We chose the hotel because of its good location - not far from the city, but not a noisy place, because of the green area and not a large number of rooms, reasonable cost: compared with Spain, Andorra, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Turkey.
Location, territory: located very close to the airport (which is convenient and not convenient at the same time, you don’t have to go through the entire mountainous country to the hotel and back, but you have the whole rest, hearing the rumble of aircraft above you is not very pleasant, but not catastrophic), the main part of the sights are nearby, the palace of Knossos, the Cave of Zeus, the plateau, Lassithi, etc. On the one hand, some obscure buildings, wastelands, on the other hand, mini-forks, shops, in principle, nothing special, not colorful landscapes. In principle, there is no beach near the hotel nearby - on the left is not a large pebble (very small pebble, like rice) - a lot of people, like in Crimea a blanket is almost near a blanket, a sunbed for hire is 2.5 euros, an umbrella is 2.5 euros. On the right, there is a smaller beach, but also fewer people, although the road overhead with constant car traffic is a little relaxing, in general, not bad, but on the south coast of Crete, the beaches are better, wider and longer. The sea is fabulous azure, small-small pebbles, small fish, tourists dive with masks, but there is nothing special to see. The territory of the hotel is not small, all green, in flowers, cacti, bushes, well-groomed and fragrant.

Rooms, service: the rooms are made in the Greek style - painted walls, wooden furniture, minimalism, no kettle in the room, two glasses, hair dryer. rooms with swimming pools - made like apartments, with a mini-kitchen, and are convenient because you can swim in the pool at any time of the day. High-quality daily cleaning, change of towels, bed for 7 days changed 1 time. Friendly, helpful staff, receptionist Marina speaks Russian, the rest of the staff is fluent in English, a few words in Russian.
Cuisine: 80% of all food is tasty. For seven days, 20-30% of all food changed for breakfast, dinners changed daily 40% - there were fish and all kinds of meat, and squid, and mussels, from fruits: watermelons, melons, pears, grapes, orange. Everything is edible, fresh, not fancy but not fast food or catering. Alcohol and drinks in the evening paid 0.5 beer 3.6 euros, 0.5 bottle of wine 8.9 euros, water 1l. 3 euros, a glass of cola 2 euros. they sell glasses, only cola, fanta. Disadvantage: not tasty coffee, tea, and their complete absence at dinner. For breakfast, not juice, but diluted UPI.
Content: 50% of the hotels are Russian-speaking, mostly Russia, many Jews, the least Ukrainians - couples under 35, many girls of 2-3 people under 30, there are also Russian-speaking scandalous couples over 50 years old, in general, you can hear only Russians in scandalousness. Either they put them in the wrong place at dinner, then they occupied their sunbed, etc. If you want to take a break from the Slavic mentality, we do not recommend this hotel. about 30% of the guests of Grandma and Dudushka are Germans, all the rest are English, Italians, etc.
Entertainment: there is a scene for animation, but for 7 days there was not a single animation, except for the performance of local sertaki dancers for 5 euros per person (cocktail as a gift), a very mediocre performance, boring.

The city in which the hotel is located is a small village, along the embankment there are only cafes and restaurants, unfortunately focused on fast food - pizza, french fries, some seafood. Neither ourselves nor our guide could find / advise us a cafe with Greek cuisine ((there are many souvenir shops in the city, several supermarkets: Lida, Spar. From the establishments we can recommend from the hotel to the left - go to the beach, go up the road for a total of 10 minutes -15 from the hotel - a restaurant in a marine style (not to be confused with Yialos - to the right of the hotel, if you stand with your back to it, it looks more like a tavern, an eatery) - a good establishment in purple-gray tones, secluded, with a gorgeous view of the night city, quiet not counting the locals : ) because on the waterfront in such establishments from moving past people is very noisy Hersonissos is positioned as a resort for young people, they did not notice much variety for vacationers cafes, 2-3 nightclubs.
Regarding travel, I won’t write a lot of information on the Internet about this: our HUGE recommendation is not to take a car from your guides, or at the hotel at the reception 1.5-2 times more expensive than the locals. Having studied all the pros and possible risks, we opted for a local company, if you go to the right of the hotel next to the shop, there is a car rental prices the same as everywhere else in the city, there is a contract with Russian, they speak English well, but there are also Russian-speaking staff, there is support by phone in Russian and 100% insurance, Suzuki jeep convertible cost 90 euros for 2 days. It is necessary and possible to bargain with them, what is indicated in the price list is not the final price.
The general impression is that the hotel is good, calm, the only drawback is the beach.
