Last year we visited Egypt for the first time, and immediately ended up in Hilton Taba (consciously chose Taba, because we wanted peace, not parties). Everything in the hotel was at the highest level and we decided that this is the case everywhere in Egypt. This time, due to the influx of vacationers, I had to take what was available, and at that time only Sonesta and Morgana Azur were there. Morgana was categorically not advised to us in the agency, and the reviews of those who had a rest in it were not encouraging. They honestly said about Sonest that if they had a choice, they would not advise, but there was no choice : )
In general, if we had a desire to complain about fate, there would be reasons. But we had a desire to have a good rest, therefore, having grieved for the first half of the day, from the next morning we tuned in a positive mood and the rest was a 100% success.
On the first day, the aggravation of sadness from the contemplation of the basically joyless Egyptian desert and lifeless unfinished buildings on the shore on the way to the hotel was facilitated by a woman from Ufa, who was waiting for a transfer to the airport in the lobby, who, while filling out the forms for moving in, managed to tell everyone who came how much she sympathizes with us because we came here - they say, Taba is disgusting, where only those who are deceived by travel agencies or who want to go to Israel or Jordan go, and for breakfast there are only eggs, and there are a lot of people, and we won’t see anything in Israel in a day, and so on . Of course, there were more than a dozen dishes at breakfast, almost half of the rooms in the hotel were empty, however, during our stay several large groups stopped by, and the impressions of a day's stay in Israel were comparable in brightness to a week's stay in Egypt. As they say, the taste and color are different felt-tip pens, but it's a pity for the aunt - so suffer for 10 days, with only eggs.

In general, about Sonest:
the hotel is not new, so the furniture and interior in the lobby are already a little "tired". A room with a good view is provided at no extra charge. There are rooms with one large bed, there are with two separate ones - several couples with different surnames were given separate ones.
Eating at the Palmira restaurant in the main building - there are more than 10 people in queues for popular dishes, the air conditioner does not cope well with the number of people, the waiters do not cope at all, so you need to go for drinks on your own and also stand in line. In general, it strongly resembles a catering canteen. But if you are not too lazy and go to a restaurant near the upper pool - coolness, free tables, no more than 2-3 people in line for food, waiters bring ordered drinks quickly and without money - the atmosphere of a good restaurant is provided.
The central pool (it is smaller, with water polo gates) at first glance struck me not so much with a large number of people around and in it, but with aunts on air mattresses famously dissecting in the water area : )
You have to stand for drinks in an open bar near this pool - once they counted a particularly impressive queue, there were 17 people, and in the end you get a warm beer - you don’t have time to cool down. Again, if you are not too lazy and go to the upper pool - half of the sunbeds are free, in the air-conditioned bar nearby (there is also a toilet inside) the maximum queue is 2 people, cold beer and ice in a bucket on the bar - please!
In the rooms, towel patterns, unfortunately, no one twisted - perhaps it was worth asking and paying, but somehow we didn’t really want to. But we were able to put things in the closet only after we caught the bellhop and urged him to wipe off the layer of dust on the shelves, accompanying the request with a baksheesh of 1 dollar (probably a pound would be enough, but by that time we had not yet changed the money).

By the way, about the exchange. There is no exchange office at Taba airport, they did not specify an ATM, but it seems that there is none either. The hotel has a bank branch, opening hours are declared twice a day for 2 hours, but for 7 days at this time it was never (! ) It was possible to find it working, although employees were often there. There is no ATM in the hotel either, the nearest one is 15 km away in Nuweiba, where I had to take a taxi ($20 round-trip - the guide called, a call at the hotel desk - $30).
But the biggest disappointment for us after the Hilton was the size of the territory and the beach - well, very small, and the amount of green space is poor : (.
Air temperature from April 18 to 25 was ~38-40, water - ~26-28.
Summarizing the impressions - I really want to return to Taba again, go to Jordan, but next time we'd better wait to get to the Hilton or Hyatt (they took vacationers from there to the airport - it's green there and there is an ATM : ). They say it's still good in the Intercontinental and Holiday (4 *), you can also try there.
And Sonesta - all the best, for the first stay in Egypt, or even abroad - she is also not bad.
