In July 2010 rested in Crete city of Hersonissos hotel "Golden Beach" 3 * hotel justifies its star rating and even more. The hotel is located on the beach, 2 minutes walk, its own beach. On the roof of the hotel there is an excellent deep pool, and although it was written that it is open until 20:00, no one thinks to close it, so you can safely come to swim at least at night! The food is very good (buffet), we took breakfast and dinner. Of the free drinks, local beer, wine (which seemed strong to us), Coca-Cola, soda, fanta. For dessert there were always melons and watermelons. The hotel rooms are simple but good, cleaning was done daily. Our room overlooked the main street, at first I thought it would be noisy, but the double-glazed windows performed their function 100%. In the evening on the balcony (on which there is a table and two chairs) it is very pleasant to sit looking at the vacationers. The room has a shower room, a double bed, a regular TV (one Russian-language channel "Russia") and, of course, air conditioning. There is a magnetic key fob on the room keys that activates electrical appliances (it is forbidden to remove it from the keys) when you leave the air conditioner turned off, and in order to come from the heat to a cool room, we removed the key fob from the keys and left the conder on. I do not advise you to do this in the morning, as the rooms are cleaned before lunch. Not far from the hotel there is an entertaining youth beach "Golden Star" where a lot of entertainment including Jumping on an elastic band from a crane mast. On the bad - Expensive excursions that your professional guide will sell you. We took only one to Grmvusa as the object was very far away. We paid 150 euros for a guide for two. The guide hurried us, referring to the possible lack of places on the ship, since this excursion is by sea. Upon arrival at the port, we wondered how much a trip on a ship costs at the box office, we found out that the cost is 22 euros. Throughout Crete, car rental, motorcycle rental is very developed, the cost is from 15 euros per day, depending on the engine size. The arithmetic is simple 22 euros for a ship + 30 euros for a car and that for two people 74 euros, if you are relaxing with your family, the benefit is obvious. All excursions were visited independently by renting an ATV for 4 days for 27 euros (with full insurance) + gasoline. We visited Knossos Palace, Losseti Plateau and Peshara Zeus, Agios Nikolaos, Spinalonga. Most importantly, we didn’t drive along the central roads, which allowed us to see not a resort, but rural Greece and many such places where excursions are not carried out (a map from the water park’s advertising booklet that you are given upon arrival is enough to travel). There is no need to be afraid of getting lost. There are signs on the roads even in the middle of nowhere and along the way, signs to the sights. The local population is friendly, hospitable and friendly people! If you have a driver's license, feel free to take transport and visit all the excursions on your own, you will see much more than sitting on the bus. Almost every place of excursions has a Russian-speaking guide. I will not describe the places of excursions, since their descriptions are enough, I will say one of the greatest impressions was the trip to the Losseti plateau, driving for a long time along the serpentine among the rocks and cliffs, a view of the paradise plain surrounded by mountains. Filled with greenery, it meets you with clean cool air. It feels like the mountains separate this place from the surrounding world from its worries, problems, fuss and life here flows slowly like pure spring water and time seems to have stopped. I am very pleased with the trip and received a lot of impressions. For those who will take an ATV for two, take it with a volume of at least 150 cubic meters (they took less weak pulls).
