Corfu in September
We have already been to Corfu 3 times, this year it turned out that we went in September. I will say right away that the island is very beautiful, but we, like many on this island, are attracted there by St. Spyridon. Going there in September, especially the first time, is definitely not worth it - spoil your impression! 4 out of 7 days it rained, there was always a pretty decent wind. Going there for a beach holiday would not be advised at all. All beaches (you can’t even call them beaches) are very narrow, pebbles, often fishing boats near the beach (dirty). The popular Benitez has a very, very narrow beach. There are also good beaches (Levkimi area), but they are about 50 km from the city along a mountainous and rather inconvenient road. We drove by car for about an hour due to the quality of the road. Very beautiful Kanoni area: Blachernae Monastery on an island, Mouse Island, landing of planes. We spent all the evenings there! In Levkimi there is a monastery in which there is a grave of the nun Anastasia (they have not yet been cananized, but this is a matter of time). She lived a very holy life, there are stones on the grave, they take them and ask mother for something important! There is a stunning monastery on Kanoni -Kasopitra. There the abbot collected a huge amount of relics, there is the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Kasopitra. It's just heaven!! ! Of course the monastery near Benitez Paraskeva Pyatnitsa; and the monastery of Komarell - they will simply amaze with their mothers and hospitality! I advise everyone who is interested not only in the beaches to visit these places - you will love Corfu the way we do! ! ! Prices in restaurants, shops are higher than on the mainland. For children, playgrounds near the old city of Kerkyra, Calypso boat in the old port (glass bottom, show fish and lobster, 15 euros per adult). Of the taverns, I really liked Dora near the old port, the blue roof (fresh fish, squid, they directly show before cooking). Calamari 9-14 euros, sea bream around 16-20, frapé.2. 5 (on the mainland around 1-1.5).
