We were in Egypt for the first time, we chose Marsa Alam for several reasons:
1. Location - further south than other well-known Egyptian resorts, and in January this is important.
2. Not such a popular resort, and therefore the hotel staff is not spoiled.
3. Availability of a direct flight from Moscow.
This is a hotel for a relaxing holiday, animation, at least at this time of the year, is not here. If you want a disco - then you should go to the nearby Lamayu hotel (it's very close). There are many of ours resting. With all the not-so-good consequences. . .
Here are the main positives:
1. Service, service - very even. They hardly speak Russian (the main contingent of vacationers are Germans, Italians), but they try, they don’t ignore our brother, I didn’t notice a difference in service with foreigners. Rooms are cleaned every day, linen change too.
2. Beach - located on the leeward side, this is a bay, the entrance to the sea is not from the pier. Convenient with small children, tk. the entrance to the sea is gradual, the bottom is sandy. The sea in January here is 20-22 degrees. If you are lucky with the weather, then in a week you will have time to tan and swim. Of the pools, the smallest (90 cm) is heated very well.
3. Food - tasty, varied.
4. Guide Mostrevel - Husem. Everything will tell and prompt, always at the workplace.
5. The territory is green, well-groomed, pleasing to the eye.
The rooms - for 5+ stars - in my opinion, are rather weak in interior, the floor is tiled, although the room has everything declared, the mini-bar is replenished daily (and free of charge for those who have the "pharaoh" system, and at the same time upon arrival in the room a bottle of local wine and fruit will be waiting for you - a trifle, but nice : )). There is Russian TV (one program).
Now the main bad part:
If by the time of your vacation the hotel located near Coraya, where the desalination plant or another unit hums loudly, does not finish building, then you will have a hard time, especially if the wind is in your direction. In this case, you need to ask for a room on the leeward side (we were lucky, we were immediately settled in a quiet room). But this rumble (the degree of its strength depends again on the direction of the wind) will haunt you both on the beach and throughout the territory. Although I can not say that it spoiled our holiday : )
