I want to share my impressions about the rest at the Rachoni Beach hotel on the Greek island of Thassos.
We stayed at this hotel from August 25 to September 8.2017.
I will try to be objective and not succumb to emotions, although there are plenty of them.

The Rachoni Beach Hotel is located on the seafront in the village of Rachoni. Around very old olive groves and pines. From entertainment 3-4 taverns, one of which (Olga) plays live music on Thursdays. 2 small shops with food and souvenirs and a supermarket 20 minutes walk from the hotel. So, dear lovers of the promenade and noisy entertainment, you are not here.
We arrived at the hotel around 9 am. Breakfast was not over yet, but they refused to feed us. They didn’t even offer water (we have encountered such amazing miserliness more than once). They offered to leave things near the reception desk, and there was no one there regularly. Take what you want. Why there is no separate room for luggage is unclear.

Carrying luggage to the rooms is not provided.
In my presence, an elderly woman asked for this service, they refused.
We were warned that we would not be able to check in until 14:00. We had to sit somewhere for 5 hours. There is a fairly large hall near the reception with sofas and armchairs with a transparent ceiling and no air conditioning. After breakfast in a nearby tavern, we tried to sort out our belongings in the hall, find swimsuits, but what kind. Not only did the temperature (a transparent ceiling with such and such a sun), according to my feelings, exceeded 40, so there was still something unbearably smelled (chlorine? ) to pain in the eyes. And they didn't last 3 minutes.
At 14:00 they showed us the room (No. 702) where we would be settled. We were horrified. The balcony of the room (and not only our room) was 0 (zero) meters from the footpath, 2.5 meters from the carriageway and 13-14 meters (measured by steps) from the stinking garbage dump. Repeatedly asked to change the room and the administrator (Milena) and the representative of Muzidinis (Anna) and the owner of the hotel.
They offered to pay for a room change. Zero reaction. And the director was pleasantly surprised, “What don’t you like, this is a room with a view of the mountains ! ! ! ”(probably they meant mountains of garbage)“ and you should be grateful because instead of a “standard” room they gave you a “deluxe” room. We will not discuss the question of what is better a “standard” room or a “deluxe” room in the garbage, everything seems to be clear anyway. It was especially offensive for the newlyweds, who were settled in the next room (No. 701) for 21 days. They said it was their honeymoon. The honeymoon is actually in the trash, it's cool, they will remember for a lifetime. No matter how much they asked, they were not relocated either. At least with us. Almost everyone who arrived with our group was dissatisfied with their numbers. We have a strong belief that the Russians in this hotel have a special, negative attitude.

Our fears about the garbage, unfortunately, were fully justified. She could not be removed for 3-4 days.
Turn on the imagination, what happens in 3-4 days with food waste at a temperature of + 25-35 degrees ..... True, we did not always smell. According to my observations, it stank especially in the morning and in the evening, when there was no wind, and the wind carried these smells to the neighboring hotel (my condolences to the residents of the hotel). We asked our guide (Anna), since they don’t want to relocate, to assist in the regular cleaning of containers. And they asked! The garbage truck arrived between 5 o'clock. 20 minutes. (naturally in the morning) until 6 o'clock. 20 minutes. and with a roar, a rattle, a rumble, removed the garbage. Sleeping after that was difficult. And most importantly, the incense did not decrease from this. This circumstance, as well as cars and the noisy crowd walking under the windows, forced us to tightly close the doors and turn on the air conditioner, despite the fact that the temperature at night reached 18 degrees, and it would be possible to sleep with the doors open, but this somehow reduced noise.
Now about the room itself.
There were only 2 towels in the room. One per person. They were originally white. I don’t know how many years they were used, and for what purposes, how they were washed and whether they were washed at all, but they had a gray color. It's just disgusting to wipe them off. Later, after several requests and tips, the cleaner was given one more towel each, but of the same gray color. We met a family from Moscow, so they were given an additional 1 (one) “extra” towel for three, frankly dirty, well, very dirty (they showed us his photo). I would wash the floor with it only after washing, so as not to stain the floor. They said that when they came to the reception with this towel, they only laughed there. The woman, when she talked about this, wept from the humiliation she had endured. Only when they sent a letter to Musidinis! ! ! they were treated more carefully. But they still had to buy a towel from the store.

(And another woman, whom we also met on the beach, bought herself a rag for the floor, because the drain in the shower did not work well for her, they could not or did not want to repair it, and the water had to be removed).
There was only one hook for towels in the shower. They asked for at least one more hook to attach. Received a categorical refusal. We ourselves went to the store and bought self-adhesive hooks (I must say high-quality ones), as many as 4 pieces for 2 euros, and this problem was solved for ourselves and for future residents.
In the shower, the switch from a manual watering can to a stationary watering can was not working, they asked me to fix it. After the repair, it became possible to use the switch, but this required brute male power and a towel wrapped around the switch. No more contact was made about this.
There were no chairs in the room, not one. At the request to give chairs at the reception (Milena), they offered to take a chair from the balcony.
Only after contacting the owner of the hotel was given one chair.
There is no lighting in the room. One sconce near the mirror and weak, decorative lighting around the headboard. Total intimacy. Something to read in the evening is impossible. In the shower room, out of 4 lamps, 2 work, though they are bright. There is a lamp on the balcony, but it does not work. Asked for table lamps. With a creak they gave one. They promised a second one but didn't deliver. So they passed this lamp to each other like a baton. There were no fights, but there were disputes. It is also impossible to read something in the lobby in the evening. If there is a light there, then it is not turned on, and there is twilight in the evening.
There is a socket for a telephone in the room, but there is no telephone.
Something always dripped intensely from the ceiling on the balcony, especially when it's hot (condensation? ). Droplets hit the parapet of the balcony, and dirty splashes flew at us and onto the laundry hung out to dry. They asked for a container from under the mayonnaise and the problem was solved.
The collected water was poured over drying flowers in tubs at the reception.

There are no excesses such as writing materials typical for a hotel *** (I write and am ridiculous myself that one would expect the presence of writing materials in this THIS hotel).
There are insects in the room. Flies, mosquitoes, (in small numbers) and ants (in large numbers). We fought flies and mosquitoes ourselves. They asked us to get rid of the ants. They promised to hold a dignity. processing, allegedly carried out, but the ants continued to crawl. They asked again, supposedly held, but the ants continued to crawl. The third time they did not ask, they realized that it was useless.
Of the toiletries, there were 2 bars of soap, 15g each. for the entire stay at the hotel. And nothing more! There was no talk of shower gel and shampoo, air fragrance, on the first day they hinted at it, and then they didn’t even ask. Thank God, there was toilet paper, but it also ran out once.
I had to use purchased wipes.
There is no shelf under the mirror for toiletries.
The window for ventilation from the toilet goes directly into the hall and if you have, say, diarrhea, then the whole hotel knows about it by the characteristic sounds from this window.
Room cleaning is disgusting. On purpose, I didn’t clean up the fly I killed near the door to the balcony, it disappeared only after 2 days, and it’s not a fact that this is the result of cleaning. The mirror in the bathroom is located low, directly above the washbasin and was naturally splashed with water, but it was not washed every time, and after washing it was all streaked. The glass in the shower was not cleaned at all. When it became completely opaque, they asked to wash it. Somehow washed. They didn't ask for more. The cleaning lady comes when she pleases. Usually in the very heat when we rest. Once they simply refused to clean. They said at the reception (Milena) that the cleaning time was inconvenient for us.
They refused to reschedule the time or at least fix the cleaning time for a certain hour.

There is a kitchenette in the room, but nothing works there. The handles have been removed from the electric stove. The faucet spouts. I managed to fix the faucet. It's good that I had pliers (I took it for fishing) and a band-aid. So we used the faucet in the sink to wash fruit.
Our friends lived in the family room. It had a functioning kettle, an electric stove, and even a microwave oven, but there were no dishes, not even tea cups, not to mention cutlery. We used the plastic cups we brought with us.
There is Wi-Fi in the hotel, but it is very unstable. In the evening it practically does not work (1 Mbps). Early in the morning near the reception 24-54 Mbps.
The taste was reminiscent of hydrochloric acid diluted with water, dye and flavor. Naturally, once we tried them, we did not take them again.
Boiling water for tea was occasionally not enough. They boiled it in two HOUSEHOLD electric kettles (this is for such a number of guests).
There was usually a queue for tea cups. There were few of them, and as a rule, three to five cups were taken out. Cups for yogurt (by the way, one of the few tasty products) were also always in short supply, this also applies to teaspoons.
In general, dishes are a separate song. The plates are all different. 20-30% of them are chipped with some dark spots on the bottom. On the last day (September 7.17) they served wet dishes in general. They wiped it off with paper towels.
From spices 1 (one) salt shaker for 3-4 tables, mustard and ketchup on distribution.
I tried the soup served for dinner (one type) 2 times, I didn’t even try more. Terrible crap.
The only baked goods were bread. No pies, buns, cakes, etc. , etc. for you.
n. Jelly dessert for dinner. I didn't like it at all.
From seafood they gave several times some small either stewed or fried fish. Or the fish itself was not very tasty, or it was poorly cooked, and most likely both, but it was not very tasty. However, the cats, found here in abundance, ate it with pleasure.

Because of the donkeys, we ate in the building, although there are tables outside. Wasps are present in huge numbers all over the island (allergic sufferers take note!! ), and as soon as there is food, they flock to share the meal with you. They flew into the hall and to the distribution, but these were single specimens, but even one wasp crawling on the distribution of food did not add appetite. The hotel does nothing about it. In taverns, wasps are scared away by smoke, putting a bowl with something smoldering on the table. Wasps are not aggressive, but nevertheless bit me 2 times. The bite site hurts for 1-2 days, then it itches for 2-3 days.
Room service during breakfast hours, breakfast menu is not provided in the room.
We left the hotel for the airport early in the morning. Therefore, we were given a dry ration, which consisted of 2 pieces of bread, one piece of sausage and one piece of cheese, the taste of which I wrote about. They offered to buy water themselves in the store (no comment).

About the beach.
All the famous beaches of the island (Aliki, Golden, Paradise, Makriamos, La Scala, etc. ) are packed. Umbrella and sunbeds are quite expensive here, up to 15 euros. But there are many less well-known beaches, where people are smaller and cheaper, and sometimes you can take an umbrella and sunbed for free, you just need to order something in a cafe. And there are generally wild beaches (Arzanas), where there are no umbrellas, no sunbeds and few people.
The hotel's beach is sandy, well located, in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. There are enough sun loungers for everyone, but we must keep in mind that some of them are broken.
There are about 60 umbrellas or even more, in addition there are 4 large pine trees, all this fully satisfies the need for shade.
The sea is shallow, so that there is water up to the neck, with a height of 170 cm, you need to walk about 80 meters from the coast. The bottom is sandy, but there are stones and algae.

Smoking is allowed on the beach, which is very annoying. Constantly had to maneuver along the beach in order to get rid of the smoky excrement of smokers. There are no ashtrays on the beach and smokers, without further ado, throw their cigarette butts right there on the sand, the most cultured and educated bury them in the same sand. So both the beach itself and its bowels are stuffed with cigarette butts. Several times I tried to remove cigarette butts, well, at least near my sunbed, and at least those on the surface. From 20 to 40 cigarette butts were collected within a radius of 2-4 meters. Cleaners do not clean cigarette butts, probably considering them an integral part of the beach.
By the way, on the beach of the neighboring hotel there are tables near the umbrellas and ashtrays on them, there are much fewer cigarette butts.
There are no cabanas on the beach. Toilet too, of course.
Soul -2, at different ends of the beach, but there is no tap to wash your feet from the sand. If you wash your feet in the shower, you will still wet everything from your heels to your waist.
Periodically on the beach, on its right side, if you stand facing the sea, there is a smell, or rather a stench, from the sewer. This usually happens in the evening and early morning hours. At the same time, purely subconsciously, the desire to climb into the water disappears from the assumption that there may be sewage drains. The nature of this stink has never been established. (Maybe some maintenance work at the treatment plant? ).
We have been to Greece 9 times. The Rachoni Beach hotel is the worst service and food preparation we have seen in Greece.
Moreover, this is the opinion of all the Russians whom we met here and who had previously visited Greece.

On the beach, I was an unwitting witness to a conversation between 2 Russian women who had just arrived. They talked about this "fucking hotel" and this "fucking Greece" and that "it would be better to go to Turkey. " I strongly disagree with this. Greece is BEAUTIFUL, with absolutely charming nature, with a rich history, a country where there is something to see, with BEAUTIFUL, kind, helpful, friendly people and Thassos is no exception. There is no comparison between Turkey and Greece. And about the hotel and its staff is well said in the Russian proverb: "A family is not without its black sheep. " Therefore, we went and will go to Greece. Only now we will be more attentive to the choice of the hotel.
For trips to Greece, we used the services of the tour operator Musidinis, whose credibility was undermined after our last trip.

After all, the representative of Musidinis (Anna) was in our hotel every day. Doesn't she see what's going on? Why did we have to beg and humiliate ourselves in front of the hotel administration, as it should be?
I wrote this opus after I read positive reviews about the hotel on the Internet, which, as I suspect, were written by the employees of Musidinis themselves and other mishandled Cossack women. And I really want the people to know the whole truth about the Rachoni Beach Hotel, to be able to make an objective choice and not be disappointed in Greece and its people.
