Impressions from the Aquaworld Aquarium in Hersonissos, Crete
What to visit in Hersonissos for all those who are not indifferent to animals, especially families with children - Aquaworld Aquarium (not to be confused with the large Cretan Aquarium, halfway from Hersonissos to Heraklion). Aquaworld is located two steps from the main street in Hersonissos. Its two main "chips" are, firstly, the opportunity to get acquainted with animals that most find scary and unpleasant: -)) - and make sure that this is not the case, and secondly, to communicate with their owner, the main nanny and best friend John McLoren (a Scotsman who has lived in Crete for 20 years. He speaks Russian! ) Gerald Darrell's tempering man is enough to see how much he adores his animals and how they pay him the same coin. In a couple of minutes, not only the children are more combative, but also the most frightening descendants and their parents dare and say: "And I want it! "
: -) We also touched, stroked and held the snakes in our hands, from a small snake to a huge python (don't believe how nice they are to the touch! ), Scratched the ear of the iguana Muka and Mr. Prinkles. At the same time we watched not to stumble Blondie, an 18-year-old giant tortoise, who busily scurried right under the feet of visitors: -)) All this was taken in the photo to scare grandmothers at home with pictures of a child wrapped in a snake and hugging an iguana: -)) And John is just happy about it, he teaches children how to approach animals (it is important that he addresses them in Russian), tells who has what fate, because many of them got wounded or after being kept in poor conditions by careless owners. There is also a blind green turtle Stephanie, which must be fed daily.
In the aquarium we watched an octopus being treated to a fish hidden in a closed jar - and he deftly pulls it out with his tentacles : ), watched moray eels and other fish and sea animals.
In general, the impressions of direct contact with animals are guaranteed, we went there three times (you only need to buy a ticket for the first time, then you become a member of the club and you can come as much as you can)
