We rested at the hotel from 08/23/13 to 09/02/13 as a couple.
I must say right away I'm satisfied with the rest.
The hotel is beautiful, located on a mountain in a very picturesque place. We traveled along the northern coast to the west and east, traveled to the south, swam in the famous Mirabello Bay, visited Elounda Bay - after our hotel landscapes, nothing impressed us so much.
The transfer from the airport to the hotel took about 25 minutes. Very convenient.
Settled in 5 minutes. The room, as ordered, with a panoramic view of the sea.
The room itself looks very modest, it's true. There are no gels, shampoos, a set of cotton pads and sticks, a set for sewing, for cleaning shoes, note paper, a pen (pencil) that are usual for the “five”. An ironing board, iron, bathrobes, slippers, “do not disturb”, “please clean” signs are also missing.
In the fridge upon arrival - a bottle of water 0.5l + a bottle of wine. The mini-bar is not refilled after that.

A small plasma TV stands on a bedside table, which also serves as a niche for the same refrigerator. By the way, the refrigerator is quite roomy and cools well, it doesn’t make much noise, and we turned on the TV once in 10 days.
The safe is locked with a regular key, but free of charge.
The room is spartan, the front door, one of the sconces, the doorknob in the bathroom, the tray in the refrigerator looked completely unpresentable, I took a picture of it all, but decided not to post the photo so as not to spoil the overall impression of the hotel, which is generally POSITIVE. Everything functioned absolutely fine, the view from the balcony was simply amazing, they were cleaned superficially, but regularly, for 10 days I saw the maid only on the last day, and so, by the time we arrived from the beach, everything had already been cleaned.
One juicy detail, the toilet in the room is flushed with the sound of a jet turbine, with such a sound the toilet is flushed in an airplane. For the whole rest, they could not get used to it, horror))
Room 410, in addition to the panoramic view, is very conveniently located, I almost didn’t have a chance to walk up the stairs, which scare everyone here.
There are indeed a lot of stairs, but there are all sorts of passages, tunnels, paths that allow you to shorten the path, and in general, it seems to me that getting to the main restaurant, pools, and the beach is about the same from many rooms.
I don’t agree that there is nowhere to walk, the territory is quite large, and along the hotel road you can wander along all these transitions, discovering more and more new views. We liked it!
Another misconception is that the hotel is built in such a way that almost all rooms have a sea view. This is not the case, there are quite a few rooms with a mountain view, a wall, a neighboring balcony, just on the road (see photo). And by the way, all the rooms, without a sea view, ie. not sea view, no renovation, this is directly written on the hotel website. So, it's better not to save, pay 100 euros more and live in more comfortable conditions.

With children, it is really better to look for another hotel. Although many families with children rested, I didn’t see them with little ones (babies).
The contingent is 30% Russians, the same number of French, the rest are Germans, British, Poles, Slovaks, Israelis, Italians. There are many couples, there are companies of young people. Russian tourists, whom foreigners love to complain about in tripadvisor reviews, behaved more than decently. It was just the foreigners who jumped from the side into the pool almost on their heads, dousing with a bunch of splashes, it was some of them who screamed and neighed like crazy, and the non-Russian children also made a madhouse in the relaxation pool, where children should not be at all.
The beach is not very large, the entry into the water is good, without stones, there are terraces with sun loungers just above the main beach. Sand interspersed with small grayish pebbles, sun loungers on the beach are not new. Since the beach is in a bay, there were no waves even with a strong wind.
The water is clear, but sometimes the wind brings a little debris.
Food - everything is delicious, a lot, there was not much variety. On Sundays for breakfast - champagne with canapé s. Delicious Dor Blue cheese. Once there were mussels. And so in general, everything is as usual. Juices - yuppies, poison. Fresh orange - 3 euros.
Martini, vermouth, rum, campari - the bar is normal. Wine - didn't like it.
The waiters serve well, although there were exceptions.
We had breakfast and dinner on the open terrace, admiring the most beautiful landscapes.
There are no problems with sunbeds anywhere on the territory.
We even liked the wind - it was refreshing. When there was no wind, it was hot and stuffy. True, since September 1, the wind has increased and the temperature has slightly decreased, which did not prevent us from swimming and sunbathing.
Internet - free, catches only at the reception, but not always.
We visited two of the excursions - Gramvous + Balos and the island of Spinalonga + Agios Nikolaos.

The first excursion is quite difficult - departure at 5.50, 3 hours by bus to Kissamos, then an hour by ship to Gramvous. Were led by the words of the guide and stomped on the mountain to watch the pirate fortress. The climb is VERY HARD, think a hundred times if you need it. There is nothing upstairs, a scorched patch of earth. Yes, the views from the top are beautiful, but, believe me, by the time you get up, it will not be up to the views. Although the photos are beautiful.
Then 15 minutes by boat to Balos. We swim there for 2 hours. More was expected. Last year we were in Turkey on the island of Cleopatra, very similar, only larger in area.
Neither on Gramvous nor on Balos, there are no changing rooms, no sunbeds with umbrellas. You can rent an umbrella on the ship or bring your own. Food is not included.
The second tour is much more interesting.
Departure at 8.10, visited the Preveli gorge, the monastery of St. George, then the bay of Elounda, on a boat to the island of Spinalonga, a tour of the island, swimming in Mirabello Bay, lunch in a tavern (not included in the price), then a short tour of Agios Nikolaos + free time, on the way back we visited a local oil mill and bought an olive oil from the manufacturer. We had a good time, informative and relaxed!
They themselves rented a car for 2 days, visited Matala beach - a dirty small-pebble beach, a lot of people, parking for 2 euros, there were no free sunbeds and umbrellas, despite the fact that they were paid, some sheds were built on the shore, terrible rusty locker rooms, not picturesque at all. They ticked the box that they swam in the Libyan Sea, but no more. There was a beach in Kykkos Pyrgos nearby, we accidentally drove there, it is much more beautiful and there are no people.
On the second day we went to Lake Kournas, we liked it very much. The lake itself is beautiful, picturesque views, we rode a catamaran, swam, we never saw turtles, sorry! All parking near the lake is free, the locker rooms are clean, we dined seafood in a very pleasant tavern on the shore.
Returning to the hotel, what I didn’t like - dirty toilets on the beach with non-closing cabins, a bar on the beach - looks like a dirty hut, tables are poorly cleaned, there is a dirty edge on the main pool along the walls, I’m generally silent about the jacuzzi, the water is cold and located right on the site where they dine is not very successful!

Upstairs, near the reception, the steps were washed every other day and the water flowed down, dried up and left stains on the pavement, which also did not look aesthetically pleasing.
Hotel minibuses really wear like crazy and look exactly as they describe, i. е. very unsightly, and they carry both to the beach, and luggage, and tourists to the rooms, and bales of linen and towels.
There really is no one on guard, just as there are no flags on flagpoles. This looks strange.
Pros - picturesque views, good food, good entry into the sea, no waves, free sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach, no need to borrow sunbeds in the morning either by the pool or on the beach, 4 pools (one of them for children), free safe in the room , free Wi-Fi at the reception, fast transfer, equidistance from attractions in the west, east and south, mini market on site and near the hotel with low prices. The absence of a settlement within walking distance is also a plus for me. We stopped at Agia Pelagia - it's bustling there, the beach is tiny.
Personal impressions of the island of Crete itself - everything looks more beautiful in the pictures. In reality - dirty roadsides, bald hills, scorched grass, a lot of dilapidated buildings, especially on the way to the south of the island. As delicate authors write, “the crisis is felt in everything. ” I liked the mountains and bays with turquoise water, clean air. By the way, the air in the hotel is amazing, infused with herbs and greenery, but you could feel it in the hotel, nowhere else!
Described the pros and cons. For us, there were more benefits. The hotel is worth the money. Certainly not 5 stars. I am satisfied with my choice. Recommend for unpretentious tourists.
The work of "Beleon Tour" - no complaints.
I will answer questions.
Have a good holiday everyone!
