First trip to fabulous Greece
When you first enter a foreign country, everything seems somehow new and unfamiliar. Especially when you do not know the language, but you still need to communicate....Once at school, my girlfriend and I learned Greek, which is probably why, when it came to the country for a vacation, we chose Greece. As they say, we decided to combine business with pleasure: to remember the language and relax at the sea. That's how we ended up on board the plane, which took us through the clouds to our childhood dream - sunny Hellas.
Well, now about the fun... we flew with a very cheerful Greek uncle, who told stories all the way about how cool the Greeks are and that there is no better place in the world than Greece. And most importantly, that literally all Russian, and not only Russian words, originated from the Greek language. So, it was not boring for us to fly, as we expected =)). Then we were met at the airport, put on the bus and sent to our hotel. I will not describe it, because a hotel is a hotel. There can be no complaints, after all, we did not come to sleep in the room, but to have fun and get to know the country. I will say one thing that Halkidiki is a heavenly place. We lived in Sithonia, and I have never seen such picturesque places anywhere. Everything is green, the sea is clean, the beaches are excellent... (this is in a nutshell, but you can talk endlessly about the beauties of this peninsula).
Of course, rest is not only the beach, the sea and the sun, although many people imagine a vacation in Greece this way. We decided to be more conscious tourists and go on a couple of excursions to somehow decorate our stay in this beautiful country. In order not to waste time in vain (after all, there is so little of it), we decided to go immediately on a two-day excursion. After all, as they say, coming to Greece and not seeing Athens is the same as not knowing the country. So we went on an exciting journey through the historical places of Hellas. Well, in front of the capital, we still saw the 8th wonder of the world - Meteora.
Of course, I would like to describe all the emotions that you experience, even just traveling by bus around the country, but this is impossible. Probably worth telling from the moment we got on the bus. Our group was large, but I personally really liked riding the double-decker bus, and my girlfriend wasn't too upset either. To be honest, leaving at 6 am was not easy for us. I wanted to sleep terribly. Probably, this was exactly what all the tourists on the bus were doing until we reached the last hotel, which was picked up by the bus. And finally, everything is assembled and in full readiness for the guide's story. The guide, by the way, we came across no less beautiful than the Meteors themselves. Panaetis is just the bomb. He told me so interestingly and unobtrusively that I was not even tired of his speech after 3 hours of moving. And the Meteors themselves are a fairy tale. We could not even imagine that it would be so beautiful. If you describe in a nutshell, then these will be the words "delight", "miracle". Indeed, while you are driving, you do not understand what awaits you. Of course, everyone looked at the photos before coming here, but I had no idea that it would be so beautiful. Huge rocks with bizarre drawings. Only nature could create this. And these monasteries. . . They say that there is still no clear idea of how exactly 24 monasteries were erected on the tops of sheer cliffs. However, they are. And until today, 6 out of 24 delight the eyes of tourists and local residents. In fact, standing on the observation deck (and this, so you understand, boulders without railings and any other means of safety) is quite scary. But beauty is captivating. It's true. I even dared to go to the edge of the cliff and look into the distance. Indeed, it is worth coming to Greece just to see these natural treasures. We went to 1 monastery. Inside, as it turned out, they are no less beautiful and ancient. Panaetis also showed off his knowledge here and shared important information.
Further, our path lay in the capital of the great Hellas - Athens. The road, of course, is not close, but the capital is the capital. The city that every traveler wants to visit. In the evening we were already there. Yes, Athens at night is impressive!! ! Especially we didn’t walk anywhere, but the feeling is simply indescribable even from the very stay here. You walk along the illuminated streets of the old city, go into some cozy tavern and enjoy Greek hospitality. Its godlike.
The next day was almost entirely devoted to Athens. We looked at the changing of the guard near the Parliament building, visited the legendary Acropolis, walked around the old part of the city one more time and set off on our way back with peace of mind.
Every day of our stay in Greece pleased us. Let it sometimes rain, but these days we went on excursions, so the bad weather did not upset us in any way. But on sunny days we lay on the beach and sunbathed. The sea is just fabulous. I am sure that I will come to this country more than once, because there really is something to see here. And for one vacation in 2 weeks, you definitely won’t see everything.
