My husband and I were in "sonest" August 8 - 19.2008. If you are going to Egypt for the first time, then you might even enjoy it. Guys show up at the airport demanding $1 for every bag or suitcase you put in the trunk of the bus. Don't get fooled. Even if they insist, it is completely optional and there is nothing to give.
The sea is just wonderful. Good entrance, sandy beach, corals, fish. The restaurant - delicious food, large rooms. Especially if you give immediately, like us, 20 dollars, then with a sea view.
We were in Egypt for the eighth time. We went to Taba to be closer to Jordan. We wanted a relaxing holiday, just the sea, the sun and Jordan (we already went to Israel last year from Sharm). We knew that beyond the territory of the hotel - just a desert, but we were quite happy with it, because, you know, we were almost everywhere. We got a very nice spacious room overlooking the pool and the sea, everything started well. Well, until the same evening we realized that we were not alone in the room - cockroaches easily and naturally live with us. Then it turned out that not only with us. At the reception, the guys smiled about this, but, in general, they smile for any reason, this is their job.

Room cleaning. Poor quality. And all the time I had to call the reception and say that there were no towels, then toilet paper, or something else. They smile even on the phone and do nothing. Before scandal. It is a pity that I arranged it not on the first, but on the fifth day. After that, the room was better cleaned.
Food in a restaurant. Delicious but not very different. NO FRUIT! It even happened that there were no fresh vegetables for 4 days. Of course, it doesn't matter to someone, but when you go to 5 stars, you want something for about 5. Guys, this hotel should not even be given a four! By the way, cockroaches also live in the restaurant.
Beach. Good. But if you want to sunbathe under an umbrella, then you need to take a place in the evening, otherwise you will have to under the scorching sun.
There is 1 bar to the beach and the pool, where you need to stand in line for 10-15 minutes, and the bartender will also tell you that there are only 2 glasses in your hands. Nearby, on the contrary, there is a place for another bar, but it does not work. In general, the territory is rather big, funds are invested. But a long time ago. And nothing gets completed. Saves on everything. On food, on umbrellas, on linen, it is probably from the opening day, on sunbeds, on towels, on staff, on the quality of service, etc. It seems that this is a solid anthill, where there is not enough space or the opportunity to relax for everyone who came.
Tours. Very expensive. For example, in Sharm and Hurghada diving with two dives is $55, and here it is $150. Israel is $210, and in Sharm it is $250 by bus and $210(! ) by plane. And so with all excursions. Jordan - $ 220, but, surprisingly, the tour does not include a visit to the Jordan River. Petra, of course, is simply incomparable.
In general, in our opinion, there is nothing to do in Taba. I even felt sorry for those who were in Egypt for the first time. Taba is not Egypt, not its flavor. In short, not an indicator.
