So, about the Hotel OLYMPIAN BAY (Olympian Bay Holiday Club) in Leptokarya (Pieria, Greece)
LOCATION - good, in terms of observation of Olympus. The famous and described in Greek legends Mount Olympus is located near the sea coast and if you look at the hotel from the sea, the mountain is directly behind the hotel in direct line of sight. I must say that staying at the hotel for 10 days gives grounds to say that the ancient Greek peoples had reasons to write legends about this mountain and the gods. All 10 days, with a clear sky, clouds hung around the peak, in the evenings of 3 days there were thunderstorms and it rained on the mountain. This despite the fact that the rest of the sky was clear and there was no hint of clouds on the horizon. The picture of the sunset over the mountain in the clouds and a kind of beast devouring this sun in the form of another cloud are impressive and make you fantasize.
The FOOD at the hotel (I am writing about this because many people apparently go there for this) is normal and can correspond to the declared level. It's enough for me, but if you look at the details, then there is artificially created discomfort for vacationers.
BREAKFAST:
- COFFEE - only from the waiter's coffee pot - you have to catch him with a glance, wave your hands, come up to ask several times until he comes off the next table that needs to be removed.
- TEA - is in the general order from the boiler - strongly brewed. There are no tea bags to choose from. Such tea should not be given to children - it must be diluted. There is no separate boiling water.
Dilute with cold water from the apparatus ....
- MILK for various types of muesli is cold and hot in the morning, but by the middle of breakfast with milk, it strained.
- SAUSAGES and CHEESE, as probably everywhere from the lowest level. You can eat cheese, but sausage for me is a sausage lover ...
- SOUR CREAM - in excess and with canned fruits (peaches and apricots) goes with a bang.
- SCRIED EGGS and AMLETS from the cook from the frying pan and from the tray.
- SAUSAGES - yes
- CUCUMBERS and TOMATOES - there are also cut FRUIT - ORANGE, GRAPEFRUIT, LEMON in abundance.
- KASHI - as a rule, two are given - semolina with or without chocolate + oatmeal plain or with filling. Different days are different.
- BAKING with cottage cheese, herbs-type pie with trays.
- WATER from the machine and type of fruit drinks from the same machine. The syrup periodically ends and we drink water instead of a type of juice.
So, at breakfast you will not be hungry and there is plenty to choose from.
DINNER:
- SALADS in abundance in the traditions of national cuisine using pasta and various canned beans, vegetables. I was surprised to see beets…. Feta is given separately, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, onions are served in different combinations. Oil, vinegar, mayonnaise (spicy sour cream) is.

- WINE white and red + BEER will be brought by the waiter upon request. Truth. wine is always given in half a glass for three sips. You can drink wine to start the meal. You can also drink BEER - I didn’t have a headache, though I didn’t drink more than 1 glass ....
- TEA and COFFEE should go to the bar to drink and rightly so.
- FRUITS - for our season, on the 2nd half of July, green plums were served, which ripened a little by the end of the race, there were watermelons in the first days, but then they switched to melons, which were given for both lunch and dinner, although my soul and children's voices asked for watermelon. It was strange for me that melons in such a sunny region are not so fragrant and sweet ....The habit of Central Asian melons asked for a honey taste, but ....Watermelons were rare on our trip…
DINNER:
- The dress code is not observed in full, but it is nice to see decently dressed citizens sometimes.
- SALADS and HOT dishes are similar to lunch in the assortment - enough and tasty.
- DESSERTS - thanks to the chef of the hotel - he tried and there is something to choose, but it is very difficult for many to choose and full plates then go to waste ....Take care of yourself comrades and do not take more than YOU really need it ....It will be tomorrow again and alternate dishes on days of rest.

- Do not take TEA and COFFEE at dinner ! ! ! ! It’s very strange when, in principle, you can’t drink tea with a proposed dessert in a restaurant for dinner ...Like, there is tea in a bar, but don’t go there with dessert ...Our and not our partisans with plates, employees frown, stop the chosen ones in front of everyone. Usually crests or Russians. The Germans and Greeks, as always, get just a sideways glance.
- WINE white and red + BEER will be brought by the waiter upon request. You have to call and wait, but there is nowhere to hurry ...If you are in a hurry - drive to the bar and bring your beloved what she wants ....

This surprised me personally and all the others strained for sure. The people from the beach walked in strings to the hotel bar and back already with glasses. Smart people immediately poured from a glass into bottles. But it somehow didn’t look right anymore ...You can ask for water at the beach bar ...and they will give it to YOU from the water tap. WELCOM!
OLYMPIAN BAY was the second in our program and this situation with the beach bar looked criminal after another hotel *** (Akratos) on Athos in which all drinks were served from bottles both in the hotel bar and in the beach bar. Apparently the management of the OLYMPIAN BAY Hotel considers this to be correct. But I don't think so, and I put a big "-".
The BAR on the beach has a sound system and a young man who controls it.
The level of noise from the music surprised me personally at first, and then just annoyed me. It is no longer possible to talk to children two steps away without switching to a cry. Reading in the sound of the surf is the same.
Appeals to guides and hotel management - everything is as always - we will take action without result.
There is only one way out - to crawl away from the bar to the right, but there is already volleyball and dust ....
BEACH.
It looks good from the picture on the website.
Essentially, this is the situation.
Greeks living in the city and vacationing in neighboring villas rush to the beach and take sunbeds without any control. This is evident since there are no rings on the hands ...It is impossible to come to the beach after breakfast and find an umbrella and a sunbed.
Therefore, people are breaking as always early in the morning to take sunbeds. But this is not a guarantee that you will find your place when you arrive ...They may unexpectedly come from the hotel bar on the beach and pick up the left towel and the arrived Greek who bought a cocktail in the hotel bar on the beach will take your place. You will find your towels in a pile at the bar.
The Greeks are good people, but when they come to the beach in a crowd and smoke endlessly and scream (to the music from the bar) - it's tiring and annoying.
The beach itself is dirty.
Garbage pots do not help, since the Greeks themselves first of all litter on the beach - they smoke a lot ...
SEA.
It just killed me and spoiled the holiday as a whole.
The location of the hotel is like in a long bay - exactly in the middle.
Therefore, sea grass is in great abundance and all the garbage from the actively resting population along the coast, as well as apparently discharges from the sewer, is driven along the coast by winds from side to side. I can’t be 100% sure about the sewerage, but there were influxes of dirty foamy water - maybe from yachts, I don’t know. But the impression was spoiled. When I arrived, the guide tried to reassure me that this happens, but rarely. All 10 days the sea grass floated along the beach. I must say honestly that usually this situation was for half a day until the wind drove aside this general influx of grass and debris. If the wind has changed, then everything repeats. For young children, grass is usually a terrible irritant and a reason for fright and screaming.
For fast swimmers, these are sometimes even cuts, as in my case on the neck and ears.
The water is muddy. Clean clear water was found floating far beyond the buoys with a steady wind from the sea. But I can't take my kids there...
In 10 days, I only managed to organize a long swim along the coast twice, as I did in different places earlier. And I can’t understand at all what prevents you from removing grass and debris from the surface of the water in a resort place, as the Turks do. Two or three boats with nets and everything is clean ...
BUNGALOW ROOMS.

I lived in the first line (building 5XX). So here is the scorched dry grass and dust with a football field filled with cars of the Greeks and other vacationers who came to rest on the beach and scurry around from morning to night.
The second - the previously described bar on the beach from 12 noon to 2 am hammers bass to its fullest. Falling asleep with children under the roar of music is difficult even with the balcony door closed. I must say that after putting pressure on the representatives of the hotel in the clearing in front of the building, they began to clean up the garbage and turn on the water in the sprinklers, which were already clogged and did not spray. At the same time, it turned out that 1 meter from the edge of the balcony there was a series of sprinklers that began to turn on at night. It turned out like a mockery, since all the linen on the balcony became wet ...I didn’t see the repair in 7 days. We closed the watering can with a pot - we are Russians and we know what to do ourselves ! ! !
SO, it is harmful to settle in the 5XX building for hearing and quiet rest.
The bungalow buildings face the sea, and with the right edge to the fence of the Hotel territory.
The bungalow has two floors with 10 rooms per floor.
Behind the fence is a local road.
The local population actively uses mopeds, motorcycles and other noisy equipment. Therefore, if possible and desire to “rest against the horn” when checking in, ask for rooms with initial numbers like 601-605 or if the second floor is 611-615.
Between the buildings of the 6XX - 11XX bungalows, the grass and lawns are in good condition and are being monitored. There is a type of local artificial stream with bridges along the ends of the bungalow buildings from the side of the main territory. In the evening it is pleasant and beautiful to take a walk, taking into account the illumination.
Housing 11XX with the back as the right edge is along the road. The noise is wild. Avoid the Russians of this building. Let the Germans or others settle there ...
BUNGALOW CLEANING.
Everything would be fine, BUT the floors (tiles in the bathroom and the room) are washed with a solution of some kind of chemical like a gel. The specific smell remains even after prolonged airing.
Two drops on the floor then turn into slime, which immediately begins to smell.
Walking barefoot in a room is simply disgusting.
In the bathroom, this is generally some kind of nightmare, since there is no curtain (there is glass on half of the bathroom) and after a shower there is water on the floor even if you tried not to splash. They give a rug to the bathroom, but all the same, this mucus is smeared and, most importantly, it smells. It is difficult to weather the bathroom, because without light there is no ventilation. While you are in the room, you can leave the light in the bathroom and the fan will spin, but this fan is barely pulling. The room opens and the light is turned on with a chip card. There are no options for the light to work while you are not in the room - only if you do not demand a second chip card, which of course they do not give us.
Bed linen and towels were changed regularly and even put more than necessary (compensation for floors and dampness in the bathroom).
AIR CONDITIONING.
He is something special. Kind of central. Works with a remote control on the wall. It has its own character and work plan. When leaving the room, the light turns off and the air conditioner also turns off.
BUT if you wait a minute after removing the chip card from the pocket, during which the light in the room will turn off and then press the air conditioner start button again, it will work. After all, this is what you usually need to do - come to a room where it is already cool ?? ? ?
USE the system programming error! Even if you open the balcony door when the air conditioner is on, it will stop - do not be alarmed. If the balcony door is closed, it (condo) will turn on again. At night, the condo can turn on by itself and surprise you with its coolness in the room.
The first two nights when the condo turned on itself gave us the result - the son of 3 years old fell ill - ARVI with a temperature of under 39 in two visits for the rest of the days. He slept at the closed door of the balcony and the main stream of the air conditioner that turned on at night blowing along the wall apparently chilled him. Maybe it was an allergic reaction to the gel on the floor or an infection in the sea water, which he, due to his smallness and ineptitude, drank floundering ....
After the son, the same ARVI overtook the daughter and wife to a lesser extent, but the symptoms are the same - a cough sliding down to the lungs.
I had to take an antibiotic...
I was not able to CURE the air conditioner and turn it on without the task in hand, but we put the existing sun umbrellas on the bed over the heads of the children so that at night the air conditioner would not chill them again with its flow. There is flow rate adjustment, but the variation is minimal. The main thing is there is no adjustment of the flow direction. Scotch tape and cardboard knocked down the flow towards the floor. Victory!
BALCONY in a bungalow with a table and two wicker chairs.
It is better to take a rope for drying your towel with you - 5-6 meters.
ROOMS in the main building (4 floors - in fact 3-6 floors of the building).
There is carpet on the floor.
There is no door in the bathroom. WELCOM! In the Bungalow it is, but not in the room in the building.
Therefore, if YOU are not very close, you need to go to the toilet when your roommate goes for a walk from the room ...NO PROBLEM ...
CHILDREN'S ANIMATION - there is the same in Russian. In the evening, children's dances, but some short in my opinion in comparison with other hotels. I felt like my daughter didn't have enough. In Akratos and Gerakina Beach, the children's disco was more serious.
IN THE EVENING it is unrealistic to send children to the children's room. She only works during the day. Going to a restaurant alone without children will not work.
RESTAURANTS - there is a separate Italian restaurant where you can sign up for 1 dinner per week for free and choose from a menu of several dishes. It is pleasant and allows you to retire. There is a type of Greek restaurant on the beach, but the menu in it is basically as I understand it, it works 1 time during the Greek evening, which is paid separately and held with local artists. During the day, the beach restaurant lives its own life for beachgoers - locals and visitors.
SPORT
- VOLLEYBALL on the beach. The company is going to play periodically.
In the evening there is no light. The public in the hotel is such that it is difficult to find a partner. I tried and only on the penultimate day I managed to find a partner - athletes from St. Petersburg arrived. The price is 5 euros per bow (not per court) for 1 hour of play. After playing for your 5 euros from your nose, you will still be required to level the court and drag the net to level the field. ? ? ? ? If you want, you can play with a coach or take a lesson. There is a girl who sits there and will keep you company for 30-40 euros per hour.
- There is table tennis. 1 table by the pool in the sun for a special a platform with a frame for the future of something - roofing felts (but it will be very low), roofing felts for installing lamps. During the day, playing in the heat of the summer is harmful to the skin and health. To move a tennis table in the shade of trees to a playground, the management lacks either the mind or something else. In the evening, when it's not hot and you can play, there is no local lighting ...for some reason? ? ? It's so hard to put a couple of lamps on? ? ? ?

The music is so-so - the volume almost turns off the brain.
I would dance, but not there. People come 5-10 people.
GNUS - MOSQUITOES - other insects. .
They are, as the area is mostly green and watered regularly. There is a local stream and water drain pipes at the bungalow. There are no mosquito nets on the balcony. Mosquitoes with open two balconies rode to wait.
The Russian fumigator and our plates do not really work on them - or you need to put 2-4 fumigators in the room at once - a large number of rooms. Ignoring the fact of the presence of mosquitoes in the evening will lead to a stormy night and a miserable appearance of the physiognomy. The room must either be kept closed without fresh air or fight, and you can keep a record of the “enemies of restful sleep” killed during the evening. 50-90 pieces are our results. This can be fun if you get the right attitude and wet the edge of a white hotel towel. So more lethal force on impact and more likely that the mosquito will stick and you will finish it off. They live there! In our case, the battle with mosquitoes was something like an evening warm-up and an evening show. If you have a first floor and your balcony opens during the day, then in the evening before going to bed it is better to check what is in the corners of your room and if there is anyone on / in / near the bed.
In principle, the gel that is smeared on the floor in the room repels crawling reptiles - they just slowly freeze in convulsions, but breathing this gel is somehow not a thrill. If in our case we are forced to wash the floor with clean water and breathe deeply, then there is a higher probability of receiving the arrival of “mishandled Cossacks”. But a pair or group evening reconnaissance is an exciting event!
GENERAL IMPRESSION.
Vacationers settle from Russia, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, the countries of the former Yugoslavia and a few Germans (the remnants are apparently from former times) and the Greeks themselves - there are quite a few of them.
The main building is in decent shape, a beautiful hall where there is a bar and there is where to sit in armchairs and sofas - even lie down.
The food at the hotel is acceptable - good.
The restaurant works at 4. There is apparently a problem with the staff in the hall, but everything is tolerable in general.
Alcoholic drinks are acceptable and non-bodied under the all-inclusive system.
Water, cola and type of juices (analogue concentrates) in the hotel bar are available on an all-inclusive basis.
The main advantage of the hotel is its food and the work of the bar, taking into account "all inclusive".

There are three pools.

A little further from the shore -25-30 meters from the shore there is a spit where adults of average or more height can stand up calmly and play and relax. Children and teenagers on this spit do not reach the bottom.
Sunbeds on the beach are in short supply due to the influx of local Greeks.
Sports activities in the pool are open. Everything else is somehow not completed, not thought out, not equipped, or fell into decay. The only exception is courts that do not belong to the hotel according to the court staff - they only border the hotel. But even on the courts there is no light, which, given the climate and the rest regime, is strange.

There is a type of Greek restaurant on the beach, but the menu in it is basically as I understand it, it works 1 time during the Greek evening, which is paid separately and held with local artists.
