We rested at the Citadel Azur Resort as a family (two adults and a child 1 year and 7 months). The hotel was chosen for a long time, because. there were many requirements: not very far from the airport, the presence of a smooth sandy entry into the sea, a room on the first line, a large beautiful territory, the availability of high chairs in restaurants, good service). We were guided by the reviews of people who visited the hotel, and by photographs.
I must say right away that the hotel met all our expectations and we were very pleased with the rest.
After we paid for the tour and received confirmation, I wrote a letter to the hotel asking them to provide us with a room at the beginning of the 5th building (we had previously studied the detailed map of the hotel and the location of the buildings) with a double bed and a baby cot. The hotel told me that they would try to fulfill my request. When we arrived at the hotel, an envelope with the keys to room 5002 was ready for us at the reception, everything was already ready in the room, as I asked: a crib, all bath accessories, and bathrobes with slippers.

The room itself was of the standard category, it is quite spacious, the furniture is in good condition, all the appliances worked properly. And the view from our room was simply amazing - right from the terrace there was access to a small pool (where almost no one swam), and then through the entire window from floor to ceiling you could see the sea with sailing boats, from which our daughter was completely delighted.
The territory of the hotel is quite large, but I will not say that it is huge. Everything is designed in the same style of the old fortress, very beautiful. There is not much greenery, there is not a single green lawn, but they are not needed, in general there are enough palm trees, there are flower beds with flowering bushes and trees, and everything as a whole looks very harmonious. A bus runs constantly around the territory (for the lazy), but we never used it, because. from our 5th building to the main restaurant, we traveled with a stroller in 5 minutes maximum. It is very convenient to move around the territory with a stroller, despite the many steps, because. everywhere there are ramps and smooth descents, you just need to go a little further. There are also elevators in the buildings.
The food at the hotel is very good, but we have been to Egypt many times at different resorts, and I cannot say that the food at the Citadel Azur Resort is super 5 *. We are not gourmets and have never been hungry, although there were two days during our vacation when it was very poor at dinner. Breakfasts are standard, as everywhere (several types of eggs, vegetables, fruits, breakfast cereals, pastries, yogurts, cheese and sausage cuts, coffee, tea, etc. ), we went for lunch 2 times (pizza, french fries, chicken, sweets ), dinner every day in some national style. Alcohol is only locally produced, good white wine, you can drink gin (especially if with tonic), strong drinks are not very good, tequila is like water in general. On the beach in the Royal Lagoon, where we rested all the time, there was a very cool bartender Imad - he made good cocktails, did not skimp on drinks and was generally a cool sociable guy, tourists loved him very much))
In addition to the main restaurant, there are four a la carte restaurants, three of which are included in the All system. You can visit them at least every day, but by appointment. We were in all three - Brazilian, fish and Italian, Italian liked the most.

There is also a coffee shop "Mozart", where delicious coffee and cakes, but the choice is small, but in general a great alternative to lunch. There is an ice cream parlour, where they offer both free ice cream and for a fee. We took free - delicious.
It is convenient that the hotel has a market, we bought diapers, slippers, toys for the child and even a light stroller for the child there. All this was brought to us on order from Hurghada the next day in the morning, while we overpaid quite a bit, but there was no need to waste time and look for all this in crazy Hurghada.
We once got to Hurghada by bus that runs from the hotel, both sides took us for $ 14.
Service in the hotel in general is very good, the staff is polite.
The beach strip of the Citadel Azur Resort hotel stretches for 1.5 km, but almost everywhere along the coast there is a coral reef and you can enter the sea only in slippers. The only sandy entrance to the sea in the Royal Lagoon, there are mostly people with children and there sunbeds need to be occupied at 7 in the morning, but this did not bother us, because. we went before breakfast to swim with the child.
The coral reef is very beautiful, a lot of different fish, huge "houses" and "trees" of corals at the bottom of the sea. There are two large lagoons with sea water, but we didn’t swim there, just as we didn’t swim in the pools (except that there was one near our terrace) - we are simply not lovers.
Animation in the hotel, if any, it is very unobtrusive. In the evenings live music, mini disco, disco for adults, some performances. There is a hookah on the waterfront.
The hotel also has its own port, which is very convenient if you go on a sea excursion or diving.
I will say that we will return to this hotel again and again!
