The hotel is excellent, rather weak animation.

It was the most unforgettable and magical trip of our lives! My wife and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary from December 16 to December 27.2013. There are almost no complaints about the hotel, only solid pluses! The hotel impresses with its magnificent beach and excellent cuisine. The well-planned infrastructure of the complex will not let guests of any age get bored, if you still doubt where to go on your honeymoon to truly enjoy each other and not be distracted by anything, then I strongly advise you to choose the Dominican Republic and this hotel. So, in detail about the pros and cons:
I will not stop on the flight - it's hard, but tolerable. We flew from trans-aero.
The first impression of the airport Punta - Cana is a shock! Huge thatched bungalow, very unusual. Customs and migration control is a simple formality, you pay $ 10, pick up your luggage and into the arms of a tour operator. Then to a comfortable bus and hotel. Location of the hotel: 25 km from Punta Cana Airport. Throughout the journey, the representative of the tour company talked a lot about the country as a whole and some advice about the rest, exhaustively answered all questions of interest. The hotel actively helped the guest in the rooms, after which he handed an envelope with brochures for excursions and explained with his contacts where to turn for help and left.

We were accommodated very quickly, the staff at the reception is very friendly, they speak English well, even a rather tolerable Russian speaker was present. We purchased a ticket with a regular suite, at the reception we paid extra 40 bucks per day and changed the room to a deluxe. Valuable advice for those who buy a ticket: do not take golf numbers, because. the territory of the hotel is huge and these buildings are close to golf courses, but far from the beach and restaurants. On the territory of the complex, although a train runs, it is still far from the entire infrastructure of the hotel. Unless you are a big connoisseur of privacy or a big fan of golf. The hotel is part of the BARCELO HOTELS & RESORTS hotel group, so the space is just crazy (in 10 days we couldn’t even get around everything). There is an "Aquatic Center" - one of the largest water sports centers in Punta Cana, a children's aqua park and a children's club "Barsi", tennis courts, mini football, a casino, a disco, a grand theater (with its own show group) , a lot of shops, including dutifree (cheaper than at the airport), a huge spa.
Hotel room: The room was given in the 4th building, 3rd floor in the center, overlooking the ocean, spacious, clean, comfortable, king-size bed, jacuzzi on the balcony, in general, a dream for newlyweds!
The room has everything: air conditioning, a sofa, a shower room, a toilet (with a glass door : ), a table, bedside tables, plasma (there are channels in Russian), a safe, there is even a scale, a hairdryer, an ironing board, an iron, tea, coffee, snacks in bags (nuts), bar-refrigerator: beer, juices, cola, water. Wi-fi is paid.
Cleaning in the room daily with the change of all towels (there are 3 for each) and bed linen, replenishment of the mini bar and snacks, change of disposable toiletries. I don’t know if tips affected such a service, they left the maid for 1 dollar / day. But she always ball smiling and friendly (not speaking English at all).
Due to the time difference, the next day I got up at 5 am and went to the beach. It's dawn, and the staff is already ironing the beach and the hotel grounds. They mop sidewalks, clean the pool, lawns, and everything around. Tractor and manually (rakes and brooms) remove algae on the beach. The hotel is located on one of the ten best beaches in the world, it is surrounded by a coral reef, thanks to which the ocean is the cleanest and always calm. We saw large schools of fish, caught stars and hedgehogs. The sand on the beach is white and unusually soft and does not heat up in the sun, there are a lot of sunbeds, not only by the ocean, but also by the pool, so there was no need to "book" them in the early morning. Large palm trees grow, creating a cozy shade.

In the pools, the water is warm, there is no strong smell of chlorine, you can swim around the clock, but there are reminders that chlorine "works" late in the evening, it is not advisable to swim, although in the evening the pools are beautifully illuminated. There are a lot of pools for every taste and color. Shallow for children, deep for adults. There is a built-in bar, hydromassage and Jacuzzi. There are lanes and gates for sports swimming. There is a large pool with a compartment for divers, deep, but small.
There is a lot of food. Great variety of seafood, lobster, lobster, shrimp. All kinds of meat dishes. There are also many fruits, kiwi, bananas, pears, apples, oranges, tangerines, sweet pineapples and watermelons, melon, mango and some other exotic. Lots of pastries and cakes. Breakfast flows smoothly into lunch, then into dinner. You can eat in the air-conditioned room or outside. Even if suddenly you get hungry at night, you can eat in the sports bar 24 hours a day. You just can't stay hungry.
Cocktails and alcohol are delicious! And it's delicious on the beach and in lounge bars, in the cafeteria, on the first and second or third floor in the main building. Walk and drink around the hotel, all inclusive, everything is possible!
Many restaurants by appointment (cards are issued upon check-in, then you first go to the reception and each time you sign up for a new restaurant). All restaurants there are free. The French restaurant alone costs $25. There is a drezcode in restaurants, for men - trousers and closed shoes, for ladies it is more loyal - a ban only on a swimsuit and pareo.
The animation is frankly weak. Mostly dancing on the beach or by the pool, with primitive contests and prizes. In the evening, the show is a performance in the theater (3rd grade).

From excursions they took Fr. Saona $150 per person. Yacht up to 15 places. They offered an individual one for 3000, but they did not take it. The route - the city of artists (the town that the first owner of Paramount pictures built and gave to his daughter, no one lives there, just a beautiful quiet place), then sailed past the celebrity villas in the Caribbean Sea to Catalina Island (sailed to the island, stopped 100 meters from coast, swam for 10 minutes and sailed on), followed directly from it to Saona. Upon arrival, a lunch with lobsters was offered, drinks and alcohol are included. After staying on Saona for several hours, we sailed back, stopping along the way in a small creek and diving for starfish. We also went on a free tour to the cigar and chocolate factory (nothing interesting at all, alcohol only if you buy it home and for gifts). Somehow I didn’t feel like going to Samana, Santo Domingo or the Airborne Forces safari.
In general, the holiday turned out great! You don’t notice minor flaws, from the thought of what heavenly meta you are in.
Tip: tune in to the positive and you will get a lot of unforgettable impressions.
