In early November, after much thought WHERE TO go (and the whole world is not enough! ) The choice fell on Egypt (because it was visa-free, and we didn’t have time for visas), but I really didn’t want banal stuff like Hurghada or Sharma . . And we found it! Egyptian Venice - El Gouna. There was a certain risk, besides, I read not very flattering reviews about the hotel and the "construction site nearby. " So - it turned out that 95% of the reviews and PHOTOS (which was especially surprising! ) Refers to Panorama Bungalows, but in HURGHADA, and not in El Gouna! This is a hotel chain, but it is not clear how to confuse them.
In El Gouna, the hotel is simply wonderful: 1) the food is amazingly tasty, varied, of high quality (NEVER any troubles about the gastrointestinal tract, although I have a hypersensitive one) + every day for dinner has its own theme, for example, Egyptian on Wednesday - all the waiters are dressed like ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the menu has national dishes, or, if the theme is Italian, then there are dishes of Italian cuisine and the waiters are almost real Italians;
2) the rooms are clean, cleaned every day;

3) the staff is very polite and inconspicuous;
4) a large area, incl. and a swimming pool, but there are few people everywhere.
In general, one of the advantages of El Gouna is the absence of crowds. Of course, there are people, but they are scattered throughout the resort and everywhere there are a maximum of 5 people - on the hotel beach, by the pool. A little more people on the island-beach of Zeituna.
The architecture of the resort is amazing - not a single building is repeated, each has its own "zest", although they are all made in the same style - Moorish and Mediterranean: low (max. 3 floors), with semicircular roofs, carved windows - look like toys.
The infrastructure is very well thought out: it has its own library, a school, even a branch of Cairo University, its own traffic rules (speed limit 60 km max. ), its own police, called "El Gouna Security", you just can't enter the territory - there is a barrier and the people who enter are carefully checked documentation. Maybe that's why there are no annoying Arabs.
Of course, the canals of El Gouna deserve a separate word, which give it a resemblance to Venice. The water in them is sea, in the deepest place the depth is somewhere around 1.60 m, i. e. drowning is very difficult : ) Indescribable beauty, you must see it! You should definitely go by boat along the canals, you can go with a boatman (many boat stations, as well as your own small port), but we ourselves rented a boat ($ 40 per hour per boat, up to 6 people fit into it) - we rode along the canals, amazing! You can also rent a scooter / quad bike / bike, whatever you like. We took a scooter, got on it to the most remote corners, very interesting! In general, El Gouna itself (the territory) can be explored in just a few days - it is so big and diverse, you can walk everywhere, no one will say a word across, and it is very green!

We got 2 beaches, because. our building was across the canal from the main building. At first we were upset, and then it turned out there were advantages: we were on the central island - El Kafre, a minute's walk from all kinds of restaurants, cafes, banks, in general, in the center - and at the same time it was very quiet with us; and for us the passage by boat between the banks of the canal was free, while for those living on the "main bank" it was 5 Eg. pounds per day.
The sea is warm, clean, amazing color. In the open sea, first from the shore there is a decrease of 7 meters, then 300 meters there is a sandy shoal, then corals and immediately the depth is bottomless! Very unusual! Corals climbed to watch, they got pretty hard, special. slippers were torn to pieces, in general, too much effort for these fish, although they swam with a mask and photographed corals, sea urchins and fish. Therefore, I personally liked watching the underwater world from a submarine more - there is no constant struggle with the elements (there was a strong wind and constantly blown to the side).
From excursions we went to Luxor and on a submarine. Luxor was very impressed, I didn’t regret for a second that we went, we learned a lot of new things. The submarine was somewhat disappointing: the tour time was declared to be almost 5 hours, while approaching the submarine it turned out that it was not 5, but 2 hours, in reality, 50 minutes! And then, at first, one half of the tourists watches the fish, and then the submarine turns around, and the second half sees the same thing (and, accordingly, the other half just looks at the thickness of the blue water - that is, the fish are only on ONE SIDE of the boat. For $ 55 for 1 person. I think it’s a bit expensive for this, but they ticked the box - they visited, they looked, now I’ll have enough of these fish for the rest of my life)
It is much more interesting to study El Gouna itself - the place is very romantic, quiet, without fuss, I repeat. 10 days flew by like a blink! And I will definitely go back there!
