"Thanks" to covid, we only achieved a long-awaited vacation on the third attempt (planes did not fly in May, our hotel did not open in August, and now September - hello Egypt !!! ).
We chose Citadel based on the reviews on Turpravda, although the last of them were not very happy, and we did not regret it a bit.
They flew from Tuya (Azur Air) from Boryspil. The flight was delayed a little (20 min. ) - not critical, around seven in the evening we were at the hotel, immediately put on bracelets and sent for dinner.
Before leaving, I wrote a letter to the hotel to give a room with one large bed (since I read in other reviews that often a married couple is settled in rooms with separate beds). After dinner, we got what we asked for, without any nerves and surcharges!

We settled in the second building, we were quite satisfied! Restaurants, swimming pools, reception, sea - all at a distance of 2-3 minutes. from the room (the only thing you need to walk to the royal lagoon is 5 minutes). I do not recommend this building only to those who have small children and those who like to go to bed early, because in the evening you can hear the music that plays on the promenade, but everything stops at 23.00, so this was not a problem for us.
The room was not new, but they did not find any special flaws that would interfere with rest. But the morning sound of the surf and the sea view from the bed are guaranteed!
The hotel itself is located on the outskirts of the city and it is not possible to go for a walk into the city, only a taxi, but the huge territory compensates for this shortcoming (and in Hurghada itself in the era of covid there is nothing much to do, there are practically no people, many shops are closed). They went to Senzo and Cleopatra for gifts. The hotel seems to have a monopoly on taxis, they wanted to order an Uber for $ 3, the guide said that they would not be allowed into the territory, only to the barrier and go to it for another kilometer. I had to take a taxi from the hotel for $5.
As for the animation, I’ll immediately say it’s not there, in any case, during the holidays we never saw it.
For food!! ! We were ready that it would be a little budgetary (this is probably now the problem of most hotels in Egypt due to quarantine). But you won't leave hungry (there was also meat - chicken, duck, turkey, beef, veal, and seafood - fish, squid, and mussels with shrimp came across). Not enough fruit, of course.
The sea is not standard for Hurghada, the beach is huge, but there are not many entries into the sea, for those who do not swim well or need a smooth entry, there are two lagoons to the left of the hotel and two artificial ones in the center. But lovers of the reef and fish will have something to see when sailing into the sea !!!
Check-out is standard at 12, but the bracelets are not cut off and before departure, you can fully use the hotel's infrastructure.
Another minus, as for me, is that the occupancy of the hotel was 90 percent of our people (Slavs), that sometimes there was a feeling that you were not in Egypt, but somewhere in Zatoka! Although this, of course, is not surprising, looking at the price tag that tour operators to Egypt are now putting up!

As a result, despite the minor shortcomings, the rest was EXCELLENT!! ! And we had only pleasant impressions, which we wanted to get!! !
