Review of the excursion to the Cave of Petralona
We continue our stories about traveling around Greece. We all fell in love with this country and every trip is special for us! Every time we open new places and horizons. This time we again took a car and traveled around Halkidiki on our own, but we went to the Petralona cave with an excursion, since it is better to learn about such places from a guide. The road to the cave takes a little time, it is located not far from Thessaloniki. We drove for about 30 minutes, with our two children, so they did not have time to get bored. We were taken from the village to the cave itself by a cute train, which lifted us up at a Greek pace, allowing us to see the surrounding landscapes. It is very good to hide in the cave itself on a hot day, the temperature there is about 18 degrees, and the halls... these stalactites, stalagmites, small lakes. . . The kids and I began to fantasize as if we were in an underworld where gnomes live, but they hide from people because people stopped believing in them. . And much earlier, back in the time of magicians and unicorns, dragons lived here... We developed the theme of treasures, treasures and composed legends in the silhouettes of bizarre formations : -) At this time, the guide told us the real story of events, which was later retold to us by my husband. . . And indeed, the skull of the Archanthrope was found there, people hid there from dangers, but we also dragged the story of pirates here. In general, the children just squealed with delight. In museums, their husband entertained them, and I listened attentively. Discovered geology as super interesting facts and artifacts. In fact, it’s really a very cool excursion, where you definitely need to go with the kids. And with a guide! Because this is not just a beautiful cave, but it also has an outlandish story! Then we drove to Nea Moudania, where we walked along the promenade and had a delicious lunch. We didn't order delights, we took Greek salad, french fries and veal steaks. Simple, tasty and inexpensive. So feel free to go, but I don’t advise you to go in slippers, in some places it’s a little slippery and take light sweaters for small ones. And the most important bonus is the duration of the tour. . We were picked up at 9:15, and we arrived at 16:30. We still managed to splash in the sea.
