I worked at the Creta star Hotel for 1 month as a waitress and the other 2 months as an animator!
Those were unforgettable days!
having 1 day off a week, I can say I traveled around the whole island.
Since they write comments about the hotel here, I'll start with the location.
1. Location in Scaletta village about 14 km from Rethymnon. by taxi about 8-11 euros one way, but every 30 minutes there is a bus - a ticket for which you can take in the store (it’s better to take it right there and back) for 1.5 euros.
and go to the White church stop and you will find yourself right at the gates of the Old Town where there are many shops. the main street there is Arcadio Street. the most valuable thing we found there is the JLo store =)
For young people, of course, it will be boring, although on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays - animation holds a disco in the hotel until 2 am.

There are literally a couple of steps from the hotel to the sea. there are no locals on the beach, only vacationers of the CRETA STAR & Royal Hotel. there is also a CORALY hotel nearby, you can use the Internet if you have a laptop and have WI-FI (only so that the owner does not notice - he can turn it off - the Internet), although why, if in KRETA STAR in the lobby you can also sit quietly and use the Internet )))
3. The beach is sandy, although the entrance is not very good - there are plates there... but after walking along the beach to the left (closer to KORALI) . . there is a beautiful entrance - sand) small fish swim - you can swim with a mask - I caught a small little fish - and released it
And if you ride a bike or a taxi in the direction of Heraklion, literally 3 km - there is, as we called it Cave Beach (Cave Beach), something like a lagoon, a small pebble beach - but there you can catch gorgeous waves, jump off a cliff or swim into a cave )
The best beaches are Gramvousa in the northwest, Elafonisi 0 in the southwest, Vai in the northeast and in the south of Plakias - in good weather you can see the coast of Africa, at this point the river flows into the Libyan sea and you can take a catamaran and swim inland, and palm trees grow along the banks)
4. Excursions can be purchased across the road to the Voyage tour, a Russian-speaking guy works there - Roma (if you say that Christina from Krasnoyarsk advised and say HELLO.
