When we descended into Stresa in steep serpentines under a fine but lingering rain, beautiful views of the lake still opened up to our eyes. Then I said to myself: when we leave, we will definitely stop somewhere and shoot the city and the lake from these angles. But we left Stresa early in the morning in the pouring rain. We couldn't stop and take pictures too.

Our path lies to Arenzano. The terrain is mostly flat, nothing special. On the paid autobahn, the speed limit is up to 130 km/h. It’s a pity, however, the road is not busy, we could have gone faster, but they didn’t really violate it, even though our navigator warned if there were security cameras, but there was also the traffic police, I didn’t want to run into it at all.

So, we go down to the sea, to Arenzano and further to Menton along the SS1. When we got out of the car on the embankment in Arenzano, the bright sun was shining, a strong smell of the sea and, for some reason, salted fish was immediately felt.

Well, finally, the sea, the sun vacation! And so slowly, admiring the coastal landscapes and streets, houses, vegetation in the towns that we passed, we drove towards Nice. We stopped in one place, I don’t know what it’s called now, there were free parking lots everywhere, so we parked the car without any problems, taking with us a “camping dressing room”, beach cots, we went to the beach. We have nowhere to hurry, but we really want to go to the sea. The water was, of course, coldish, we didn’t swim, but we warmed up in the sun for an hour after rainy Stresa.

It is useless to describe all the wonderful views of this road, you just need to drive along it. In many places there are small extensions along the road, where you can park and go to shoot sea views.

From Menton we drove to La Trinite, as planned, to the large Aishan supermarket.

Yes, the supermarket is really big, but we easily navigated there, because the principle of placing goods is almost the same as in Germany. I found my favorite smoked sausage with walnuts there, the taste is exactly the same as ours, only the inscription on the package is naturally in French. I found a rose wine, but it was somehow a pity to give 60.00 euros for a bottle, especially since we are not very great lovers / connoisseurs of wine.

They really say: the eyes are in charge, the hands are raking. We bought groceries for 10 days and even more at once, and they also took about a third of the purchases with them to Germany.

Our apartments can be viewed here:

I already looked at the entrances to the house on the map in advance, so everything was clear, I didn’t have to look for anything else.

We entered the residence, drove around the house from the back, as the owner Michelle explained to us, found the number of our parking space, parked and wanted to call her that we were already there. But she was ahead of us, already walking towards us. Very wonderful, friendly, hospitable woman. After a while, I think, how we understood each other, because she spoke to us in French, and we in a mixture of English and German, but everything was clear. She showed us the apartment, told us everything, gave a bunch of advertisements for Nice, sights, surroundings ...And she herself lives in an apartment nearby, if there were any questions, she would not have to look for anyone.

So, the apartments, description and photos are completely true. Our main criteria for finding housing were as follows:

1. a certain parking space 2 steps from the house, and not who knows where. Here parking is literally under the balcony.

the distance from the city center and the beach is not important, but so that there is not a long and convenient exit to the autobahns, 10-15 minutes and you are on the highway in any direction.

3. and at the same time, the house should be in a quiet, peaceful place so that you can sleep with an open balcony at night. This is a residential area near the airport, where crowds of tourists do not walk under the windows, so it is very quiet there, and you don’t hear the noise of airplanes at all.

4. And the balcony! This is a huge terrace on the last 5th floor. Although we did not spend much time there, it was nice to sit there in the evening in the silence of the night. The view of the hills is especially beautiful at night, when everything sparkles with lights. Well, as I wanted, a free view, multi-storey buildings a little further and on the sides, directly in front of the balcony, large plots of land with 1-2-storey houses.

5. Not far from the house, 5 minutes at a leisurely pace, bus stop number 8, the stop is called Les Primeveres.

The bus goes fast because there are not many people here at the stops; and goes to A. Embankment, and then along it to the city center.

In a word, the apartment fully met our requirements, we were very pleased with it.

Now, about Nice.

I read a lot of rave reviews, looked at photos ...but it's not that, in fact, reality exceeded all our expectations. The Promenade des Anglais and the bronze dome of the Negresco Hotel, clean beaches and the gentle sea, lively squares, the Old Town and the flower market, the seventeenth-century villa given over to the Matisse Museum, the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, all this and much more simply fascinated us in Nice.

May 22 was a beautiful sunny day almost until the evening. To get to know the city, we took a sightseeing tour by bus, almost at all stops we got out, walked, got on the bus, drove on ...If on a tour.

office take discount coupons, the ticket will cost 20.00 euros.

During the rain, we sat out in a restaurant, and then walked along the embankment for a long time.

To be continued. . .
