We had a family vacation (children 16 and 6 years old) from August 16 to August 30.2010 through VKO-Travel - TUI.

The general feeling from Bulgaria is depressing. Poverty and garbage are everywhere - along the road from Varna to the Golden Sands resort, on the beach in Golden Sands, in Varna, everywhere! It seems that in Bulgaria the garbage is never removed.

The general attitude of Bulgarians towards Russians is very good and friendly!

Hotel "Golden Yavor" (Golden Yavor) 4 * is a building 300 meters from the sea, 8-10 minutes maximum. You need to go to the sea down the stairs (47 steps, it didn’t bother us). We only took breakfast there.

We correlate the hotel in which we were with good 4 * hotels in Turkey and Egypt. The hotel building itself is new, but the hotel management is poor:

- in the room in which we lived the first night there was mold on the ceiling, a musty smell in the room (changed the room after addressing the problem to the hotel manager).

- in most rooms (and we examined 4 of them when replacing the first one), the central air conditioner does not work well, with strong sunlight it is impossible to breathe in them during the day in summer. If the windows of the room overlook the pool, then it is problematic to open them because of the loud music.

- the music in the pool bar worked until 2.30 am, and then turned on again at 7 am in the morning (we addressed this problem to the hotel manager and still had to call the reception every evening at 24 o'clock and remind them to turn off the music),

- from under the bath on the floor constantly oozing water. Occasionally, at our request, it was repaired, several times,

- filthy carpet both in the room and in the corridors,

- on the check-out bill, we were charged 20 leva for drinks that we did not consume (we addressed this problem to the hotel manager and we did not have to pay).

All problems were addressed by us without a hitch to the manager of the hotel Atanas and they were more or less solved.
Breakfast at the hotel is edible but tasteless.

This hotel is much worse than good 4 * in Turkey, Egypt; worse than 3* in Nice and worse than 2-3* in the USA.

Beach: we went to the beach to the right of the Admiral Hotel. In Bulgaria, all the beaches are given to concessionaires, who tightly lined them with umbrellas and sunbeds. The cost of an umbrella is 7 lev, a sunbed is 7 lev, a mattress is 3 lev (1 lev = 20 rubles). The area where you can stay for free is located far from the water and there are a lot of people on it. At that time, there were few people in the paid zone. When we tried to put our towels down and stick our own umbrella in the paid area, we were approached by two employees of the concessionaire company for this beach area, who unceremoniously threw our umbrella out of the paid area.
We suggested that they call the police themselves and show the title documents for the land on the beach (the shadow from their private umbrellas did not fall on our towels), but they did not do this - we understood that this concession is a semi-criminal business.

The Golden Sands resort is a large pedestrian zone, which is VERY crowded, many different attractions for children, many merchants/photographers/artists and regularly smells like sewage. They also sell boiled corn, popcorn, offer to take pictures with boas and ride children on ponies smelling of amber - in general, a complete set of pleasures!

When flying back at Varna airport, after passing control, all tourists were driven to a small patch, where there were very few places to sit with children, while airport management gave large areas in the departure hall to tenants - cafes and duty free.
We asked why this was done to the airport manager. The answer is "it's not my problem. " The desire to earn an extra penny at the expense of the convenience of passengers and indifference to everything else is impressive!

We were in Bulgaria for the first time, we went in a good mood, but we will never go again. This hotel is not recommended.
