Leaving for the second time in GREECE and the first time in these places, I almost made a mistake: they wanted to book rooms in one inexpensive, but advertised (I will not name) hotel on the main street of Paralia. Fortunately for us, there were no more places in the hotel. And we booked at random another inexpensive hotel: GOLD STERN.
Many times afterwards we rejoiced at the choice. Our favorite pastime after a day of driving in a rented car or sightseeing is to sit on the hotel balcony, buying a lot of seafood dishes, meat mix, etc. with Greek wine, ouzo and Metaxa, and leisurely enjoy it all while looking at the surrounding landscape. From the rooms, the windows of which overlook the front facade of the hotel, a wonderful view of the square, the rising moon and strolling vacationers opens. At this time on the main street there is a NIGHTMARE pandemonium, noise, music, etc. etc. In general, do not spend a peaceful time. Yes, and not much sleep.
And the hotel itself is a tourist's dream: clean, tidy, everything is there, the same center, but quiet. It was especially pleasant to communicate with the owners of the hotel. Wonderful attentive people, one family. One of them speaks fluent Russian (Janis! Huge hello! ). The usual set of breakfasts was pleasantly diversified by the wonderful pastries of their family production. It's a pity there is no pool, but this is the case almost everywhere in Paralia.

If possible, I RECOMMEND to rent at least the most inexpensive car (for eight days it cost 40 euros per day). Firstly, you can easily leave the city and find yourself a place on a rather deserted place of a wonderful sandy beach (we recommend beaches south of Paralia (behind the port). Secondly (using a navigator) you travel to pre-planned historical places and attractions: waterfalls, thermal springs , ancient monasteries, fortresses, excavations and more...
We highly recommend visiting the museum of the tomb of Alexander the Great's father PHILIP II.
From excursions it's great to go to the islands. We went to Skiathos: a boat trip with dolphins and dancing, and views, and stunning beaches.
Athens is quite a long and tiring bus ride. We saw the divorce of the guard and the Acropolis. And everyone is running through the streets. Free time - hour. It's a pity there is something to see and shops to walk around.
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY IN GREAT GREECE!! !
