Super holiday in a super location
I really like discovering new places in Crete. For 3 years, twice a year in June and September (during the seasons of low prices), since 2010, we have been trying by all means to get to Crete (in its western part). And we are constantly discovering new places, especially in the southwest (Plakias, Loutro, Amoudi, etc. ). However, staying on this amazing island, we are always drawn to Lake Kournas: a quiet, calm and peaceful place at the foot of the mountains. Due to the difference in depths, the lake differs from others - it has two colors - warm blue and, at the same time, saturated with blue with a greenish tint (but the color changes and depends on the viewing angle and the sun's rays). There are many taverns on the territory of the lake, but I would like to recommend the family tavern KORISSIA of the Stavroulakis family: Joseph and Stella: special hospitality, comfort, sincerity, generosity and unobtrusiveness. The dishes of chef Svetlana and Iorgo are always unique: tasty, high quality, varied at an affordable price: from banal Greek and Cretan salads to moussaka, young lamb and pork with local herbs, sea bass (lavraki), dorado, octopus and grilled shark. Since the chef Svetlana is Ukrainian, you will find freshly prepared homemade borscht on the menu (it helps mentally return home after 12-13 days of staying on the island with monotonous hotel food). Svetlana also pleases us with a delicious salad with local croutons and tomato sauce and goat cheese (dako), snails in sauce, baked zucchini (boureki) and meat baked (or smoked) on olive wood. Hospitable waiters Andrey and Ervis are happy to serve you in any language: Greek, English, German, French, and, of course, Russian with a cool accent and appropriate jokes : -) On the territory of the tavern there is a playground, a large cage with parrots, free sunbeds, changing rooms , large sanitary zone, free parking and rental of catamarans. At any time and at an affordable price, you can also buy homemade olive oil, honey and wine. In the shade of a mulberry tree, with such a menu and located on top of the lake - the rest will be simply unforgettable, and time will fly by quickly, but will be remembered for a lifetime. . . Meeting the sunrise on Lake Kournas is a different story, but you can feel it "for yourself": in the KORISSIA tavern, small but cozy rooms are available where you can stay for the night. HOLIDAYERS! Do not rush, stop at the KORISSIA tavern, enjoy peace and relaxation in a paradise! You can regard my review as an advertisement - I will not mind, but let's discuss after you return home. . . : -) Believe me - these people deserve such reviews, and their care - the biggest awards!
