Our 11th holiday in Egypt after Sharm el-Sheikh, we finally decided to spend it in the mainland, in the Makadibey area. We chose the hotel "Stella Di Mare Gardens Resort & Spa 5 *". In terms of price-quality ratio for us, it turned out to be the best hotel. And the people who work there make it so and make the rest comfortable and unforgettable.
Few details.
The three of us rested: my husband and I and a friend from February 26 to March 4.2020. We contacted management on the hotel website and asked for rooms next to each other, with one bed, closer to the sea. All our wishes were taken into account, for which a special thank you to the hostelation Marina. This is a man in his place, solves all problems, answers all questions. Marina, you are amazing!!!
1. We arrived at about 9 am, we were asked to wait a bit, at about 10-00 we put on bracelets and said that we could attend a brunch. After breakfast, we settled in rooms 2957 and 2958, this is near the wave pool. The rooms were half way between the sea and the reception. Rooms after renovation, with a huge bed, plasma 40 inches, new plumbing. Cleaning was every day, towels were changed, 2 half-liter bottles of water were left every day. All electrical appliances worked properly. Hot water all day from 7am, toiletries replenished regularly. There is a bidet, toilet, shower, bath. The room has a tea and coffee set, replenished daily with coffee, cream, sugar and tea.
2. Food is very varied. Beef, chicken, fish in different variations, 3-4 types each. A couple of times there were crabs, and in a themed sea dinner, three types of squid, tiger prawns, all kinds of fish. Pleased with fruit abundance: oranges, pomegranate seeds, guava, apples, dates, tangerines, bananas, strawberries. There is a separate area for desserts, everything is very tasty and varied. From alcoholic drinks - local beer, all kinds of alcoholic drinks, white, rose and red wine. Bartenders are not greedy - how many times you come up, they pour so much. The beer at the beach bar is served in normal sized plastic cups, so we didn't even need the half liter plastic cups we used to take with us, as other hotels on the beach served beer in 100g cups. Since we are lovers of beer with a snack, we took it from home.
3. Territory - large, beautiful, green, well-groomed. Lots of photo zones.
4. The beach is huge, you can find a free place at any time of the day. The pontoon is long, it is not very comfortable to go with the wind, somewhere in the middle there is a shallow lagoon with comfortable steps for entering the sea. The reef is not to say that it is gorgeous, but it is there, and if you sail away from the pontoon, it is very much alive!! ! I managed to see a couple of octopuses, a new type of lionfish with blue feathers, some incomprehensible living conglomerations that look like beads, jellyfish with a purple frame.
5. Shopping. Here is an ambush! There are retail outlets on site, but to buy fruit, we went to a shopping center near Hurghada. Taxi is expensive, we ordered Uber, it cost 11 dollars round trip per car. It was possible to order a sightseeing tour to Hurghada with a visit to the shopping center from a representative of Coral Travel for $ 6 per person, but we found out about this late.
6. You can write a separate review about the excursion to Luxor from the hotel guide company Tui, and it will not be positive at all. We can say that we specially came to this area of Egypt at this time of the year to visit Luxor. We monitored the Internet, found an excursion for $ 54 with a visit to the Valley of the Kings. When the hotel guide offered us a VIP option with a visit to the banana island, the valley of queens and kings for $ 65, we decided not to risk it and order it. As a result, for this cost we received 2 temples, colossi, an oil factory and an alabaster factory. Of course, we were outraged and asked for compensation, received back 8 dollars per person, although the price for a regular tour was announced as 45 dollars.
7. There is Internet, but we did not use it, because we bought a local card without a number with 16 GB of Internet for $ 10 at the airport.
We almost had the perfect holiday. A few small flaws that you can ignore, but still I will write about them. It was not very pleasant to get shabby, washed-out beach towels by the warm pool, when there were whole mountains of brand new fluffy towels nearby. I was surprised by the cleaner in the room, who for some reason removed only started tubes of shampoo and shower gel. And I would also like specifics about what infrastructure can be used at the Stella Beach Hotel. As we understood, it was possible to use everything except the main restaurant. As a result, it turned out that you can’t relax near the warm pool, and for our hotel there is a separate “liquid” on the beach.
8. The animation is quite active: stretching, yoga, water aerobics, boccia, volleyball, dancing. In the evening live music and all kinds of entertainment events.
9. A la carte restaurants. We had 2 free visits in 7 nights stay. The Lebanese restaurant was disappointing, although many positive reviews were read about it. But we were not lucky, the order was waiting for a very long time. Ordered 3 different hot grilled dishes. They were brought cold, although on a mini-grill. The dessert, called rice casserole, turned out to be some kind of incomprehensible rice porridge. But the Chinese restaurant is pure delight!! ! Gorgeous surroundings, attentive waiters, fast service. Dishes are gastronomic ecstasy!! ! We have never tried such gorgeous beef in BBQ sauce, the chicken in sweet and sour sauce is delicious! Unusual dessert - ice cream with fried apple. We definitely recommend.
