Our 11th holiday in Egypt was also wonderful, like most previous holidays in this country. Rested with my husband in the 2nd half of April 2015. First time in this hotel, third time in Marsa Alam.
Choosing a hotel: the decisive factor was the presence of a good house reef and a low price. Under these 2 conditions, "AURORA BAY MARSA ALAM 5 *" fell. However, the reviews were very mixed, and often opposite. We decided to go. We determined for ourselves that the hotel will be very modest and we will not expect anything supernatural from the rest.
Transfer: Flight Kyiv - Hurghada 4 hours, transfer to the hotel from the airport on a small bus took 3.5 hours.
Check-in: We arrived at the hotel after lunch, at the reception immediately put on bracelets and provided a room on the 1st floor.
Number: as other tourists have already written, the hotel rooms are very original: 2 small bedrooms with bathrooms, and between them 1 common living room with kitchen, bar, chairs, table, and a shared terrace. The terrace overlooks the lawn and the pool. Very suitable for family or company. They write that there is very, very poor soundproofing between the 2 bedrooms. Thanks to the hotel, no one was accommodated in the 2nd bedroom during the entire stay.
Our bedroom was small, it had 1 bed, a safe, an empty minibar, a wardrobe, bedside tables. There are no bathrobes, slippers, a kettle and an iron. 1.5 liters of water are brought daily. The bathroom is small, equipped normally, there is a hairdryer-vacuum cleaner. Soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided. You can live. The cleaner worked conscientiously, cleaned cleanly, twisted figurines out of towels, and decorated them with flowers. Never forced or interfered. We saw him only 2 times. In general, well done!
Hotel and territory: the hotel is very small (190 rooms), but homely. There is some charm in such small hotels. I would like to separately note the design of the hotel: it is very unusual and, in my opinion, a little crazy. The main colors of the hotel: sand, rich terracotta and bright blue. You gradually get used to it. The lobby is also very unusual: all the chairs, sofas and tables seem to have been taken from different sets, but this does not spoil the overall picture, they still fit together. There are interesting portraits on the walls. There is a black piano. We were surprised by the presence of a corner where the tables are covered with green cloth for playing cards and the presence of 2 very original chandeliers.
The territory is very green, blooming and well-groomed. The gardeners work hard. A lot of weaves of various colors and aromas. Lots of palm trees and cacti. Greens are regularly watered.
There are several pools, one is heated, a pool bar with a very friendly bartender Muhamed. They serve delicious ice cream by the pool. Enough sun loungers by the pools.
Nutrition: reviews on nutrition are very controversial, some write that everything is fine, but someone has nothing to eat. I will express my opinion: the choice of dishes is not large, but everything is edible and tasty. I've tried just about everything, even sliced salads. The food is fresh, there were no health problems. The choice of fruits is not large (very pleased with the ripe and juicy melon), the sweets are a bit dry, but I don’t like sweets. Meat (beef and lamb) is not much, it is because of this that the hotel is given low ratings for food. However, there is always chicken, fish, liver, etc. , there were quail and turkey. The main meat dish is given 1 piece per hand, but you can go to the chef and ask for as many times as you like. I have not come across such a delivery of dishes before, but I realized that there is a reasonable grain in this. A hungry person immediately tries to get a full plate, and when he cannot eat everything, the meat is sent to the trash can.
Breakfasts are standard: eggs of all kinds, yoghurts, cheeses, cold cuts, vegetables, fruits, sweets. For lunch and dinner, 2 types of soup, vegetables, side dishes, salads, meat, liver, fish, chicken, pizza, pasta in unlimited quantities, vegetables, fruits and desserts. Every evening they cook something on the grill. I was pleased with the coffee machine with several types of hardware coffee and cocoa, as well as a selection of teas. There are "snacks" at the pool bar and on the beach. In general, thanks to the chefs, especially chef Saed, who cooks very tasty pasta!
Bars: 1 in the lobby, 1 by the pools and 1 on the beach. The all-inclusive system operates from 10-00 to 23-00. Large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks: rum, vodka, tequila, brandy, not bad bottled beer, powdered juices, fanta, sprite, cola. The bartenders make decent cocktails, but only those that are on the cocktail menu. I would like to note that this hotel has the friendliest and friendliest bartenders of all the hotels where we have been. Animation Entertainment: there are 2 animation teams: Italian and international. We talked with an international team: they hold gymnastics, dances, arrange sports games and evening shows. The beach is large, there are enough sunbeds, it can be a little dirty, the sunbeds are old, but the towels are clean. There is a toilet and shower. On the beach there is a tent with a hookah, a shop with paintings and a shop with decorations. There is a volleyball court and a bocha court. The beach bar is open until 18:00. The range is more meager than in the lobby bar.
Sea: The hotel is located in one of the most windless bays called Marsa Gabel el Rosas. The shape of the bay resembles a very elongated horseshoe from the road to the open sea. The length of the bay is about 600-700 meters. The corals are multi-level, if the tide is high, it is very convenient to swim over the coral cover. We found 2 turtles and a bracken (sorry, we saw a bracken in the middle of the bay, and in the afternoon the water is very muddy, good visibility over the coral cover). Both reefs are not very bright compared to others we have seen, but the corals are very interesting. Living creatures are present, but there are not many small colorful ones. Many stingrays, I was surprised by the number of arotrons, incl. and very large, swallows and boxfish. There are packs of surgeons, rhinos and blue-spiked rhinos. There are angels, zebrosomes, lion fish, butterflies, huge flutes, jacks, plataxes, amphiprions, abudefduffs, mackerel and others, we saw 2 large titanium triggerfish at once. Almost a tame heron walks aground.

1. We went on foot to Braika Bay (2.5 kilometers to the north). The bay is shorter, wider and a bit more colorful than Marsa Gabel el Rosas. These bays are similar in terms of fish. In Braika, they saw a really gigantic gray moray eel. She was lying under a stone, a huge head sticking out. Impressed! We have seen many moray eels before, but for the first time such a huge one.
2. We went to the nearby bay of Mars Needle (to the south 4.5 kilometers). We were not lucky with the weather, it was very stormy, but we managed to swim with the turtle. The bay is very beautiful, they say there are several turtles in it, and sometimes a dugong swims up. But when you are carried by the current to the coral, it is not up to the contemplation of beauty. If possible, we will return in calmer weather.
General impression of the hotel: if you are looking for a luxury hotel with a huge territory, designer rooms, a marble lobby and an abundance of meat dishes, then this hotel is definitely not suitable. The territory is not large, the rooms are small, the living room is adjacent, there is no bathroom, only a shower. You can see traces of cosmetic repairs on the facades of the buildings. There are no bathrobes, slippers, iron, kettle in the rooms. There are no expensive imported artists and musicians.
