Vacationing with my husband. In Egypt for the third time (before that they were only in the top five). We once went on an excursion to El Gouna and really wanted to live in this calm, beautiful place. El Gouna is not for parties - rather a place for a calm, measured, family vacation.
A ticket to this hotel was taken last-minute - the day before departure, so we got into it by accident - so to speak - neglecting!

My first impression of the hotel was shock! - A small shabby reception, there are no air conditioners and even sofas in the hall where tourists who have just arrived can sit.
We arrived in the afternoon - we were immediately sent for lunch.

MAIN RESTAURANT - plastic dishes. . . The food is normal, we have never been poisoned))), but you will not find variety and fruits here. Instant coffee only. They call juices - "yupi", dissolved in water. There is always enough food, if it runs out, they immediately report it. I didn’t watch the queues, sometimes I was for pasta and pancakes (no more than 4 people).
Settled in quickly.
ROOM (to the right of the reception in a three-story building on the third floor) - the first one we were given was a small one with a double bed, dirty walls, a huge broken creepy stone table, one small window overlooking the parking and construction and a walk-in shower. (I still regret that I didn’t take a picture of all this horror! ). When I saw this, I almost burst into tears! I think they keep this number in this condition on purpose - great business! - from this room for 20-30 bucks everyone is bursting with sparkling heels (then I heard more than once about this room on the beach and by the pool from just arrived... ). You can wait for the guide and you will be moved for free, but most likely only the next day.
In short, we paid for a normal room with a sea view, a terrace, a bathroom, and a huge room - and were quite satisfied (photo in the application of this particular room). A large bottle of water is delivered to the room daily, cleaning every day. We didn't leave anything for tea. Once given in the hands of a smiling cleaner. Bed linen was never changed for 7 nights, but we didn’t really want to... Towels are changed only if you put them on the floor - world practice, you just need to know about it!
TERRITORY OF THE HOTEL - small, well-groomed enough. Bungalows on the water look great. One pool, but since the hotel itself is small, there were always plenty of free sunbeds. Sun loungers - good, mattressless, a lot of umbrellas. There are also sun loungers with umbrellas by the water on the banks of the canal. The pool, as the guide said, is open from dawn to dusk - in fact, out of 7 days - 5 days the pool was cleaned until 10 am by men with hooks - it's disgusting to even see - let alone climb into this water...

SEA AND CANALS - the hotel is not located directly on the coast, but along the canal you can get from the hotel by free motor boat - 5 minutes (it runs every hour to the sea and back from 10-00 to 18-00). We really liked this idea! You can also swim in the canal itself (the water in it is sea, flowing, since all canals have a connection with the sea) - a sandy beach, a good entrance and no muck under your feet (you can do without slippers), clean water. Regarding the withdrawal of sewers into channels (I saw in previous reviews) - this is not true and complete nonsense! and we also did not observe any stench from the channels! And the fact that in some places the canals are polluted (this is where the wind nails mud in the backwaters to the shore) - so gentlemen tourists - you yourself dump these empty glasses and plastic bottles there! (when we walked along El Gouna - we saw how the staff cleans these channels - they scoop out of them what negligent tourists sketched out).
At sea, a long pontoon to a coral reef with a descent into the sea. Walking along it is a pleasure! Unfortunately, we managed to swim with the fish only once... a constant strong wind, but the reef is good and there are a lot of fish. But because of the wind, kite surf schools are constantly working. If you are interested, then you are here!
Also, you can (and should) walk to the sea (10-15 minutes with a calm, measured step).
The peculiarity of El Gouna is that the territories of all hotels are open - if you want to take a walk - take a walk, look, you can lie down on sunbeds by the sea if you want - no one will drive you away. The guards of all hotels are friendly and talkative, if you get lost, they will tell you how to get to the sea or to your hotel. There are, of course, closed private territories, but they are on separate islands and, as a rule, small - you will see them - they don’t let you in there, which the guard at the entrance will tell you about if you suddenly wandered there. For the rest - I don’t want to walk - it’s very interesting, there are very beautiful hotels with huge territories, there are smaller ones - for every taste.
CONTENT - most of the Russians, the rest - Germans, Bulgarians, Finns, Belarusians, etc.
STAFF - smiling, friendly, but poorly trained. At first, Russians are treated with apprehension (until you yourself smile at him, he will pretend that you are not there) - but we are solely to blame for such an attitude of foreigners towards Russians.
Yes, it's important! - we went on 2 excursions that started at 3-30 at night - they never woke us up (although we asked) and both times they forgot to make a dry ration (they ran when we approached the reception).
