We chose the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel, me and my wife Natasha, after reading a huge number of reviews in English, according to the responses, it was one of the best hotels in Mexico. Having not found a single review of the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel in Russian, they trusted the taste of the Americans.
We decided that if we are going to the other end of the Earth, then we should not save on comfort. And in the same hotel they paid for one of the best rooms according to the CLUB system. I will say right away that during our stay in Mexico, we changed four hotels, three of them were located in the resort area of the Riviera Maya. Usually my wife and I prefer a quiet beach holiday with comfort and mandatory visits to the most popular excursions.
BUT!! ! This time it didn't work out exactly as we planned. During our life together (8 years), my wife and I visited 7 countries, some several times. They also vacationed in Cuba. And never once did we have any problems with claims against us because of our behavior. Therefore, we were very surprised and disappointed by the attitude towards us at the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel by the hotel's chief concierge, Rosalia Maca.
who, in sloppy English, accusing us of something we didn't do, insistently suggested that my wife and I leave their hotel, threatening to call the local police. We asked them to contact the host through which the hotel was paid, or wait for a working day to come in Russia (time difference 9 hours) so that we could inform our tour operator about what was happening, but we received one callous and rude answer - impossible! We were told that they would help us get to another hotel, which we would choose, but we needed to pack up in 20 minutes, otherwise the police would be called. If all this happened in Russia, we would insist on inviting the police, as we felt slandered, deceived and robbed.
But at this moment, events unfolded in a hotel located in the jungle, we felt completely defenseless against the rude actions of savages in the person of the management of the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel, in particular the chief concierge Rosalia Maca. Such an inhuman attitude is incomprehensible. This is not normal and the hotel management should be punished for such actions, and the hotel itself should be carefully checked for compliance with the level of service in it (here I want to make this request to the competent services of Mexico), and the main thing here is the attitude towards customers, whether this level corresponds to the assigned the number of stars. In this abnormal situation, we decided not to allow the conflict to escalate and to prevent the use of violence against us, having no experience in dealing with the Mexican police, we decided not to wait until this callous manager, ROBOT IN A SKIRT, calls her friend policeman.
Most likely, all the fuss began due to the fact that someone from the room next to us saw how I fell along with an American acquaintance, Tyler Durden, slipping on wet tiles near the bar, which was located next to the pool. Maybe he (the complainant) was somehow frightened and he decided to complain to the concierge and insist on our eviction, maybe they listened to him, because he was one of the influential American bigwigs. But this is all just speculation. In fact, everything was as it was.
Young people, Americans, were already finishing their vacation at the hotel when my wife and I had just arrived at this hotel. They were often near the club bar where we met. We talked, joked, drank cocktails. At one point, one of them put his hand on my shoulder, I also jokingly hugged him, but he, having made an awkward movement, slipped and falling, dragged me along with him.
At this, all the rest of our company just laughed, and I planted a bump. Half an hour later, my wife called me to the room to prepare for dinner, saying goodbye to the guys, I left. The next morning they flew home. On the same morning, my wife and I drank coffee and sat for some time on the grass near the room, by the way, at that moment we met a bar employee who served us yesterday, when we were sitting with the guys, she greeted us very friendly. After that we went for a walk along the beach towards Puerto Morales, the beach was very beautiful. Having reached the village, taking a few photos on the go, in a small market, which is a few shops with souvenirs, jewelry, sombreros, we bought two straw hats, drank a milkshake and went back. We went to our room and got ready to go to dinner. But they didn't give us food. A group of two girls and a guy came to our room.
The guy, as I later guessed, was from the security service, and the whole company was headed by Rosalia Maca. At first they asked us if everything was fine with us, after which they said that we urgently needed to leave the room. To the question of his wife: “Why? ". We were told that I offended one of the hotel employees yesterday. Drawing a hold in the air that reminded me a lot of hugs when we fell together with that American, Tyler. I swear I'm not in the habit of being rude to the opposite sex, I've never done that, molested or beat women. My friends will always confirm this. Such an accusation, it seemed to me, to put it mildly, strange. I was completely calm, and was sure that, since it was unfounded, in a minute it would all resolve itself. But Rosalia Maca, only aggravated the situation and the expression on her faces, but took on an increasingly aggressive and arrogant look.
When I tried to explain to her and their entire “rapid” response team that I did nothing of the kind and asked to invite that “humiliated” employee, they answered me with a sharp refusal and said that she (the employee) was afraid of me. When we realized, by their red eyes, that they were no longer joking, we asked Rosalia Maca to contact our host, by phone, which we wrote. They left, and my wife and I, having exchanged puzzled looks, simultaneously came to the conclusion that this situation cannot be resolved by persuasion. I was extremely uncomfortable in front of Natasha and I did not know how to react to such a vile accusation.
Natasha, who stood with her breasts in my defense, was completely confident in my innocence for three reasons: I had not been seen in such actions before (we have been together for 9 years), secondly, in the hotel we were always next to each other and they did not part for a minute and thirdly, she simply did not see the logic in the words and actions of Rosalia Maca. Natasha suggested that I go and see if someone could confirm the words of Rosalia Maca. I asked her to do it herself, I had no idea how I would go up to anyone and ask: “You didn’t see yesterday, I didn’t torture anyone here ? ! ". Natasha went to our barmaid and turned to her with this idiotic question: “Didn’t you see, yesterday my husband didn’t do anything like that here? ". The barmaid immediately said that she had “never seen anything like it”, everything was fine.
I must say that the bar is located in the middle of the Club territory, and from there you can see everything that is happening around, even how many glasses of cocktails are filled with vacationers. But the barmaid, nevertheless, offered to address this issue to another employee who is nearby in a small gazebo and gives out towels. When the wife, together with the bartender, approached the employee who dispensed the towels, she immediately declared without unnecessary emotions, “yes, he, that is, I, roughly grabbed her! And now she's afraid of me. To which the bartender, making round eyes, asked “really? ! “, they say, “really? ! ". A stunned Natasha came to me, I was in the room at that time, it took no more than five minutes for her blitz survey. Having told me everything verbatim, she offered to try to go and apologize to the “victim”.
I then had a great desire to see the object of my aggressive behavior or maybe the cause of the sexual outburst and the same source of such serious problems. I decided to go, especially since the place for issuing towels was nearby, next to the club. As I walked, I tried to strain all my convolutions, and even look into the subconscious, but I never managed to imagine what “my victim” looks like, because the wife always took the towels. I strained my memory even more in order to remember, at least the very moment of committing rude actions, day or night, at least something. But the memory playback process did not turn on. I couldn't remember what wasn't there! It was a little scary, because there is another kind of process for extracting material from memory - this is recognition.
I already thought, what if my head really got baked and I lost my mind and memory a little, and like a werewolf who woke up from his adventures, I don’t remember anything, but now, when I see “my victim”, I recognize her! Brrrr...But that didn't happen. I approached the booth with towels as smoothly as possible, without sudden movements, so as not to scare “my former victim” again, while she saw me already from afar. When I approached her at a distance of 2 meters. She did not even react, but went about her business, probably forgot "her torturer. " And only when I spoke to her, she drew attention to me. I did not wish her a good day, now it seems to me that in vain, it was necessary to talk with her about the weather, she would most likely keep up the conversation.
Of course she didn't recognize me, because everything she said to my wife was made up and forced on her, her boss Rosalia Masa, in order to have a more or less good reason to demand that we vacate the room. Well, all right, they agreed how to run into me, but where does my wife come from, why did she have to vacate the room with me, is she my suitcase and not a Man? Only after I asked the “victim”, “Is it true that I was rough with her yesterday? ”, only then she lowered her eyes and said, “ YES, THIS IS TRUE. I was stunned by such impudence, and did not find anything smarter to say, except for “Forgive me, but I don’t remember this! ". She, seeing that I am not a villain, not a maniac, and will not rush at her with fists for her lies, abruptly changed her tone, declaring "I can't forgive you, I'm afraid of you. " “Sorry, ” I repeated, and again I heard “No. ”
At that moment, I realized that it was pointless to continue the conversation and I wanted to turn around and leave, but I remembered the problems threatening my wife and I, about Natasha, who so dreamed of going to Mexico, and now her dream takes on the appearance of ugliness, due to some lying monkeys. Pulling myself together, I again turned to this sexless and insensible creature, growing up to my chest, with braces on his teeth, pleading: “I don’t remember what you are talking about. Maybe I was drunk? And if this is true, then forgive me! I won't harm you anymore. If you need money, I'll give you whatever you want. You won't see me around here at all. Promise. Just call your superiors now and say that you have forgiven me! A grimace of compassion appeared on her face, she picked up the phone, dialed some numbers, was silent and took the phone away from her ear. Probably no one came. I thought that I was forgiven and, walking back, repeated: “Excuse me, call, ok! ? ".
When I turned away from her, full of hope that she would call and everything would be resolved, Natasha appeared in front of me, who saw the whole scene. In my opinion, she, too, was satisfied with my apology, although she was in deep thought. Before we had time to sit on the sofa in the room, there was a knock on the door, of course we opened it, on the threshold was the same hated trinity headed by Masaka (macaque! ). Going into the corridor, they said that "they did not call anyone on the phone of our meeting party, which we gave them and that we must leave the room within 20 minutes (!!! ), otherwise they will call the police. " We were shocked! Natasha said that I had just asked for forgiveness from their employee, and she was no longer afraid of me. To this we were told that they knew that I apologized, but they could not do anything. We need to get out of the room and then they will help us move to any other nearby hotel. If not, they call the police. Like this.
And what would you do? They waited for the police, and I read and saw films showing Mexican police officers, more like bloodthirsty bandits and their prisons full of evil bugs, or nevertheless, how to quickly close this issue and move to another hotel, rely on the help of these people, who, it seemed to us, were fulfilling someone's whim, although now I understand that this does not justify them, they are simply not people and behaved like soulless savages. Another thing Natasha asked them for: “You can wait until tomorrow, we will contact our tour operator when it is daytime in Russia and he will help us choose another hotel. ” To which she received a categorical refusal. "We'll give you 20 minutes. " “Are you human or not? ”- this is the last thing Natasha asked them and they left, and after thinking for a minute, we began to collect things ...Even if we were to blame for something (fell at the bar), there is a Russian saying: “In the first fault, God forgives ". We didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
Of course, we were terribly upset, but we consoled ourselves with one thing, “Whatever happens is only for the better. ” Moreover, the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel itself, the rooms in it, the attitude and service do not correspond to its value. In the hotel in Cuba "Paradisus Varadero" (Cuba, Paradisus Varadero 5 *), in which we were two years earlier, we liked the attitude and service much more, while this pleasure was cheaper. We packed our things and in the hotel lobby approached the employees sitting there with a request to use the Internet in order for us to move to another hotel.
We very quickly chose the El Dorado Royale hotel. We liked this hotel back in Russia, but then we were embarrassed by the boulders in the sea to break the waves. But now there was no time to look for another hotel. We risked ending up in the jungle or in the police station. Moreover, this Rosalia MASA promised us to arrange a move to another hotel.
We believed her, thinking that she was aware that our money, calculated to pay for the hotel, remained with her. MASA said that she had resolved all the issues with the administration of El Dorado Royale and they would check us in today without any problems, and later the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel would transfer everything to the hotel that we had chosen. To be honest, we were reassured by her promises, which we believed in, as we decided that it would not be difficult for the chief concierge to negotiate with a neighboring hotel, especially since we knew that the cost of living in El Dorado Royale was slightly lower than the cost we paid for accommodation at the Club Hotel Excellence Riviera Cancun. We got into a taxi and in 15 minutes we were in El Dorado. Out of courtesy, we asked the taxi driver if we owed him something, and when he asked for $50, we were surprised again, because MASA promised to pay for the taxi. We still gave the money, once again convinced of her meanness. Further more.
Approaching the El Dorado Royale reception desk, we told the meeting person that we should have agreed with him when they called from Excellence Riviera Cancun, to which we were told that they know that we should come, but no one what he didn't say. Imagine this bitch Rosalia Masa, and here she deceived us. We asked the greeter to call her (she then gave her phone number). The person meeting us dialed the number, but from the expression on his face we realized that he had been sent. And what were we to do? The outlook was bleak. The cash that we had was not calculated to pay for the hotel, we did not have a bank card, the meeting party (our tour operator) ignored our “SOS”. There was a choice, either to the jungle with suitcases, or to pay $ 414 in cash for one night, in the hope that something would be decided during these 12 hours. We chose the second option.
We were quickly given the key to the room, the attendant escorted us to the room, and two minutes later our luggage was delivered to us.
El Dorado Royale is a chic hotel, they say that it is included in the TOP 10 best hotels in the world according to FORBES magazine, a large room with a jacuzzi, gourmet cuisine. We went to dinner in different restaurants, in one of the restaurants they make foie gras, many bars, large territory, very good entertainment program in the evenings. The average age of vacationers is 25-45 years. Unlike Excellence, where mostly old farts hang out. There is nothing for young people to do. El Dorado Royale has very friendly and helpful staff. Of all the hotels, we liked it the most, thank God there is something to compare. And we would be ready to stay in it until the end of the holiday, if everything was as promised to us by that monkey, you know who I mean, about Rosalia Maca. But, of course, she was not going to keep her promise. Natasha and I, nevertheless, tried to get the maximum benefit from the situation in which we found ourselves, and for a while forgetting what had happened to us before, we relaxed and enjoyed El Dorado Royale.
I recommend to everyone without hesitation before choosing where to go to the Excellence Riviera Cancun or the El Dorado Royale hotel, choose El Dorado. You will truly receive royal comfort and service. In the meantime, our tour operator (Versa) got involved in resolving our issue, but they couldn’t agree on the amount of compensation with Excellence, but I didn’t understand it for us or for the hotel. We paid for one more night and enjoyed our stay at El Dorado Royale. During the day we rested by the pool, with breaks for meals, the kitchen at the hotel was really exclusive, in the evening we went to a disco with excellent live music and even danced, the musicians played so incendiary and professionally.
In the morning, the tour operator told us new input. We had to move to another hotel as the El Dorado Royale was too expensive and negotiations with Excellence for compensation were pending.
Looking ahead, I’ll say that we were fully refunded the difference in the cost of the hotels in which we lived, but only in St. Petersburg. And if in this wretched hotel Excellence Riviera Cancun, together with its wretched chief concierge Rosalia Maca, they would think more quickly and more about people, and it’s not clear what, and return our money on time, which in the end they did, but much later , then we would be able to calmly continue our holiday in El Dorado Royale, and not pack our bags again. We had to choose one of the four hotels offered to us, but we had very little time to compare them on the Internet. We immediately canceled two hotels, and of the remaining two, we asked the tour operator to recommend the best one to us. They booked a room for us at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe 5 * hotel, a junior suite. This hotel was located in the heart of the Riviera Maya. Taxi transfer time from El Dorado Royale was about 30 minutes.
Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe 5 * is a beautiful hotel located on a beautiful beach next to 3 more hotels that are part of the common Barcelo Maya hotel zone.
Large reception, with a lobby bar, all restaurants and shops are in the same building. More than this, we liked the Japanese restaurant, very tasty sushi. The hotel is aimed at visitors from different countries and different nationalities, it often hosts weddings. They are decorated very beautifully, tables are laid on the beach, and beautiful lighting is arranged in the evening. Huge but comfortable room, larger than any of the previous ones. An interesting detail, in the hotels in Excellence Riviera Cancun and El Dorado Royale, in order to turn on the equipment (for example, charging for the phone), a special adapter was required for sockets with flat holes, which I purchased back in St. Petersburg. Here, all the sockets were of the European standard, this indicates that the hotel is focused on Europe, the same can be said about the cuisine, it is varied, but European dishes prevail, a huge amount of seafood was also served, here I had meat days on Thursdays .
From entertainment in the hotel there is a large disco where a bus leaves every 20 minutes and collects people from all Barcelo Maya hotels. How cool it is I can only guess, since I have never been there. But in the central building of our Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe hotel, there was a large concert hall with a bar, in which there were different performances every evening. To imagine the size of the hall, it can be compared with ½ of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, who was in St. Petersburg. Equipped with chairs and tables. Perfectly equipped with musical and lighting equipment, I have never seen anything like this in any of the hotels. The beach is clean, more than a kilometer long. There is a territory for parents with children, for children there are generally all conditions. But we spent most of our time at the pool, which was located in the immediate vicinity of our room. The pool is very beautiful, with a section in which there is a hydromassage. There's a bar there.
And at the entrance to the pool there is a sign: "Under 18 years old. " This does not mean that toplis are resting there, although it is not forbidden to do this anywhere in Mexico, it’s just so that youngsters do not interfere with your vacation. The spa is right there. Everything is done for complete relaxation.
We have booked tours from this hotel. What can I recommend, I'll tell you about it. The first excursion to the Isle of Women on a yacht that leaves from Cancun, everything is fine. A yacht (catamaran) for forty people, cocktails, music, they try to entertain you with the help of prepared jokes, but smoking is prohibited on the yacht. The whole trip there and back is about 6 hours. There are shops on the island itself, but the prices are not real (the magnet is $ 5), but still they bought all sorts of nonsense. On the way back we stopped at a hotel on the island, had a bite to eat, then stayed to snort, but of course, this is not the Red Sea for you. We also made a stop to go sailing.
This entertainment is as follows: At the bow of the catamaran there is a staysail sail, it is unhooked and the lower rigging is immersed in water. You sit on it with the fifth point as on a swing and a sailor, easing the rope allows the sail to gain wind, due to which it rises, and you dangle under it. I am heavy 95 kg, and the wind force was not enough to lift me high, but we saw how a girl of fifty kilograms chatted in this way, she was lifted very high and twisted like on an attraction. I have never tried or even seen this before. Recommend. We returned to the room for dinner, it takes a lot of time to move to Cancun and back, collecting and transporting all the participants of the tour. The pleasure costs $140 from the nose, in Cuba $80, in Egypt $25, feel the difference.
Before leaving, we read a lot about Shkaret Park, and decided to definitely go there.
But they didn’t book an excursion from the hotel, but went by taxi themselves for $ 25 transfer for two, taxi drivers in the resort area have a common price, and they drive up within 5 minutes on a call. We went to 15 o'clock, bought a ticket for $ 60 per person. We walked around the park, took pictures of the animals, swam, and by 18 o'clock went to the evening show. I will not write about Shkaret in detail, you can read a lot on the Internet. I can only say that I liked it, but there is nothing to do there all day, so go by three o'clock and you will have time to do everything and not get tired.
The last "excursion", if you can call it that, was in Playa del Carmen to the Coco Bango Show Disco. This is of course more of a show than a disco, but some people try to have fun there. I won’t tell much, I’ll say that it was done very cool, with excellent special effects. The most popular music of all times and peoples is played, and at this time, on the stage or in the hall, the artists portray those performers whose music is being played.

From Cancun, before returning home, we were scheduled to visit Mexico City. I dare to say, who was not in Mexico City, did not see Mexico. Large diverse city. We booked a room at the Best Western Majestic Hotel, which is located in the central square of the city in the Zó calo, in the heart of Mexico City. The area is called "Constitution Square". Opposite the hotel is the Presidential Palace, on the left is the Cathedral. There is nothing to describe here, although I managed to walk around the area, it is better to see everything with my own eyes. The hotel is very old but clean and tidy.
You can have breakfast on the roof of the hotel with a view of the Cathedral and the sound of its bells. In addition, they visited the Basilica in Mexico City, saw a shroud depicting the Virgin Mary. A lot of unusual things, you can see if you look closely and think. We also ordered an individual sightseeing tour of the city with a trip to Teotihuacan (50 km). We climbed the Pyramid of the Sun. It's worth doing it once in a lifetime. Beautiful and interesting. On the way back we stopped for lunch at a roadside restaurant, where, to the musical accompaniment of Bessame Mucho, performed by two Mexicans, we ordered worms and ostrich meat with potatoes, and all this with tequila against the backdrop of the pyramid of the Sun. The musical performance is average, the worms are complete bullshit, the ostrich is very tasty, and the tequila had to be paid very steeply.
She just shrugged and promised not to go to this restaurant again. By the way, in general, we really liked the individual tour and the story of our guide-interpreter about Mexico City. Even there, in the evening near the Cathedral, Mayan descendants organize Indian dances, smoking incense in chorus to the beat of tom-tams, without ceasing to repeat very complex dance movements, enter into ecstasy. You can look at it all differently, but it's better to treat it as a local color, although they do it seriously. At night, all shops and the entrance to our hotel, located in the center of Mexico City, are closed with bars. On the street every 10 meters there are submachine gunners. But on the last night after drinking, I tequila, Natasha, champagne, we broke into a local bar, where we sat until the morning.
The next day we went to a local wine and vodka, bought Don Julio tequila, Mescal (with a worm), a few souvenir bottles for friends, for one we asked where you can buy coffee. They drew a diagram for us, according to which, after a couple of streets, we found a shop where coffee is sold by weight. Natasha stocked up on real Brazilian coffee for a whole year, which was not at all expensive. In the evening the transfer arrived on time and in 30 minutes we were at the Airport. Allowed baggage weight is 23 kg. we didn’t exceed per person, but it was difficult, because we wanted to take more tequila and coffee with us, maybe more souvenirs, and you can’t take liquid in your hand luggage because of the transfer at the airport. Such an inhuman attitude is incomprehensible. This is not normal and the hotel management should be punished for such actions, and the hotel itself should be carefully checked for compliance with the level of service in it (here I want to make this request to the competent services of Mexico), and the main thing here is the attitude towards customers, whether this level corresponds to the assigned the number of stars. In my opinion, she, too, was satisfied with my apology, although she was in deep thought. Before we had time to sit on the sofa in the room, there was a knock on the door, of course we opened it, on the threshold was the same hated trinity headed by Masaka (macaque! ). Going into the corridor, they said that "they did not call anyone on the phone of our meeting party, which we gave them and that we must leave the room within 20 minutes (!!! ), otherwise they will call the police. " We were shocked! Natasha said that I had just asked for forgiveness from their employee, and she was no longer afraid of me. To this we were told that they knew that I apologized, but they could not do anything. We need to get out of the room and then they will help us move to any other nearby hotel. "We'll give you 20 minutes. " “Are you human or not? ”- this is the last thing Natasha asked them and they left, and after thinking for a minute, we began to collect things ...Even if we were to blame for something (fell at the bar), there is a Russian saying: “In the first fault, God forgives ". We didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
Of course, we were terribly upset, but we consoled ourselves with one thing, “Whatever happens is only for the better. ” Moreover, the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel itself, the rooms in it, the attitude and service do not correspond to its value. In the hotel in Cuba "Paradisus Varadero" (Cuba, Paradisus Varadero 5 *), in which we were two years earlier, we liked the attitude and service much more, while this pleasure was cheaper. We packed our things and in the hotel lobby approached the employees sitting there with a request to use the Internet in order for us to move to another hotel.
We very quickly chose the El Dorado Royale hotel. We liked this hotel back in Russia, but then we were embarrassed by the boulders in the sea to break the waves. But now there was no time to look for another hotel. We risked ending up in the jungle or in the police station. Moreover, this Rosalia MASA promised us to arrange a move to another hotel.
We believed her, thinking that she was aware that our money, calculated to pay for the hotel, remained with her. MASA said that she had resolved all the issues with the administration of El Dorado Royale and they would check us in today without any problems, and later the Excellence Riviera Cancun hotel would transfer everything to the hotel that we had chosen. To be honest, we were reassured by her promises, which we believed in, as we decided that it would not be difficult for the chief concierge to negotiate with a neighboring hotel, especially since we knew that the cost of living in El Dorado Royale was slightly lower than the cost we paid for accommodation at the Club Hotel Excellence Riviera Cancun. We got into a taxi and in 15 minutes we were in El Dorado. Out of courtesy, we asked the taxi driver if we owed him something, and when he asked for $50, we were surprised again, because MASA promised to pay for the taxi. We were quickly given the key to the room, the attendant escorted us to the room, and two minutes later our luggage was delivered to us.
El Dorado Royale is a chic hotel, they say that it is included in the TOP 10 best hotels in the world according to FORBES magazine, a large room with a jacuzzi, gourmet cuisine. We went to dinner in different restaurants, in one of the restaurants they make foie gras, many bars, large territory, very good entertainment program in the evenings. The average age of vacationers is 25-45 years. Unlike Excellence, where mostly old farts hang out. There is nothing for young people to do. El Dorado Royale has very friendly and helpful staff. Of all the hotels, we liked it the most, thank God there is something to compare. And we would be ready to stay in it until the end of the holiday, if everything was as promised to us by that monkey, you know who I mean, about Rosalia Maca. But, of course, she was not going to keep her promise. Natasha and I, nevertheless, tried to get the maximum benefit from the situation in which we found ourselves, and for a while forgetting what had happened to us before, we relaxed and enjoyed El Dorado Royale.
I recommend to everyone without hesitation before choosing where to go to the Excellence Riviera Cancun or the El Dorado Royale hotel, choose El Dorado. You will truly receive royal comfort and service. In the meantime, our tour operator (Versa) got involved in resolving our issue, but they couldn’t agree on the amount of compensation with Excellence, but I didn’t understand it for us or for the hotel. We paid for one more night and enjoyed our stay at El Dorado Royale. During the day we rested by the pool, with breaks for meals, the kitchen at the hotel was really exclusive, in the evening we went to a disco with excellent live music and even danced, the musicians played so incendiary and professionally.
In the morning, the tour operator told us new input. We had to move to another hotel as the El Dorado Royale was too expensive and negotiations with Excellence for compensation were pending.
Looking ahead, I’ll say that we were fully refunded the difference in the cost of the hotels in which we lived, but only in St. Petersburg. And if in this wretched hotel Excellence Riviera Cancun, together with its wretched chief concierge Rosalia Maca, they would think more quickly and more about people, and it’s not clear what, and return our money on time, which in the end they did, but much later , then we would be able to calmly continue our holiday in El Dorado Royale, and not pack our bags again. We had to choose one of the four hotels offered to us, but we had very little time to compare them on the Internet. We immediately canceled two hotels, and of the remaining two, we asked the tour operator to recommend the best one to us. They booked a room for us at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe 5 * hotel, a junior suite. This hotel was located in the heart of the Riviera Maya. Taxi transfer time from El Dorado Royale was about 30 minutes.
Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe 5 * is a beautiful hotel located on a beautiful beach next to 3 more hotels that are part of the common Barcelo Maya hotel zone.
Large reception, with a lobby bar, all restaurants and shops are in the same building. More than this, we liked the Japanese restaurant, very tasty sushi. The hotel is aimed at visitors from different countries and different nationalities, it often hosts weddings. They are decorated very beautifully, tables are laid on the beach, and beautiful lighting is arranged in the evening. Huge but comfortable room, larger than any of the previous ones. An interesting detail, in the hotels in Excellence Riviera Cancun and El Dorado Royale, in order to turn on the equipment (for example, charging for the phone), a special adapter was required for sockets with flat holes, which I purchased back in St. Petersburg. Here, all the sockets were of the European standard, this indicates that the hotel is focused on Europe, the same can be said about the cuisine, it is varied, but European dishes prevail, a huge amount of seafood was also served, here I had meat days on Thursdays .
From entertainment in the hotel there is a large disco where a bus leaves every 20 minutes and collects people from all Barcelo Maya hotels. How cool it is I can only guess, since I have never been there. But in the central building of our Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe hotel, there was a large concert hall with a bar, in which there were different performances every evening. To imagine the size of the hall, it can be compared with ½ of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, who was in St. Petersburg. Equipped with chairs and tables. Perfectly equipped with musical and lighting equipment, I have never seen anything like this in any of the hotels. The beach is clean, more than a kilometer long. There is a territory for parents with children, for children there are generally all conditions. But we spent most of our time at the pool, which was located in the immediate vicinity of our room. The pool is very beautiful, with a section in which there is a hydromassage. There's a bar there.
And at the entrance to the pool there is a sign: "Under 18 years old. " This does not mean that toplis are resting there, although it is not forbidden to do this anywhere in Mexico, it’s just so that youngsters do not interfere with your vacation. We have booked tours from this hotel. What can I recommend, I'll tell you about it. The first excursion to the Isle of Women on a yacht that leaves from Cancun, everything is fine. A yacht (catamaran) for forty people, cocktails, music, they try to entertain you with the help of prepared jokes, but smoking is prohibited on the yacht. The whole trip there and back is about 6 hours. There are shops on the island itself, but the prices are not real (the magnet is $ 5), but still they bought all sorts of nonsense. On the way back we stopped at a hotel on the island, had a bite to eat, then stayed to snort, but of course, this is not the Red Sea for you. We also made a stop to go sailing.

We booked a room at the Best Western Majestic Hotel, which is located in the central square of the city in the Zó calo, in the heart of Mexico City. The area is called "Constitution Square". Opposite the hotel is the Presidential Palace, on the left is the Cathedral. There is nothing to describe here, although I managed to walk around the area, it is better to see everything with my own eyes. The hotel is very old but clean and tidy.
You can have breakfast on the roof of the hotel with a view of the Cathedral and the sound of its bells. In addition, they visited the Basilica in Mexico City, saw a shroud depicting the Virgin Mary. A lot of unusual things, you can see if you look closely and think. We also ordered an individual sightseeing tour of the city with a trip to Teotihuacan (50 km). We climbed the Pyramid of the Sun. It's worth doing it once in a lifetime. Beautiful and interesting. On the way back we stopped for lunch at a roadside restaurant, where, to the musical accompaniment of Bessame Mucho, performed by two Mexicans, we ordered worms and ostrich meat with potatoes, and all this with tequila against the backdrop of the pyramid of the Sun. The musical performance is average, the worms are complete bullshit, the ostrich is very tasty, and the tequila had to be paid very steeply.
She just shrugged and promised not to go to this restaurant again. By the way, in general, we really liked the individual tour and the story of our guide-interpreter about Mexico City. Even there, in the evening near the Cathedral, Mayan descendants organize Indian dances, smoking incense in chorus to the beat of tom-tams, without ceasing to repeat very complex dance movements, enter into ecstasy. You can look at it all differently, but it's better to treat it as a local color, although they do it seriously. At night, all shops and the entrance to our hotel, located in the center of Mexico City, are closed with bars. On the street every 10 meters there are submachine gunners. But on the last night after drinking, I tequila, Natasha, champagne, we broke into a local bar, where we sat until the morning.
The next day we went to a local wine and vodka, bought Don Julio tequila, Mescal (with a worm), a few souvenir bottles for friends, for one we asked where you can buy coffee. They drew a diagram for us, according to which, after a couple of streets, we found a shop where coffee is sold by weight. Natasha stocked up on real Brazilian coffee for a whole year, which was not at all expensive. In the evening the transfer arrived on time and in 30 minutes we were at the Airport. Allowed baggage weight is 23 kg. we didn’t exceed per person, but it was difficult, because we wanted to take more tequila and coffee with us, maybe more souvenirs, and you can’t take liquid in your hand luggage because of the transfer at the airport.
