Just returned from a holiday at the Jaz Grand Marsa (Marsa El Alam). Rested from 9 to 16 April. 2 adults and 2 children. Rest were VERY satisfied, despite the rather windy weather. This is the only thing with which we were not particularly lucky, but this moment was compensated by everything else. So, about everything in turn.
Arrival at the hotel
We arrived at 9 am, were already at the hotel at 9.30, the room was given literally immediately, we did not have to wait for the official check-in at 14-00, and the bracelets were issued at 11-00. While the documents were being processed, they brought us wet terry towels to wipe our hands and cold juice. We were given electronic keys and we were taken to the room with our luggage in an electric car.
Number
Single room, but very spacious. Two large enough single beds and a double bed. Lots of extra furniture, armchairs, a table, chairs, a coffee table, bedside tables… In general, there was more than enough space for things. There is a safe in the closet, using it is free. The bathroom is also spacious with a bathtub. Large enough balcony with a table and 2 chairs overlooking the sea. It is noticeable that the repair is not the first freshness, but we did not see any obvious shortcomings. The mattresses are comfortable, nothing creaks, plumbing is clean, serviceable. There are small rugs near the beds, I liked this solution. The room had 2 beach bags with Jaz Hotel Group logo. And a big thank you to Mustafa: our room was always clean!!!
Territory
The Jaz Grand Marsa is part of the Jaz chain. It is located in the desert, to the city, if I am not mistaken, 65 km. But the territory is very large and there are 9 hotels on it, most of which also belong to the Jaz network (Lamaya, Solaya, Maraya, Coraya, etc. ). And we could walk everywhere, so there was no feeling of closed space, we wound 14-16 km a day. As for me, in terms of territory, the Jaz Grand Marsa is the largest and is located a little apart (all other hotels, with the exception of Coraya, smoothly transition to each other). The hotel was closed for a year due to the pandemic. Yes, the grass is not ideal everywhere, in remote places there is not as much vegetation as we would like, but this, probably, should not be considered a disadvantage. Moreover, work is being actively carried out on the territory: something is being annoyed, cleaned up. In the evenings, the territory is beautifully illuminated, fountains work.
Pools
In the central part of the hotel there are 3 swimming pools: 145 cm, 110 cm (heated) and children's (49 cm). All are quite large in area, even for children. There is a bar nearby, part of it goes to the land, and part directly into the 145-cm pool. Beach towels - in the room, here they are changed upon request. There is also a large pool in another part of the hotel, but so far it is not populated, but visually the pool is clean. I liked its design - like a beach.
Bars and restaurants
Yes, you can write here for a very long time. . . Let's start with the main restaurant. It is very spacious, there is enough space for everyone. The feature of the hotel is that drinks are brought by waiters or bartenders, you don’t have to go yourself. Our table was served by Emad, thank you very much, as soon as we arrived, our drinks were already on the table. Napkins - white, fabric. Food is a classic. In the morning they fry omelets, eggs, pancakes, a large selection of cheeses, sausages, sausages, yogurts, olives, vegetables, fruits (bananas, melon, watermelon, grapefruit and much more), various pastries both on puff and yeast dough. Lunch was already with soups, meat, fish dishes, a lot of desserts. The largest selection of dishes was already in the evening. fish, meat, crabs were fried on the grill... The choice of desserts for dinner is even greater (as we were told, they have a cool pastry chef... and it was noticeable). Plus for dinner there was always strawberries and several types of ice cream.
The main bar is located in the same building as the restaurant and reception. And here they prepare the best cocktails in Egypt, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic! (Ahmed, we miss your cocktails). The quality of alcohol is classic, I liked the wine. By the way, drinks, as in the main restaurant, are carried by bartenders here. You will sit in the lobby, they will come up to you, ask if you want something to drink, and bring it.
Restaurant on the beach. Here you can take ice cream (at any time), pastries, and from 11 to 16 you can order pizza, burgers, sandwiches, pasta (there is a menu). And the service here is top notch (waiter Ahmed).
Once again I want to note the level of service to all food places: very polite, professional, with a touch of humor. Guys, it was really nice talking to you!! ! By the way, when we arrived, few people spoke Russian/Ukrainian at the hotel, but after a week of our stay, “please”, “bon appetit”, etc. were already heard everywhere... The hotel was reoriented to our tourist.
Receptionist
These are probably the most strict and serious guys in the entire hotel. But, perhaps, the position obliges. He evicted us at 12. They called the room and reminded us that it was already 12-00 and we had to leave it, although we had to leave the hotel at 16-00. At our request, the Guest Relation of the hotel Arina (a very nice, friendly Russian-speaking girl) tried to extend our stay in the room, but she did not succeed. And everything sounded somehow very extraordinary: it’s impossible because not all rooms are prepared for receiving tourists (by the way, if someone would check into our room, it would not be earlier than 6 pm, upon arrival of the plane). But if we paid 25 euros, then the room would be extended to us. This moment somewhat spoiled the overall impression, but I understand that rules are rules...
Sea
Very beautiful, with a small pontoon and a fairly deep, picturesque reef with a variety of fish. But, due to the weather, we saw the reef only 1 time, the rest of the time there was a red flag. You can’t swim much from the shore, except to wander, and then, very carefully, there are hedgehogs. But you can admire this beauty indefinitely. The kids on the beach were looking for crabs, there are a lot of them. We were even told that they saw dolphins swimming by, but we did not manage to see them. We went swimming every day in the bay (10 minutes to go). There is sand, at first fine, which the kids like, and then a reef with fish. That's where we spent most of our time.
Entertainment
The main entertainment for us is the water park. This is not an ordinary hotel water park with a couple of slides, but a full-fledged, huge water park where you can disappear all day. And until April 30, it was free for everyone who lived at the Jaz Hotel Group.
As for the animation at the hotel: it was, and during the day, by the pool, and in the evening. And live singing, and a virtuoso violinist, and a bunch of different competitions. But we are not fans of such entertainment. In the evenings we went for a walk around the hotel grounds.
We went on a sea excursion, saw a sea cow and a huge turtle, a lot of fish.
