Now about the incident itself. November 20.2019 at 20 pm we left the Mirage Club room on the 3rd floor. The next day early in the morning at 6 am we had an excursion to Santo Domingo, we decided to take sandwiches and fruits in a container for the morning in the Mirage Club area (2 minutes walk), return to the room, put food in the refrigerator and go to dinner . I had a handbag, in it in my wallet were 250 dollars + a trifle of 1 dollar each and a phone. Since we will be back soon and our hands will be busy, somehow I automatically left my purse in the room on the table. Closed. The card was in my pocket. Our room was the farthest, closest to the beach. When we left the room, I noticed that a hotel worker of average height was standing in the corridor at a distance of 5-7 meters, leaning on the balcony and looking in our direction. I thought to myself: “It’s strange why he doesn’t work, is he resting or something. ”
We went to the elevator, 2 other workers were working, removing the brown decorative thing. We went down the elevator, chose a quick meal and went back. When we reached the room, out of the corner of my eye I saw that the same worker was standing on the right and looking at us. They swiped the key card and the red signal went off. It must be green for the door to open. And then the handle turns from the inside !! ! And a frightened hotel worker comes out! Skinny and tall. With sunken cheeks. Says "Ola! " (Hello), passes sharply between us, and quickly walks away. We are shocked. I quickly go into the room, look at the table where the handbag is. And she's open! I shout to my husband, stop him! A purse that lay flat lies crooked. Quickly counting dollars, everything is in place. The phone is in place. We go out into the corridor - they both disappeared. There is no one standing on the floor, no thief. And the corridor is very long, in a couple of minutes you will only reach the end. We check the safe, where the rest of the money was, everything is in order.

The thieves. They work in a gang. One is watching, the second is looking for money in the room. They thought we'd go to dinner and we'd be gone for a long time. It wasn't there. We were very lucky, we could stay. If we went to dinner, the purse would be with me, they would come in, find nothing and leave. And we wouldn't know about it. In the Majestic Mirage club room, a butler is given to the room, with whom any problems are solved through correspondence in whatsapp (enrollment in restaurants, missing mugs in the room, etc. ). Immediately wrote to the butler about this egregious case. He replied that now he is not at the hotel, he will be tomorrow, at the time when we will be on the tour. The next day he wrote if we need his help in anything, as he had asked before. And that's all. We were very uncomfortable. The thieves quickly realized that we had captured their faces and fled. I didn't even have time to close my bag.
We had the idea to return to this hotel. But we won't go back after this. The remaining days carried all the money with them. The safe no longer inspires confidence. I read reviews about different hotels, they steal both from a safe and do not touch if the money is in the public domain. In this hotel, which is a class higher than the next to it, Bahia and Rio, all the same theft. Very gross and unpleasant. Tipping the maid and bartenders left every day. Butler was also planned to leave on the last day. But after this incident, they changed their minds. Very sad.
