Sightseeing tour of the island of Kerkyra (Corfu)
I would like to share a story about a sightseeing tour of the island of Corfu (aka the island of Corfu). Everything went well, the family was very impressed. We were welcomed, taken care of. Well done guides! Top notch!
On a comfortable bus, we drove through the most beautiful places on the island. First we visited a stunning place, Achillion Palace. This is the summer residence of an amazing woman, Elizabeth of Habsburg. The guide told us a story about the tragic life of a princess. We walked around the places where the history of her life and the life of subsequent owners was created. We admired the beautiful view of the island from the observation deck of the famous three-tiered garden, which contains many handmade statues. The most valuable is the statue of the defeated Achilles.
After the palace, we went to the bohemian area of Paleokastritsa. On the way we visited the Vasilakis family factory. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts, treated to various goodies and liqueurs made from nuts and a small Kumquat orange.
In Paleokastritsa we rode on a boat with a transparent bottom. We have never seen such beauty: amazingly clear turquoise water, grottoes, underwater caves, ruined statues and even divers.
The next place was the picturesque village of Lacones. There we had a delicious lunch in a tavern, where we were treated to Kerkyrian dishes. It is interesting that this tavern is located on the observation deck, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of what Paleokastritsa is so famous for - heart-shaped bays!
Full and satisfied, we went to the village of Makrades for souvenirs, cosmetics, olive oil, jam and other interesting things. The great thing is that almost all products are handmade. We collected souvenirs for all relatives and friends!
