Rested In Malia, High Beach Hotel in September. In general, the island itself disappointed, rather poor nature, a lot of dirt on the roads, somehow not very reminiscent of Europe. Malia is a youth resort, as they write about it, there are a lot of English people here, there are also tourists from France, Italy, Russia, Ukraine. We went there for the good sea and fun nightlife. As for the sea, thanks to the tour operator, access to the beach in this hotel is really on the top five, and another advantage of this hotel is its favorable location, very close to the main street with bars, restaurants, discos. This, perhaps, is all the pluses.... I was disappointed with the hotel itself, after viewing the photos on the website, I got a completely different impression of it. Most of all, I was struck by the tasteless meager food, and, according to all the tourists we met at the hotel, sour dishes very often came across. . . wine, juices - all diluted, tasteless. . we had ultra all inclusive. . in Kyiv they promised that imported drinks would also be free, but this is not true. The bar has a sign with a list of drinks that can be ordered for free. . at the end of the holiday, we saw that both Martini and Baileys were poured for foreigners for free, it was not on the list. The attitude of the staff was outraged, all the locals do not smile, they are angry at the reception, several people from Romania and Hungary work there - nice guys. Room cleaning is disgusting. . . despite the fact that they left one and a half euros for tea, they could “forget” to change towels and put toilet paper, I’m not talking about the fact that there are a lot of corpses of dead mosquitoes on the tiles in the bathroom (they killed the guests who lived in the room before us), no one troubled himself to wash off this filth. . . I was outraged that at the reception a beach towel can be changed every three days (this is with ultra all inclusive). . . the fact that towels do not dry overnight on the balcony does not interest anyone.....on the beach itself it is very dirty, cigarette butts, etc. , but the most unpleasant thing was that when we arrived at the hotel at 3 a. m. we found out that there were no places, we were sent to spend the night in a nearby hotel (the owners are the same). . there. horror. not even 2 stars, we even disdained to go to the shower. . You need to vacate the room on the day of departure at 11 (although all over the world at 12), we have a flight at one in the morning, so only after 3 hours of disputes with the hotel director, we were allowed to stay until 18-00.... in general, the hotel itself - despite the renovation, the new owners and 4 stars was very disappointing. It’s worth going there only if it doesn’t matter where you live, but proximity to the traffic and a good beach are important (in Crete, good beaches are only in hotels remote from cities or very expensive). We do not regret that we went to this hotel, it is relatively inexpensive and met our basic requirements, but we regret that we ended up at the end of the season. Since the resort is for youth, it was empty in the first week of September. . . there are 7 times fewer people left than in the season (according to restaurant workers), many closed establishments. . . no luck with the weather. . out of 14 days, 5 were quite cold. . we traveled a lot around the island in a rental car, we liked Rethymnon and the cave of Zeus (Lasiti), there are some beautiful views, but we expected a completely different nature. In Malia itself, we recommend the Sertaki restaurant to everyone. . . it is owned by two Greek brothers, it is the only place on the island where we had a really good meal.... we also recommend fish restaurants in Rethymno, we didn’t get there, but passing by we saw dishes, very appetizing, huge shrimp, they weren’t seen anywhere else. Palm Beach Vai is a lost day. . . the road there along the scorched steppe, then along a narrow serpentine. . there is nothing interesting there except for palm trees. . . ordinary beach, ordinary sea. . . in our hotel, no worse. and last. I would like to say about the vaunted Santorini. We didn’t get together, we wanted to go with my husband on our own, without buying an excursion from a guide, but we met two couples and went for the company. 250 euros for two - in my opinion too much for such a trip. Picked up from the hotel at 5, it's not clear. why so early, then for 2 hours we stood at the gangway of the catamaran on which we sailed. . The Germans were brought 15 minutes before departure. The island itself - I agree with other reviews, in the towns of Oia and Fira (I can make a mistake with the name) - beautiful, unusual houses, like mountain caps. . but while you are going from one town to another, as in Crete, a lot of rubbish on the side of the road, a steppe landscape. . . The most impressive thing was the way back. . . Apparently this catamaran (Super Jet is called) is not designed for this time of the year, or we got atypical weather for this time. All in all, it was a storm. . it's hard to estimate how many points, but I saw that people were praying. If on the way there, 15 percent of passengers were sitting on the floor, with bags and with green faces (I hope you understand what I mean), then back - 80. . . we were lucky, our new friend, the doctor, persuaded us to take pills for motion sickness before the trip back, and this saved us. . although the last 40 minutes were terrible, they were already holding on with all their might. This doctor also had to save one of the flight attendants, her breathing stopped due to motion sickness, he saved. . . All in all, we will never forget this trip. . I would like to warn those who are going to go there, just in case, drink something from motion sickness an hour before departure and ask your guide about all the details of the trip (our guide mixed up the place from where we were supposed to be picked up, promised that when we go to the neighboring Santorini an island, we will have a boat with a transparent bottom (we didn’t have one), no one warns that it can rock like this (the storm was very weak on the way there, however, 15% of the passengers already cursed their decision to go on this excursion). , tourists from Ukraine and Russia are most often met by Le Grand, there are a lot of unpleasant reviews about them (by the way, they own this hotel) . . about the transfer, no questions, we didn’t like our hotel guide, Konstantin. . when after a trip to Santorini we went making claims, he started yelling that he told us the right place (8 people just didn’t hear him) and generally behaved not very professionally. youthfulness, and although we traveled a lot and ate in different places, they cook very poorly. I am sure that mainland Greece is completely different.
