Rested with a friend in mid-May 2014. A friend gave me the right to choose a hotel, so it was decided to stay at the Kresten Palace. The fact is that in the 80s, on the territory where the hotel is now built, the film "Rhodes Triangle" was filmed based on the story of Agatha Christie with my beloved David Suchet in the title role. Therefore, as a true admirer of the Queen of the Detective, I wanted to visit this wonderful and picturesque place.
The hotel itself is small and well maintained. The staff is unobtrusive and hardly speaks Russian. Don't try to pay extra when you check in. This is not Turkey or Egypt - you will still be given the room that was originally planned (to the credit of the Palace, the standard rooms are really good).
We chose the breakfast-dinner system. Drinking - for some money (it's hard to refuse, as a very persistent staff). Prices are not sickly: water and beer 0.5 liters. - 4 euros. We recommend that you come for dinner directly to the opening of the restaurant in order to choose your favorite table yourself. We got a couple of times half an hour late - we stood in a rather big queue until the manager of the hall found a place for us somewhere in the corner.

The food is normal for Greece. It seems to be just a lot, but over time you realize that one and the same thing. That is, without pickles, but you definitely won’t stay hungry. Delicious sweets. Animation - so-so, do not expect enchanting shows (mainly karaoke, various contests, disco). But the guys are trying. In the afternoon - sports games, good water aerobics.
Vacationers are mostly Germans, British, Dutch, Poles. Representatives of the former CIS - 10%, no more. There are always free sunbeds by the pool. Take your own beach towels, the hotel simply does not provide them. Like shampoo, shower gel, hair conditioner. THERE IS NOTHING OF THIS IN THE ROOM, GET IT FROM HOME! The beach is narrow. The sea is rocky with a not very convenient entrance. Tapchany and umbrellas there, unlike the pool - for a fee. In general, in mid-May of this year, both the pool and the sea were still quite cold, that is, it was possible to plunge, but alas, to make a long swim.
The view from the shore to the sea is amazing. On the left, there are two taverns where, on occasion, you can have a bite to eat for a reasonable fee. The portions are large, we took one for two, we ate decently. To the right of the main entrance to the hotel (after 300 meters) there is a market where you can buy water, beer of normal quality and at normal prices.
To the center of Rhodes - 10 minutes by bus. Do not rush to take a taxi - there is a stop next to the hotel, comfortable buses run every half an hour. Travel - 2.20 euros one way - convenient (considering that a taxi - 12-15 euros). It's nice to walk around the old town, visit the port of Faliraki, shops often have sales, we bought things of famous brands at prices much lower than at home.
And finally. We drove through Beleon Tours. Good company with very professional guides. Thanks to the hotel guide Roman, who helped us in every possible way during the rest and gave exhaustive answers to all questions. We ordered a half-day sightseeing tour of Rhodes (guide Julia) - everything is very well organized, informative; in Lindos with Anna - the same thing. And of course, the one-day excursion "Orthodox Rhodes" with Michael is beyond praise (by the way, all the guides working on this route have a theological education, so we especially recommend a trip, you won't regret it).

Have a good trip and lots of pleasant impressions!
