We rested in the Dominican Republic from February 25 to March 9.

FLIGHT:
Flight Kyiv - Frankfurt am Main - Punta Cana. The ticket price was $1245 per person. If you try, you can find cheaper ones. In our case, there was no choice and time due to certain circumstances.
We flew to Frankfurt with Lufthansa. The flight to Frankfurt is about 2 hours. Then 3 hours docking for the next flight to Punta Cana. Everything that is bought in Duty free to Germany will be taken away by German customs officers. Pay attention to it. Condor, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, flies to the Dominican Republic (economy class like “Wizzair”). Flight about 10 hours. Despite the budget option of the airline, they fed normally, 2 full meals and snacks in between. Drinks were offered almost all the time, everything was free except for beer and hard alcohol. Beer 0.33l - 4 Euro, Red label whiskey 50ml - 6 Euro. I recommend to record films, music with you, buy a couple of magazines, because.

on the plane, TV shows relatively old films and series in 3 languages: English, German, Spanish. Who knows one of them well - no problem, but you should take into account - disposable headphones 6 Euro. In general, it is good to fly in the direction of rest, firstly, you are in a state of the upcoming holiday, and secondly, due to the crossing of time zones towards the west, daylight hours increase by 6 hours. Flying back is harder, but more on that later.

ACCOMMODATION:
And now, finally, a hot wind saturated with moisture, a national ensemble, Dominican motifs and a purely formal passport control. We were met by a guide and immediately took to the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe 5 * hotel. The guide warned us right away that no more than 23 kg / person can be taken back in luggage, but in the end it turned out that 18 kg. Pay attention to this, otherwise for 1kg overweight, the surcharge is $31. Hand luggage is not weighed.
Now about the hotel.
The hotel consists of 4 complexes (see the hotel map in the photos):
1) Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe 5*
2) Barcelo Bavaro Family
3) Barcelo Bavaro Casino
4) Barcelo Bavaro Beach 4*
On the territory of the hotel there is where to walk, it is very huge and green. There is something to see, many restaurants, bars, its own shopping center. In general, the hotel can be rated 9 out of 10 points, but for the settlement 2. As it turned out, the hotel had a computer failure half a year ago and the database with preliminary reservations and, in parallel with other information, was covered with a “copper basin”. All data is restored bit by bit at the reception on ordinary paper media, A4 format. Well, as it turned out, the hotel is full and all the rooms are occupied. After 2 hours of proceedings, we were settled in Barcelo Bavaro Beach 4 * for the first night. Then, the truth was compensated with money for $ 30 for two : ) and then thanks to our guide, who knocked out this money from no one knows for us : ) The next day everything went fine. And we settled in.
ROOM:
The room is large and comfortable. We took with a direct view of the ocean. The room has everything you need for everyday life. If you do not forget to leave 1 dollar for cleaning and a minibar, then daily cleanliness, juices and beer are provided : )

STAFF:

All staff are Spanish speaking. No one speaks English and it is practically not understood, except at the reception. But despite this, there were no special problems. You can still explain yourself by learning a couple of Spanish phrases. It would be a wish: ) Everyone is very friendly and kind: ) The Dominican rhythm of life is very slow compared to what we are used to. Dominicans do not always get information from the first time in a store or at the reception. Sometimes I had to explain the same thing over and over again. You need to make allowances for the fact that they are such a people. For example, in a store, the cashier summed up our purchases incorrectly and therefore the total amount turned out to be $270 instead of $105.
Fortunately the senior manager spoke English. It took about 20 minutes to explain her mistake. At the same time, I had to perform addition operations on the reverse side of the check in a column : ) Well, after everything, once again counting all the goods, it really turned out to be $ 105: ) Compared to the Dominicans, our brain is a 4-core computer. Dominicans and slow-witted people are synonyms : ) But they are cheerful and carefree. I personally perceived such situations with a smile, so everything was fine. The second example: our friends tried on the 3rd day to change their room with 2 beds to a room with one large bed. Bottom line: they were evicted from the old one, given the keys to the new one. Well, it turned out that people live there : ) Traditional 20 minutes at the reception, 5 times we explain the situation and get back the keys to the old room : ) That's it! ! !
In order to get into one of them, you need to stand in line of 50 people for about 2 hours, get a ticket and then visit the restaurant. If you arrive later, when there is no longer a queue (around 9 pm), you will hear the standard phrase: “There are no places”. But after $10 is transferred from our pocket to the pocket of the administrator, the seats miraculously appear : ) And I can also recommend the Strikers bar. There you can drink beer and eat tasty meat. Well, again, be prepared for the fact that instead of the ordered 3 dishes, they can bring 1, and after a reminder that I would like to get the remaining 2, they bring 3: ) But not always. Much depends on the waitress.
Also on the territory there are many shops where you can buy souvenirs, rum, cigars. But I do not recommend. Very expensive. For example, in the Deluxe complex store, 12-year-old Imperial rum costs $36. In the Barcelo Beach hotel store, the same rum is $29.

It is best to order a taxi to a regular supermarket back and forth and buy everything you need there. There we bought the aforementioned rum for $10. For example - 400g of Parmesan - $ 4. There are also other varieties of rum, cigars, coffee and the national drink - mamajuana. Everything is 3-4 times cheaper. You can pay everywhere in dollars.
The beach is long and wide. There are no problems with sunbeds. Always full of empty seats. A reef stretches along the coast at a distance of 1 km, on which ocean waves break and therefore it is always calm and calm near the coast. There are no ebb and flow. If you walk to the left along the coast, you can go to a spontaneous market with souvenirs. The choice there is decent, but you need to prepare for an obsessive attack by Dominican merchants. To the right along the coast are very beautiful views and landscapes. The perfect place for photos. If you go even further, you can go to the reef. But this is no longer the territory of the hotel.
In terms of entertainment, there is animation.
All passes near the central building near the pool. Depending on the time of the day, this is exercise, yoga, dancing. There you can also play various games, rent a catamaran or kayak. Everything is free. In the evenings there are concert programs from 8 to 10 pm. There is no disco. And by 11 pm everything calms down. So, for lovers of nightlife, the hotel is not quite suitable.

TOURS:
Guides will offer a choice of several excursions. You can learn more about them on the Teztur website. We took 2 excursions and were very pleased:
1) To the island of Saona. Very well, simply Very beautiful. Recomend for everybody.
2) Sightseeing tour Punta Cana Express. In this excursion, the plus is that in a day you can approximately understand the flavor of the Dominican Republic by visiting cane plantations, visiting a tobacco factory, visiting a real Dominican ranch, and visiting the wild Macao surfer beach, where the Atlantic Ocean reveals all its beauty, where the waves reach 2-3 meters.
Swimming is a pleasure. Another plus of this tour is that they give out a Jeep Wrangler and you are your own boss, driving yourself, accompanied by a guide, of course, but still.

On all excursions, of course, they will be delivered to stores where goods are overpriced, and the Haitians will try to sell 50 cigars at $ 30. As our guide later told us, these are not cigars at all, but twisted, dried banana leaves : )
In general, they were very satisfied with the rest. Didn't want to leave. The flight back is hard. You fly out on Tuesday afternoon and arrive on Wednesday : ) Time zone offset + 9 hours flight time. But fly 1 hour less back, because the earth is spinning towards you.
I will gladly answer all questions. Have a nice holiday everyone.
