The fairy tale that Greece gives
One has only to get into this country, as you immediately understand that the time for a fairy tale has come. Time stops here, you run away from the bustle of the world and delight the eye with pleasant pictures of the country. Narrow streets where a car can hardly, barely pass, cute white stone houses, pineapple palm trees and countless taverns from which Greek music is heard.
When you start talking, you don’t even know what to write about first. Therefore, I will start from the very beginning. My acquaintance with Greece began with the island of Halkidiki. The peninsula of Halkidiki is located in the northwest of the Aegean Sea and is shaped like a hand with three fingers - the smaller peninsulas of Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos. The coastline of Halkidiki stretches for 550 km, there are more clean beaches awarded the blue Flag of the European Union than in other Greek provinces. And this is true, I won’t say that I was struck by the cleanliness of the beaches themselves, but the Aegean Sea is just a fairy tale. Gentle, quiet, clean and calm, the fish bite so sweetly while standing in the water, as if they greet you and invite you to play with them. The water is warm, salty, so you don't even have to make an effort to stay on the water. I don’t have much depth, but it is here that I am not afraid to sail from the coast, for which I am grateful to the Aegean Sea and the coast of Greece.
We were also lucky with the hotel. Our operator MOUZENIDIS TRAVEL settled us in the hotel "Athena Palace". is a new five-star hotel built on the seafront in the village of Elya, Sithonia peninsula. It is located 95 km from Thessaloniki and 7 km from the busiest and most prestigious resort village of Neas Marmaras. This is another great story. From the very first minutes we became welcome guests here, we got even a better room than we bought on the tour. The beautiful territory-park opens up a lot of routes for quiet walks. Each corner does not repeat, but complements the diversity of the surrounding territory, as if emphasizing all the richness of Greece. The food was very good, it was tasty and satisfying, and you could always have a snack or try something else in one of the taverns on site. Fortunately, the prices did not bite, except that they pinched a bit, like those fish in the Aegean Sea.
Next were the Meteors. And this is another unforgettable story. The drawings from the rocks on the mountain slopes that nature has created are simply amazing, and the person who created all these monasteries on the slopes complements all this beauty. Truly, an amazing place that everyone should see at least once!
And during my trip with my husband, we stopped by to put on Athens. Another fairy tale - a white, warm bed of houses covering the city with the first rays of the sun and the monumental beauty of antiquity in the light of the moon. An amazing architectural symbiosis of time, eras, history. How nice to touch it, even for a moment.
Throughout our trip, we were accompanied by olive trees. The fabulous beauty of the silvery tide, amazing graceful trees complement everything that Greece has. This is our year along the shores of ancient Hellas, a symbol of the warmth and sophistication that you feel in this beautiful country.
Greece has everything, as the hero of Chekhov said, and this is at least one reason to return to this beautiful country. I really want to be here again!
