Good afternoon! Rested in this hotel from late November to early December (20.11-04.12. 11). I'll start with the weather, as there are questions on this topic. 1. The wind was strong enough for kitesurfing (there were such specialists during my stay there); though not every day ; -), every third was a lull. In general, if you swim, it is almost always windless early in the morning, until 9 o'clock (the sun rises around 7, sets behind the mountains at 15.30). 2. The sea was warm, always! True, as usual, when you go in warmed up in the sun, it seems icy : -) But it takes a little getting used to and then “you can’t pull it out by the ears” : -), each swim stretched for an hour or two. 3. Cloudless throughout the rest. True, despite the bright and pouring sun, the first two days she froze while sunbathing in clothes : -); the wind is strong, and apparently there was acclimatization. And then the wicker screens were freed from the wind, and the brave soldiers of the Schweiks and Hans (Germans and Czechs predominate among the vacationers), who did not tremble in the wind leaving the water, inspired to swim : -) You can swim in the evening and at night, access to the beach is open around the clock. True, I read in the reviews that in the evening predators swim up to the shore : -), but no one touched me in the evening - I swam around 18.00. / “they will hit with a discharge of current” (so, for wit, not very strong, the sensations are a strong tingling); but this is only in parts very remote from the coast (I swam far from the coast so that scuba divers and snorkellers do not interfere, there are apparently such Scuba divers even at night with a flashlight in the sea - they study corals and apparently crave a meeting with predators : -)) It is more convenient to enter the sea from the pier, only then there is no time to get used to the water, there is quite busy traffic. And if you want to slowly, gradually getting used to the temperature of the water, enter, that is, the “fairway” opposite the stand with a description of the coast (on the very left side of the beach, if you stand facing the sea), there are large pebbles under your feet (went in barefoot). In other places near the coast (at the level of “water to the waist / to the chest”) there is an almost continuous strip of coral reefs, so you can scratch your stomach or legs at the entrance. In the pool, the water, according to my feelings, is colder than in the sea; apparently the sea after the summer has not yet cooled down, and in the pool the "fresh" one does not have time to warm up in a short winter sunny day (the pool is not heated). Of the other activities on the beach - volleyball, darts, belly dancing, playing balls (very similar to French Pé tanque, but I can’t say for sure, I haven’t tried it). The last three events are hosted by a girl from Russia, Natasha (this is for those who are afraid of problems with understanding the rules of the game : -)). I never met anyone else who understood Russian : -). At the front desk (at the entrance to the hotel) I saw how our woman tried to figure out the exchange rate of dollars for Egyptian pounds with gestures : -), I had to participate in the conversation (the rate was $ 1 = 5.7 Egyptian pounds). In Dahab, the exchange rate is better : -) ($1 = 5.93), the exchange place is to the right of the “Hard Rock Dahab Club” (Russian scuba diving center) black door “Why not. . . ". Yes, even on the beach you can study the starry sky, at least all night long, under the protection of local staff, 2 watchdogs and a cat : -). And in the Bedouin tent closest to the beach (on the very left side of the beach, if you are facing the sea) there is a small library of Russian books : -), at the entrance to the hotel there are also some printed materials left by previous vacationers on the tables. In Dahab you can still go in for windsurfing, there is a pleasant lagoon, without strong waves. Of the excursions, I was in Petra (Jordan, 220 US dollars) and in the monastery of St. Catherine (130 Egyptian pounds = about 22 US dollars), both with King Safari Dahab. The monastery has a service open to the "outside world" from 4 to 5 pm, the entire service is sung in Greek, I liked it very much. The entrance at this time to the church from the yard, the local Bedouin guards will tell you how to get there. More about possible excursions, to the left (facing the sea) of the hotel beach there are Bedouin huts, in the third there is a Bedouin named Ibrahim (he usually waters his garden in the morning, around the hut : -) waters), speaks Russian and organizes excursions in any direction, if you want something individual, for example, Peter for two days, and not 1 like everywhere else, then try to contact him. The food is normal, there was no particular variety, seafood met once and did not get : -), it was too many who wanted to try them. There was always fish (lunch and dinner), but only one kind and always in batter. Milk is not enough : -( The atmosphere is very friendly, everyone is smiling, the staff is joking : -) Cleaning is normal, dust is swept off open surfaces, the floor is wiped, towels and linen are changed, swans are made, sometimes just on a whim : -) (I mean, no tips), general cleaning (wash the tiles in the bathroom, wipe the walls from innocently killed mosquitoes, etc. ) was not a long time ago, and a spontaneous leak from the sink in the bathroom (constantly, regardless of the position of the faucet), so in 5 days they did not guess to eliminate : -) The atmosphere is calming, no one is rowdy, no scandal; sometimes only in ecstasy, from what they saw in the underwater world, tourists began to speak loudly and with expression to exchange impressions on the beach. But you can’t be angry with them, because they disturbed / woke you up not at night in bed, but on the beach (so to speak, in a public place ): -), and we all sometimes express our emotions quite noisily in a state of passion : -) And more , Dahab is located on the Sinai Peninsula, so if you are on vacation for no more than 15 days and are not going to "step into" the territory of Egypt (outside Sinai), then you can save on a visa, i. e. instead of a stamp for $ 15 apply for a free Sinai visa. If you have any questions, write, I will try to answer : -)
