beach. According to him, you can lose more than an hour there. We really saw the end of the traffic jam when we left the bypass road onto the main highway. Uncle calmly waited for us until we were shopping and walked around Burgas. We decided to visit MALL Gallery. Quite a large shopping center (not for Muscovites). We stayed there a little more than 3 hours, in general we bought what we wanted, but we didn’t get around everything. I will not say that the prices are lower than in Belarus, but the choice is good. Then we went to st. Aleksandrovsk. This is a shopping street, there are a lot of shops and restaurants. It ends with a monument to a Soviet soldier. In front of the monument, fine water streams are sprayed from under the asphalt. Creating some semblance of fog near the ankles. And then we walked around the Marine Park.
It is quite long, five kilometers. There was an exhibition of sand sculptures at the end of the Marine Park, but we never got there.
To sum up: to be honest, the resort of Sveti Vlas is not much different from the simple resort villages in Bulgaria. The exceptions are probably Nessebar, Sozopol and Byalchik - ancient cities where there is something to see. I do not take into account Burgas and Varna, as these are quite large cities. But, anyway, I liked St. Vlas less than other resorts that I visited, and most of all I got tired of its hilly and high rises. Hotel Monastery II - the biggest drawback is the lack of an elevator and the attitude of the staff to work. Otherwise, everything is fine, there are no complaints about the apartments themselves. But it is unlikely that I will still be going to visit Sveti Vlas and the hotels of the Dinevi group.
