We flew, with my husband, on last-minute trips, from Donetsk, for a week for $ 675 for two. We were praised by the resort of Marsa Alam with the uniqueness of sea carals. I’ll write right away that the sea is the same as in Sharm! We did not have high hopes for the hotel, for us the sea and the beach were in the first place. We arrived in Hurghada at seven in the evening, immediately at the airport we were in for a nuisance in the form of a torn off handle from a suitcase. Where it was damaged, in Donetsk or in Hurghada, we will never know. The tour operator Pegasus met us, took us to the bus, where we were informed that it would take 4 hours to get to the hotel (instead of the promised 2), we were especially unsettled, as we were in anticipation of the upcoming vacation, we were only worried about whether we would have time for dinner. We arrived at the hotel at 22.50 at the reception, we were met by a Russian-speaking girl, quickly issued forms and warned that if we hurry, we will still have time to have dinner. Naturally, we had time, I was pleasantly surprised that even at 11 pm we were able to have a decent dinner.
We were given room 1032 on the first floor, not far from the reception (at no extra charge), there is a safe in the room (free of charge) and central air conditioning, which hums loudly, but we did not turn it on, it was not hot, a small refrigerator, a TV in a curved screen, 2 Russian channel, no bath, shower. There is no exhaust hood in the toilet, there is a small window above the toilet bowl, it is always open, no one looks through it, there is a mosquito net. The condition of the room is average, the furniture is not new, it would not hurt to repair. On the veranda there is plastic furniture, 2 chairs and a table. Towels were always clean and dry, cleaned regularly, replenished with drinking water, although we did not use it.
The territory of the hotel is small, but green, well-groomed and blooming, on the lawns there is thick green grass in which the foot is buried, it is very pleasant to walk barefoot. The paths are broken in some places, but we did not loop on this. The area is well lit. There is a fantan and mini herons roam the territory.

Two small pools, not heated, depth 60-145cm. there is a small children's room. At one of the pools, a bar is open from 10 am to 6 pm, from 13.30 to 14.00 ice cream (from 2 to 5 types, every day in a different way) from drinks tea, coffee, beer, vodka, rum, brandy, fanta , cola, sprite (not powder, from bottles). There are not many sunbeds by the pools, but we had enough. Near the billiard table (fee) and tennis (free). Near the pools toilet and shower, which is very convenient.
The beach is big for such a small hotel, there are a lot of places, sunbeds are in good condition. But the pier, to our deepest chagrin, was broken (which, of course, no one warned us about) since March 15, when there was a big storm, they certainly began to repair it, but at such a slow pace that when we left a week later, only 4 part of welding work. so when the repair will be completed is unknown, according to my calculations by the end of the summer.
The reef in the sea is good, interesting and varied, but due to the lack of a pantone, entering the sea is very difficult, since there is a constant wind in Egypt, and Marsa Alam is an open sea, the waves at the reef are always very large, and it is dangerous for those who swim poorly . I saw a lot of people who, trying to get out, were thrown by the waves on the guards and came out with scratched stomachs and knees. I am an excellent swimmer, and I always entered carefully, near the pier, holding on to its supports. So I personally didn’t have any injuries, apart from a minor scratch on my arm. But despite all these difficulties, vacationers still swim, there are free zones between the beach and the reef, about 1-1.20 cm deep. There are also a lot of different fish that swim up very close, as they are fed by tourists. There are moray eels, stingray, octopus, and many other fish, many sea urchins (very large) and starfish. I also saw 2 big crabs. There were no jellyfish at all. Behind the reef there are many large fish from 0.5-1.2 cm. When the water recedes, it is interesting to walk along the reef, approaching almost to the very edge and look through the waves into the depths of the sea.
Above the beach there is a bar, everything is the same as by the pool, in between lunch and dinner, you can have a bite of buns, cheese, french fries, fish balls.

Restaurant one. Not too big, but there were always enough places, both inside and on the veranda. Breakfast started at 7.00 with the traditional scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs, prepared according to your wishes with or without vegetables. There is a choice of varieties of 10 buns, jam, honey, syrups. Pancakes are also fried. I liked the hot croissants the most, they just melted in my mouth. There were potatoes, fish and meat (mostly chicken in the morning). There were few salads, we preferred simple cuts, cucumbers, tomatos, peppers. There is always ketchup, mustard, milk sauces on the dressing table. I was pleased with the cheese, but the sausage, as always, is inedible. There are few fruits and they are cut into pieces in large salad bowls. They gave melon (very tasty, orange, grapefruit, apples, occasionally peach, and another fruit whose name I forgot, dates). The restaurant always had tanks with tea and coffee, hot milk, which made me very happy (because when we rested in a 5 * hotel, there was tea only in the morning). Alcohol is served from 10 am to 12 midnight.
For lunch there is always meat, in large quantities and very well cooked, I especially liked the beef goulash. Special thanks to the chefs!
Pasta, rice and potatoes daily, there are plenty to choose from. There was also a variety of soups. Each time is different, there was no such thing that they ate at lunch, then that they were undernourished in the morning.
A lot of sweet pastries, but in my opinion not very successful, well, I'm already finding fault.
Entertainment. Here is a complete bummer, there is no animation as such, three people who do not want to do anything. The show was dancing 2 times a week (weakly). There is a disco, and it seems not bad, we were there only once. In the evenings they played cards and backgammon. Friends smoke hookah.
There are several shops in the main building. There is a super market outside the hotel, but everything is very expensive there, we only bought aromatic oil. For comparison, a souvenir fridge magnet is $15.
Nearby is the RESTA 5 * hotel (one owner), we were allowed to walk around their territory, swim in their pool (it is large and half heated), but we were not served at the bar. It has newer modern rooms, great restaurant. But the territory, though green, but not blooming. The open area is very windy. The hotel is still being built, additional buildings and a swimming pool are being built. But there was no construction noise. There are no shows. There is no pier. so we didn’t really envy them. In general, for the money that we paid, we had a good rest.
We did not go on excursions, it is very expensive, because it is very far away! Why waste time and spoil the experience.
