We stayed at this hotel from 08.09. 09 to 18.09. 09.

The hotel is located in the village of Istron. From the capital Crete-Heraklion, drive 2 hours. Upon arrival, our guide met us and took us to the bus. We first took all the tourists along the coast and only then went to the Mistral Mare Hotel.
The hotel is built in a rock above the sea, overlooking the bay of Mirabello, a very beautiful bay.

All rooms in the hotel face the sea. There are swimming pools on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the hotel. The entrance to the sea is across the street from the hotel. That is, you need to go down to the highway, cross the road along the underpass and also steeply down the stone stairs - go down to the sea.

The entrance to the sea is sand, the sand is good, fine, the entry into the sea is smooth, long. The sea is beautiful! Azure, like in a fairy tale! By the sea there are sunbeds-paid. 2.5 euros per day, if you take an umbrella, then another 2 euros for an umbrella.

Reception was quick to issue. But! The hotel has been accepting Russian tourists for only the 3rd year, there are no Russian-speaking staff at all!
That is, at the level of primitive English, of course, everything is possible to understand, but it is difficult. We were given a room with a sea view. The room is huge. But in the bathroom there is a shower stall - we came across an old one, it was leaking, after washing there were constantly puddles of water.
Towels are changed every three days. Room cleaning daily.

Attention! In addition to soap, the hotel does not provide any accessories, no shower gels, no shampoos. In a European way, everything is restrained and economical.
The minibar is empty. There is a safe in the room. Rent 20 euros for 10 days, we gave. But I left a lot of things in the room in plain sight - no loss. The room is el. kettle, mugs, you can make tea, coffee. Only everything for this you need to either bring with you or buy in a store in the village.

Food. Minimized in European style. In general, I did not like the food at all! Choice is poor and monotonous. For breakfast: cereal, milk, vegetables, scrambled eggs. Omelet, soy sausages, cheese. Yoghurts. Croissants.
In general, everything is in the range of one type. There is no such variety in baking, for example, as in Turkey-Egypt!
Juices - from the machine, coffee from the coffee machine.

Dinner. Meat, garnish-rice, pasta, various stewed vegetables. But everything is so the same! In the village you go to a tavern - everything seems to be the same, but much tastier and the portions are huge. And in the hotel you put some food, well, everything is empty and insipid. The meat was often over-salted, I don’t know what it is. From fruits, or watermelon or melon or grapes, that is one thing.

Ice cream is freely available - delicious, several types.
Dinner is about the same as for lunch, with variations. But, I repeat, everything is the same. There are no sweets! Different jellies are sweets and dessert rolled into one(((

At first it seemed that the food was acceptable in principle. On the second third day, I just got tired. Because there is no variety. And to be honest, the cooking is tasteless!

Drinking at ALL INCLUSIV beer, local wine, whiskey, gin, cola drinks, sprite, lemonade, water.
Beer-water. Watered down and completely tasteless beer. Whiskey is also diluted.
In general, everything is sad.

Animation in the hotel is not provided any. In the evening they turn on dull Greek music and that's it. People are sitting in the lobby, drinking beer and looking at the bay. The room has a TV. With one Russian channel RTR-Planet.
There are many different taverns and cafes in the village of Istron. Instead of having dinner at the hotel, we sometimes went to eat there. Much tastier and more soulful. And the Greeks there are very friendly.

The nearest more or less settlement is the town of Agios Nikolaos. A bus runs to it directly from the stop in front of the hotel, every hour according to the schedule. The bus pulls up, stops if there are people at the bus stop. It says "HERAKLION" on it, that is, it goes to the city of Heraklion, through Agios Nikolaos. It is enough to check with the driver when landing “Agios Nikolaos? and sit down. You usually pay for the fare when you get on board with the driver. A trip to Agios costs 1.40 euros.
Agios is a 20 minute drive. This is a town with the only sightseeing lake in the city center. All shopping streets with souvenir shops flock to the lake. Around the lake there are taverns, cafes, restaurants. This is the most central and picturesque place.

You can walk through Agios in one evening, look at souvenirs, buy something in a supermarket, and have a delicious meal. There is nothing more to do there.

We usually went there at 5 o'clock in the evening and returned to the hotel by 8 o'clock. Even had time for dinner.

Our guide showed up at the hotel on the second day of check-in. It was obvious that he did not want to go to our hole. Offered sluggish excursions, without much enthusiasm. Since we were Russians, there were only 6 people in the hotel, it was clear that he didn’t want to fool around. He timidly asked if our fur coats were of interest, received a negative answer, and five minutes after the meeting quietly disappeared. All excursions were sent from the city of Agios Nikolaos.
We were offered to get to Agios on our own. He offered to arrange an individual for three couples. sightseeing tour - with a price tag of 700 euros. For two excursions.

We canceled the tour. One day we went on our own to Heraklion. The trip takes 2 hours by regular bus. The bus is comfortable. With air conditioning, soft seats. The fare is 7.5 euros one way. Heraklion is the capital of Crete. The main "wiring" is the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. Located near the bus station. Entrance costs 4 euros. The entire exposition of antiquities is located in a small room, which can be viewed in 5 minutes - and amicably on the way out.

For me, it's not worth 4 euros, pure swindle. Several showcases with artifacts, a couple of statues, frescoes, jugs, shards, and that's all.
By the way, paying 10 euros, in addition to this museum, you can visit the famous Palace of Knossos. That is, this price includes visiting two places.
The palace can be reached from the bus station by bus route number 2. Drive 10 minutes.

We didn't go. It was hot. And we did not want to admire the ruins of the palace.

We walked around Heraklion. Very beautiful city center, church on the central square, sea view. We dined in a tavern. Try the moussaka dish - very satisfying and tasty. Greek salad I advise you to order one for two. The portion is just huge.

Then we walked in the market, where we bought souvenirs, oil, and many other little things.
Lots of beautiful jewelry, silver and gold jewelry, worth buying!
A huge plus of Greek trade is that no one is imposed with their goods. They politely greet, smile, but no one jumps around you and grabs your hands to buy.
We drove along the coast on our way back to the hotel. There is such a place there Khersoness. That's where the movement was. There are different shops, and karting, and horse rental, and a water park, and beach volleyball.
Such a hangout place.

In general, I terribly regretted that we got into this Istron (((

Hotel guests - solid pension! Dear handsome old men and women! In the evenings they drink wine and play cards.

There are no conditions for children! For small children, apart from splashing in the pool (there is a small paddock with a shallow bottom) and in the sea, there is nothing else to do!

Generally this hotel is a family business. The entire staff is the owner of the hotel, his wife and son, work at the reception. They do not speak Russian. Two Greek men and one Russian woman, Irina, work in the bars. They also clean tables after meals.
Everything shows that the owner is greedy and economical. Because its staff is not numerous, it is wound up to the limit with various related duties.

Even though it says on the hotel website. That there is a bottle of wine in the room upon arrival, a bathrobe and slippers, DVDs with films ...None of this is there!
If they knew - they would take a laptop and watch movies - it would not be so sad! By the way, judging by the advertising at the reception, the hotel seems to have Wi-Fi.
And it wouldn’t even hurt to take speakers to your laptop so that in the evening you yourself at least listen to music and arrange a disco!

In the end, we were fooled by Pegasus. We were supposed to fly out at 2:30pm, instead we were notified that we were leaving at 8am. That is, the last day of rest fell completely on the road, as we were taken from the hotel at 3 am. We rode along the coast for 3 hours, collecting tourists from other hotels and arrived at the airport at 6 in the morning ....

Summary: the hotel is not worth the money due to: a) poor location (village! ), b) extremely poor content, c) monotonous food, c) lack of any animation ...
Good only for those who want to sleep off to the sound of the sea, admire the view from the window and sunbathe, swim without intrusive service and special entertainment.
Just bring more books with you...

Hotel rating 2
The holiday was a disappointment. I heard a lot of rave reviews about Greece. But we were not lucky.
The second time I would not go to this country for anything.

The hotel is not worth the money.
