We rested in this hotel in June 2011, as a family, with a child of 10 years old (boy). Flying with Air France. I liked the flight very much, despite the fact that it was long and with a transfer, absolutely not tiring, the service from the company is at the highest level, that the food is the service, the flights are all on schedule. So the flight there and back was very easy. We ordered tickets ourselves on the Internet, ordered a children's menu for a child and a seat on the plane. Places got what they ordered. The child was brought a special menu, chic, with fruits, sweets and even small gifts on a large plane to the Dominican Republic from Paris.
I liked the hotel right away. It was not the most expensive of the proposals under consideration, there were hotels much more expensive, but this hotel did not disappoint us. Firstly, its very big plus is a large territory. Even more correct to say huge. For 12 days, they did not bypass everything. The complex consists of three hotels plus a VIP hotel Royal Suites. The territory and all infrastructure is common to all hotels of the complex, except for the services of the Royal Suites. They have a couple of restaurants and bars of their own that guests of other hotels are not allowed to enter. But there is enough to go without them. A steam locomotive runs around the complex. If you don’t want to walk (although it’s also not so far, about 15 minutes to the Bavaro Hotel), then you can get anywhere by train in a couple of minutes.
We lived in the 2000 building. There are euro sockets but the voltage is 110 volts! If you need an adapter, they are sold in any store on the territory of the complex. There were no problems with accommodation. We had a deluxe promo room booked. This is how we found out later the most basic rooms are not with the best location. At first we were settled on the first floor, it is very damp there. At the reception, without any problems, within half an hour we were changed to a room on the third floor, since there were no second ones, for a not very large additional fee. They have these rooms with ocean view and they charge $15 for that. per day extra. We changed for half the price and plus another on the trail. day the satisfied manager of the reception gave us a gift - a bottle of rum and fruit. A trifle but nice.

The rooms are good. As for the interior and decoration, in Turkey and Egypt, the rooms looked richer in good hotels. But we don't really bother with it. Since we spend little time in the room. Yes, the rooms are not very new. But literally on the second day you don’t pay attention to it, they are spacious and the room has everything you need, including an iron with an ironing board and a coffee machine. It is very convenient. You get up before dawn, drink your morning coffee on the terrace and go to the beach. Mini bar (beer, cola, fanta, sprite and drinking water) is replenished every day, as well as coffee and tea.
The bathroom has a jacuzzi, there are all the necessary accessories, even disposable razors. There are rooms with a jacuzzi in the room, this is for romantics or honeymooners. Room cleaning is good and thorough. Towels are changed every day. It is true that tips do not affect the quality of cleaning. Either way, it'll be good. We left but not every day. A couple of times they made beautiful figurines out of towels. Another distinctive feature of cleaning there is that every day the bathroom is decorated with freshly picked beautiful red flowers.
People leave the books they read in the lobby, so if you forgot the reading, you can always find something to read. There were many books and magazines in Russian.
The hotel itself and the entire complex are located in a tropical garden with coconut palms. You can ask the gardener and he will pick and cut a fresh coconut for you for $1.

The food is just great. Very varied and very tasty. They have no shortage of restaurants. We did not have time to visit all the restaurants during our stay. A very good restaurant near the pool and the beach for breakfast and lunch. From our building we went straight to the restaurant, and there you are almost on the beach. Very comfortably. For dinner, we went to the main restaurant of the Bavaro Hotel, there is much more choice. Or in A la Carte restaurants. Were 2 times in Japanese, there is a menu, sushi or chef's show, but you have to sign up for it at 6 pm the same day. They cook very tasty food there, and the menu and the chef's show really liked it. I also recommend the Spanish restaurant, very tasty and refined. We celebrated my husband's birthday there and were very pleased. Also were in Brazilian and Mexican. Brazilian is very tasty and interesting to visit. First you take a snack buffet, then the meat service begins. Several types of grilled meat and fish are worn on large skewers in turn. They offer until you turn the card on the table to the red side. This means that you will no longer be meat. Then they bring a menu with desserts. Mexican food is good too, Mexican food well cooked but many of it spicy. But for children there is a separate menu. In general, in this hotel you can find dishes for every taste. They even have a Russian salad (like Olivier) and by the way it's very good. All types of meat - pork, veal, chicken; fish, seafood, cooked in different forms - and stewed and fried and baked, whatever your heart desires. The Bavaro Hotel has a themed menu for dinner every day - Italian, Spanish, Dominican, International, etc. kitchens. There are always several types of pizza (very tasty) in all restaurants for lunch and dinner.
Freshly squeezed juices for breakfast, and which ones are papaya, pineapple, banana, watermelon, melon, mix, and even vegetable juices. They are in decanters, we did not immediately notice them. In addition, the machines also have good juices, orange, and a couple of other types, not Jupi! Coffee is poured by the waiters, the coffee is also very tasty. There was no champagne (as read in the reviews before the trip) for breakfast!
Fruits - watermelons, melons, papayas, mangoes, passion fruit, pineapples. Wine for lunch and dinner is poured from bottles, the wine is very good, Chilean dry, red and white. Very tasty beer. I really liked the service in the restaurants. I didn’t have time to go to the restaurant, they will immediately come to you, set the table if there are more people, offer drinks. Always full of free tables in restaurants, everything is always clean, covered and cleaned. At the entrance to restaurants, hands are treated with an antibacterial liquid.
Ala Carte restaurants are also not a problem to get into. There is no pre-registration (except for the Japanese on the chef's show). If you arrive before half past seven in the evening, you can always sit down immediately. If there are no free tables, they give a pager that will light up when a table is free. Usually you wait no more than 30-40 minutes. During this time, you can go to the bar, drink a cocktail. Everything they have in this regard is very thought out, no hype and flea market. Please note that there is a dress code for dinner in restaurants, trousers or Bermuda shorts are required for men, shorts are not allowed.
Lobby bars make delicious cocktails. Very popular and also delicious cocktails with rum, mojito, banana mama, pina colada. There is live music in the lobby in the evenings every day.
On the beach there are kiosks with drinks and the same cocktails. There is no bar as such to sit at a table, you take drinks to the beach.

There is a kids club and a teens club (called Black and White). The second one saved us a lot. There are game rooms (Play Station, Xbox, and other game consoles, a large selection of games on discs), billiards and small tennis. Club for children from 10 years old but allowed at 8-9. There are many Russians in this hotel. Our son met Russian boys and they spent their afternoons at this club. There are animators there, for their own older children, who watch the children and they also play games with them near the pool, sometimes organize competitions. Small children have their own animation, they saw a girl on the beach with small children, she also worked with them and played. Everyone speaks Spanish or English. But we had no problems with this because we are friends with English.
There is a large sports ground, a couple of tennis courts, a football field, volleyball, tables for small tennis.
Very beautiful pond with flamingos near the reception of the Bavaro hotel. There is also a smaller pond at the will of the Palladium Palace.
There is a sports bar, open around the clock, where you can always have a bite or a drink. But we never got to it : ) Located opposite the flamingo pond on the territory of the Bavaro Hotel. In the same place, a little further if you go through the Teen Club about which I wrote. The pools are large, beautiful, but we did not swim, only the child ran, so I can not say anything.
Good shows in the evenings. There are two amphitheatres, there is also a bar, the waiters go around offering drinks, which is very convenient. And you watch the show, and you drink a cocktail.
The staff is mostly very friendly, everyone smiles and says hello. There, the main key to the success of a tourist is a smile. If you smile, then you will be greeted with joy. There were a couple of times that we walked in the evening with a child, if electric cars serving the Royal Suites or other cars serving the complex were driving, they always stopped and offered a ride.
The animation in this hotel is very good, both on the beach and by the pool. Charging, dance lessons, volleyball, football on the beach, beach games, competitions. Who wins during the day in games and competitions, in the evening before the show in the amphitheater, the winners are awarded. Adults are given a bottle of rum or coffee, children mostly caps. My son and I won twice and received coffee and a cap with the hotel logo as a gift.

But the most impressive of course there is the ocean, the beach and very beautiful nature. For this it is worth going there. Due to the time difference, we got up early, we were already at the beach at seven in the morning or even earlier. In the morning it is especially beautiful there, there are almost no people, the ocean is very beautiful, an unusual turquoise color, all this is beautifully combined with a delightful dawn, and small clouds in the sky. The water is very warm. The sand is really white, you walk in the sea like on a carpet. When we were there, there were no waves, the ocean was warm and gentle. Great for kids. Near the beach is shallow. So there is where to swim for both adults and children.
The beach is good, there are a lot of sunbeds, but to get a good place in the shade, you need to take sunbeds from the early morning. I came at half past seven, and the best places in the shade closer to the ocean were already taken! Although there you can always find a place and a sunbed even if you come later. But it will be either the end of the beach or in the sun. The sun is very active, you get burned in a jiffy, we took a cream with protection 50, we didn’t get burned even once and tanned, nevertheless, not bad either.
As for the time difference, it is very noticeable and we did not fully adapt even by the end of the holiday. You wake up very early, but by 10 o'clock in the evening you are already terribly sleepy.
The climate there is really very damp, you hang towels or a wet swimsuit and they do not dry, so you need to take clothes with the expectation that there is less washing.
We were afraid to get into the season of tropical showers, which we read about as we were driving in the summer. We were not very lucky with the weather in the first three days upon arrival. It rained quite often and lingering, but as we were told, we got into a cyclone, which came there just a couple of days before our arrival. Three days later, the weather improved, it was hot and not a drop dripped. Although even when it rains, it is still warm, and after a couple of minutes of rain there are no traces of it. Once we waited out such a downpour on the beach under an umbrella.
As for excursions and souvenirs, they are all very expensive. We were on the island of Saona, it's in the Caribbean. They promised very beautiful nature. But we were not particularly impressed, the beach is no worse than in the hotel, And the sea is knee-deep, so you can only dip and swim there. Lunch was included, so-so. So this tour is not worth the money.

As for souvenirs, cigars and rum, we read that they are very cheap there, but I would not say that, good cigars and rum are not so small there. Although you can bargain with them. Popular souvenirs from the Dominican Republic are rum, cigars, coffee, and decorations made from their national larimara stone.
The only thing that marred our holiday a bit was the loss of a mobile phone. They forgot in the lobby, returned after 15 minutes and it was already gone, nothing was given to the reception and there were no tourists in the lobby at that time. Very strange. We have forgotten things on vacation more than once, and always found them at the reception without any problems. But the country is poor, and as I understand it, if someone has forgotten something, then the owner of these things is the one who found it. Most likely one of the staff. So keep an eye on things, don't forget anything. From people I also heard that they read about such cases of thefts in this hotel. Although they left an expensive camera on the beach when they went swimming, money and nothing was ever lost. But there are tourists, many foreigners who usually never take anything. But in any case, you have to be on the lookout.
Nevertheless, we were very satisfied with our stay. This is a country where you want to return, because the nature and views there are indescribably beautiful, you feel as if you are in paradise. Upon arrival home, the negative was gone, but the nostalgia for the Dominican Republic remained. Next year, if possible, we will go again, although we try not to go to the same place twice. As for the hotel, I would love to rest there again. Moreover, there are still many places where we have not had time to visit. So if you choose this hotel, I think you will be satisfied. All pleasant rest and positive emotions.
