From June 24.2017 to July 04.2017, our unexpected second visit to the Dominican Republic took place. This time to its southern part of Punta Cana, and more precisely, to the village of Bayajibe. The organizer of the tour this time was Anex, the charter support was provided by Azur. Compare and feel the difference. . .
The tour was bought 36 hours before departure, and there were two hotels in Bayahibe on instant confirmation: the five Be Live Collection Canoa and the four Weare Cadaques Bayahibe Hotel. After reading the reviews about the hotels, we decided to opt for the four, it seemed that this is the case when the four is better than the five and it cost not even much more than the five. It turned out - it seemed. Almost some amazing reviews about this hotel are greatly exaggerated.
Yes, this hotel has two big pluses: the first is a small number of people in it, the second is its location, away from other hotels near the national park and with the best sea on the entire coast of Bayahibe. The sea at this hotel is of amazing colors and the cleanest throughout both along and into the distance. Nearby hotels, the sea was not clean. But for all these two big pluses, you have to pay with some minuses.

The first thing to note is the apart-hotel, so how correct it is to give stars to such a category of hotels is a separate question. This hotel was built for renting apartments by local residents both on weekends and holidays, and for everyday renting. Actually, this is its main purpose and remains to this day.
Check-in took place immediately upon arrival, despite the concept of the hotel, check-in after 15-00. Everyone was given card keys, but we got the usual key to room 12-A of the Capri building. Finding a room for us turned into a small quest. Having examined the entire Capri building from the first to the third floor, they did not find such a room, the staff passing by also did not know where this room was located. Only the third worker was able to show us his door on the first floor without any identification marks. Upon entering the room, we immediately find ourselves in a large kitchen with a new washing machine and a sofa. Not much surprised, we went to look for a bedroom. The bedroom was at the end of the corridor and looked like a bunker, because. the lighting was very poor, more precisely, the backlight only worked in false ceilings, and wires protruded from the cutouts for the bulbs. The main thing is the absence of a window and in its place a false panel with a painted beach and palm trees. The only real window in the kitchen could not be opened, the lock was broken, and the mosquito net was also torn. Laughing hysterically for about fifteen minutes, we went to the reception to change the room. They said there are no rooms for today, tomorrow after 15-00 they will change, although the environment did not look like the hotel was fully occupied. The offer to pay to change today was refused with a comment all tomorrow and for free. At the same time, they were very surprised why we don’t like such a chic room in their opinion. To which I told them that this luxurious room is more suitable for staff accommodation, and not for tourists.
The next day at 11-00 there was a meeting with the hotel guide, who began by asking if everything was in order with the rooms. After describing our number to him, we asked him if this should be our ROH number, after which he immediately went to the reception and said that after the meeting we would change the number. As a remark, I’ll write that a family with two children was with us at the meeting, which said that some insects live in their bed, but this does not interfere with their rest, because. they just moved to the couch. These are probably the people who leave rave reviews about this hotel, or who travel for the first time.
After the meeting, we were taken by electric car to our building to move to another room. Arriving at the building, to number 12 with an electronic lock, the attendant was very perplexed that this was not our number. And in confusion he began to ask where ours was and was very surprised when we showed him our number 12-A. A new room was given on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the central part of the hotel complex, with an unchanged kitchen-corridor.

The second feature of this hotel is the concept of food "all inclusive". It's like it's there, but it's also like it's not. In general, a very conditional concept compared to other hotels. Only water was freely available from drinks, all other non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks must be requested at the bar at the dining room or from the waiters. Only for breakfast they put a machine with soft drinks, made water-based smoothies and put champagne and vodka with tomato juice at the entrance. Coffee for breakfast should be asked from the waiters, who deliver it in thermos-like containers. And at lunch and dinner, in general, all drinks, including water, must be requested through the waiters, who run randomly around the hall and sometimes have to wait a very long time. Why such a complicated and incompetent service is not clear. It's easier to come and pour yourself, but not in this hotel.
Another feature that does not color this hotel is that Spanish-speaking vacationers are a priority in the service of the waiters. To finish the theme with drinks, it is worth noting that there is only one coffee machine for the whole hotel in the bar at the dining room, which is open from 10 to 23-00. All alcoholic drinks are not of high quality produced by Royal. Rum locally produced by Barcelo and Brugal for an additional fee, and the all-inclusive concept is advertised as free.
The food does not differ in particular variety and abundance, of course you won’t stay hungry at all, but sometimes there’s simply nothing to take at all and you have to sit and wait for something to be taken out and empty containers renewed. In addition, there was an incomprehensible constant shortage of vegetable and fruit cuts. There was no olive oil at all “as a class”, there were some liquids with vinegar smells.
Separately, I would like to describe the procedure for hunting for fruits, because. they were in constant and unceasing shortage. About the following happened, several dozen pairs of eyes, just like predators on the hunt, follow the exit from the kitchen and wait for the solemn removal of fruit. As soon as this removal occurs, all the followers are undermined and run one faster than the other to the distribution in order to have time to take ripe fruit. Whoever lost in this race simply remained, without departing from the distribution, and waited for the next fruit takeout.

It is also worth noting the features of cleaning the room category ROH. As it turned out, room cleaning must be ordered at the reception. On the fourth day we ordered cleaning, but it was not done. In the evening, having met a hotel guide at dinner, we asked why we had not been cleaned. He counted the number of days we lived and said that he would order cleaning of our room for tomorrow. But by lunchtime, again, none of the staff showed up. As it turned out, we still need to hand over the key for 2-3 hours for cleaning. they don't have duplicate plain keys. The long-awaited cleaning finally took place, but the bed linen was never changed. And the left 50 pesos remained untouched. After a couple of days, we again ordered room cleaning and, through the hotel guide, asked to change the bed linen. But this time it didn't change.
In general, the rest can be considered completed, because. good company and a wonderful sea left us in a positive mood. But if you want to get a carefree holiday with the concept of "all inclusive", then this is not the hotel option. Here you need to constantly walk and achieve this or that, which, as it were, is supposed to be, but not provided until you ask.
