Good day to all! I was in Egypt for the 3rd time (my wife for the 12th). Was in hotels: Continental Plaza Beach Resort 5 * (Sharm El Sheikh), Hilton Long Beach Resort 4 * (Hurgada). Now here is Sol Y Mar Makadi Sun 4* (Hurgada). Rested from 26.04 to 03.05 2012.

Before going to this hotel, I read a lot of reviews (mostly positive), I liked one in the manner of presentation (I never wrote it myself) - I decided to write my own review in the same manner.

My review will be divided into sections:

1. Flight, accommodation and room
2. Nutrition
3. Territory
4. Animation and sports
5. Beach
6. Service
7. The contingent of vacationers
8. Water park

And so in order

1. We ourselves are from the glorious city of Ryazan. The tour was bought from the local travel agency "Treasure Island" - the guys were responsible (they immediately responded when unforeseen circumstances arose with a return departure from the airport), they told everything, explained and issued it quickly). We got to the airport by a regular bus Ryazan-Lukhovitsy-Kolomna-Domodedovo departing at 8.00 (500 rubles per person).
(I had to hire a taxi back in advance (2500 rubles a car), because they arrived late - after the last (at 24.00) bus flight). We took off at 14:50. The flight was normal (the A-320 plane (the reverse A-321 is a little larger) is not the most cramped, compared to the Boeing-757; the food is also “not bad”, but they save on juices). Closer to 19.00 (local time - at 17.00) we flew to Hurghada, received a visa and filled out the documents (by the way, you need to buy a visa not at the counters with the names of tour operators (there it is $ 17), but at the counters located to the right and slightly behind - here it costs the prescribed $ 15 and without any queue), passed the inspection and received the luggage. We arrived at the hotel in the evening (it was already time for dinner), everyone was placed in the lobby bar, while paperwork was being processed, they brought cold juice. The expansion went quickly. We got room 153, it was adjacent (there was an internal wooden door to the next room - accordingly, a lot of audibility from there).
They asked to change, without any altercation (and money) they gave another room - 147, overlooking neighboring hotels. Other rooms overlook the courtyard with a swimming pool and a summer cafe, where people (especially the Germans) sit for beer until late at night. The room is clean; the furniture is old, but not junk (the beds are iron, they stand separately and are screwed to the wall - you can’t move them together); regular (not LCD) TV with a bunch of channels (3 Russian); a small combined bathroom with a shower, there was a hairdryer (an important thing for women), all plumbing was in good order. The room has a filled minibar, naturally paid. 1 bottle of water 1.5 liters upon arrival free of charge (then you can take water from the pool bar). The bedside table was hidden in a closet in a small hallway. In general, the room - like a room - is standard for hotels in Egypt. We came to the sea, and not to hang around in the room all day! ! !
Yes, we took Fumitox with us, but it was not useful - there were no mosquitoes in the room, and there were no other living creatures either (octopuses and ants came across in other hotels).

2. The food is good, quite varied. Breakfasts are almost the same every day, but there are many dishes, there is something to choose from: eggs of all kinds, pancakes, several types of muesli, porridge, pastries, sausage, cheese, vegetables (cucumbers and ground tomatoes are delicious), fruits, hot buns with sausage. For lunch and dinner: 2 soups, meat (beef in various versions), chicken, fish, seafood, all kinds of side dishes, vegetables, cheeses, various spices, pastries, spaghetti, all sorts of baked vegetables, for dinner there is also a grill and pizza, with you baked. For late breakfast and afternoon tea cakes and buns at the pool bar. You can also dine at the Taverna bar on the beach. All day: beer (good, not diluted), wine, local spirits, cocktails in bars, ice cream, tea, coffee, cappuccino, all sorts of soda, powdered juices.
Local seasonal fruits, in our arrival were: melons and green bananas, apples, dates, guava, oranges, grapefruits, tangerines. We never got poisoned by anything, we ate salads and other cold snacks, everything is fine.

3. The territory of the hotel itself is not large, but you can use the territories of the entire Madinat Makadi, these are about 7 hotels united by one fence. Everything is very beautiful, the trees are trimmed into bizarre shapes, everything is blooming and fragrant. Everything in the area is very clean. On the main street of Madinat there are shops with souvenirs, the prices in them are the same as in Hurghada, bargain boldly, they will drop half the price. There is a grocery store, several restaurants (with national cuisine) and a bank (with a 24-hour ATM). In the evening you can ride the Taf-taf (such a train). There is a general disco, open on Wednesdays, but we did not go to it. The spa center is located next to the hotel.

4. Animation at a high level.

Girls (ours - Sasha and Nastya) and boys (Arabs) try their best (especially for children, there is a kids club). During the day you will be offered to do gymnastics, aqua aerobics, belly dancing, volleyball, boccia, water polo. In the evening every day some show (karaoke, belly dance, live music, bingo bingo (I won two prizes! ), etc. ) and a disco. On Mondays, a sports olympiad is held among Madinat hotels. The hotel has fitness equipment (fitness room), billiards (until 24 hours free of charge), table tennis.

5. The hotel is located on the 2nd line, but it is not far to go to the sea (250 meters through the Makadi Club hotel), especially in such a beautiful area. The beach has its own (although you can swim on any, but everyone has their own sunbeds - they will culturally ask you to leave), sunbeds (cots) have always been enough for everyone (because most Germans preferred to relax by the pool).
The entrance to the sea is very convenient, sandy (perhaps the best in the bay), you can go barefoot, although it is better to wear special shoes. Not far from the coast there are coral reefs, they are fenced with buoys. If you confidently stay on the water, then it is quite possible to swim to them and even swim around, especially near the reefs, a shallow on which you can safely walk. But the reefs are not very beautiful (my wife swam with a mask) and the variety of fish does not differ (corals are much better in Sharm al-Sheikh! ) Because the sea is shallow and the bottom is sandy, the water is not very clear, especially when the sea is restless (in the morning and a small breeze always blew during the day - a lot of jellyfish were nailed, and in the evening (sometimes) it was completely calm. By the end of the vacation, we learned that there are beautiful corals at the Prima Life Makadi 4 * hotel, this is to the right (if you look at the sea) along the path - the last hotel in the bay (you can get there by catamaran).

6. Service at the hotel is beyond praise.

If you are not a nasty beech, then you will be groomed and cherished there (without making any special difference between Germans and Russians). The next day after checking in, they asked if everything was fine with us. The day before departure, they warned about it and made a small present. On the day of departure, although we checked out of the room at 12.00, no one removed the “bracelets” from us - therefore, we used the restaurant at dinner (unlike Continental), and cards for towels were handed over to the reception just before departure. Cleaning in the room is perfect, every day a new "bird" of towels (and without any "tip"). There are no queues to the restaurant. The waiters are always polite and smiling, clear the table quickly. Drinks are served on the beach and by the pool. If someone had a birthday during the rest, then in the evening they congratulated him in the restaurant (a team of animators, cooks and waiters gathered - they sang songs to the beat of a drum and gave a cake with candles).
A "shuttle" goes to Hurghada, 2 times a day for 2 hours (shopping), costs $ 8 round trip.

7. The contingent of the hotel is 70% Germans, 5% British, the rest Russians. There are many pensioners, many families with children, but there are also people aged 20-35. Most of the Russians in the big hotels in Madinat: Iberotel Makadi Beach 5* and Iberotel Makadi Saraya Resort 5*.

8. Water park - a miracle of Madinat. A huge water park (not free for all Makadi hotels), with a bunch of slides for children and adults, slides of different difficulty levels. The water in the pools is warm. I am glad that safety measures are observed (watches, chains, T-shirts are prohibited), restrictions on weight, age, from adult slides you can only ride on cheesecakes or rugs. You will always be prompted how to sit and group correctly. But …. bruises happen, especially often on a slide with a whirlpool at the end (if you go "backward" into the pipe after the whirlpool). You can have a snack there in the Aquapark. Buses run from the hotel to the Aquapark every 15 minutes.
I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.
