In June 2018, we had a family vacation (with my husband, daughter) in Crete. We stayed at the Minoas Hotel.
I want to express my gratitude to the owner of the hotel Georgis (he left a favorable impression of himself), his wife (she often sits at the reception in the evening, she never refused to help), and all the hotel staff.
The staff at the hotel is English-speaking, but since I know a little English, we didn’t experience any problems, nobody canceled the sign language either.
The hotel itself is located 5 minutes walk from the sea. This is its main advantage.
Meals at the hotel: no frills, breakfast is modest. But Greek yogurt is delicious! We had enough.
I can't say that the rooms themselves are super comfortable. However normal numbers.
In general, I read the reviews beforehand, took with me both a hair dryer and a rope with clothespins.
But these are such trifles. This is a budget hotel, we didn't expect much from it.
And the owners are nice!

Special thanks to the owner of the rent-a-car Special Dynamic tour Michalis.
We took a tour from him, his office is 100 meters to the left when leaving the hotel (we found it after reading the reviews and were very happy). He has a large selection of routes, everything is transparent and there are no surcharges during the trip (friends took an excursion for 40 euros from a woman to Spinalonga near the hotel, and along the way they paid extra for tickets, and such an excursion to one point alone cost them 70 euros, and for 65 euros we traveled almost half of Crete, including Spinalong and visited a bunch of other amazing places).
It is easy and pleasant to communicate with Michalis (in Russian, sign language was not needed). I liked the trip (Agios Nikolaos is such a wonderful town, it just turned out to be a French promenade), and not only saw the beauties of Crete, but also talked about local customs, and actually about life in general.
And then they took the car from him for 3 days, with full insurance, without overpayments (40 euros per day, and the accompanying person from the travel agency offered us at a price of 60 euros).
My advice.
When choosing a hotel, keep in mind that you should not expect extraordinary amenities from two stars, you need to close your eyes to something (yes, ants ran somewhere).
When buying an excursion, immediately specify all the nuances: how many places you will visit, whether there will be additional surcharges, whether lunch is included in the price of the excursion.
This will help to avoid unpleasant moments and disappointments.
And we got a lot of positive emotions from the rest.
Now I am writing and very sad. When we will return to Crete, I do not know.
